This List Is for the 2018/2019 School Year Only Catchment Area List for Villages and Parishes The information given in this list should be used as a guide only and may change. It is correct at the time of publication (05/12/17). For up-to-date information about a particular address, please contact the Admissions Team on 0345 600 0981. It should not be taken to have any definitive administrative or legal significance. Important: Please refer to the Directory of Schools in Suffolk for the relevant school year to see the school's admissions policy. For some schools the catchment area may not be used for admission or transport purposes. Please note: for villages and parishes, most catchment boundaries follow the parish boundary line. This is not always the same village and parish as the postal address indicates. NOTE 1 For Thurston Community College catchment area, some students will also be entitled to transport to Ixworth Free School as the nearest school. See www.suffolkonboard.com for further details. For Alde Valley School catchment area, some students will also be entitled to transport to Saxmundham Free School as the nearest school. See www.suffolkonboard.com for further details. Please note that the current School Travel Policy is available at www.suffolkonboard.com. This policy details the arrangements that will apply during the school year commencing September 2018. Suffolk County Council is considering changes to the School Travel and Post-16 Travel policies because of the acute pressure on this budget. Any proposals would be consulted upon during the school year commencing September 2017. Should there be any approved changes these would not come into effect until September 2019. • Excursions 1997. Report and Notes on Some Findings. 19
EXCURSIONS1997 Reportand noteson somefindings 19 April. Philip Aitkens Ixworth, Garboldishamand North Lopham The towers of these three churches are believed to have been built by the 15th-century workshopof master masons,Aldrichof North Lopham, Norfolk. Acontract wasdrawn up in 1486between the churchwardens of Helmingham and Thomas Aldrich of North Lopham to construct their tower; today, it has a fine inscription at the base. North Lopham tower is believed, from evidencein wills,to have been commencedin 1479;an inscriptionby the same hand as that at Helminghamappears at mid-heighton the north side, but at the base isa band ofstone devices,flushwork-filled.Inscriptionsdated c.1480-1500are alsofound, for example, at Brockley(on the tower),Botesdale(over the north door) and Garboldisham(north porch), all by the same hand. Similardevicesin flushworkare to be found on many other churches c. 1460-80,especiallyat the basesof towers:those at Ixworth, BadwellAshand Elmswellform a notable group. SeealsoGarboldisham,Northwold,Fincham,NewBuckenham,Kenninghall and Mendlesharn. Other architectural features closelymatch, clear evidence of a common designer. These are mostlydatable by willsto c.1460-80. It is believedthat a new generation at the Aldrich workshop commences c. 1486, favouring inscriptions instead of flushwork devices. Acontract wasmade withThomas Aldrichto rebuild the east wallofThetford Priory, 1505-07. lxworth, St Mary'sChurch. The annual general meeting washeld here by kind permissionof the Revd P. Oliver. The tower was begun c. 1472, as evidenced by the 'Thomas Vyal' tile, commemorating the bequest of six marks by a prosperous localcarpenter in Decemberthat year, for workon the new`stepyr, and twotilesinscribedwiththe name ofWilliamDensy,Prior of the Augustinianhouse at Ixworth, 1467-84,one of them alsodated 1472.

  • AUTUMN 2014 NEWSLETTER [email protected] @Bb4suffolk
SUFFOLK BETTER BROADBAND PROGRAMME NEWSLETTER - AUTUMN 2014 MESSAGE FROM MARK “Exciting time for the Suffolk Better Broadband Programme! Our first tranche of rollouts are going extremely well. We are now well over halfway through our rollout process, and moving into more and more rural areas. We are also continuing to deliver upgrades to people connected directly to the telephone exchange, and therefore ordinarily not able to access fibre broadband. As usual, the tables overleaf contain lists of areas which have gone live last quarter, and also those planned to be live by Christmas. In this edition, we have also added in some additional information about detailed progress with the upgrades, as we are very aware that people spot these green cabinets shooting up everywhere, and want to know when they are live! The reality is that this is the easy bit, and we then have to connect them up to fibre, which often has to travel tens of kilometres to reach them. We also have to arrange for UK Power Networks to come out and connect the power up, and also negotiate way leaves and permissions for ducts and poles. In addition to our first contract, which will increase the existing coverage achieved by commercial companies to 85%, we have made great strides with solutions for those who are in the other 15% of the county. I should highlight that these are not just rural areas; some of our major towns are still struggling and awaiting upgrades. To address this remaining 15%, we are pleased to announce that we have signed a second contract.
