“Who does this?” Last week, Samoa News posted this photo on our Facebook page — a government owned truck, license plate #PD-03 — and asked our readers to write out a caption for it, based solely on what they see. The response was overwhelming — all negative — and pointing to the obvious abuse of power. A local resident, snapped the photo on the date and time indicated on the photo, at the LBJ Medical Center parking lot, near the side entrance leading to the medical ward. Yellow lines in a parking lot generally mean the spot is not to be used for parking. Apparently in this case, government owned vehicles are exempt from the rule? Not only is the vehicle parked in a prohibited spot, the front passenger tire is clearly on the curb, halfway on the sidewalk. The license plate indicates that the vehicle belongs to the Public Defender’s Office but Samoa News was unable to confirm who was driving it. About the best that can be said — at least it isn’t parked in the handicap parking space.
