Encore University Winter/Spring 2021 Semester Yoga with Jenni Brandon

Encore University Winter/Spring 2021 Semester with Jenni Brandon (E-RYT 500, RPYT) Hello! I am so thrilled to share yoga with you during this 15-week program! Each week we’ll have a themed yoga practice where we focus on a part of the body or intention, practice breathe work and . Throughout the semester we’ll rotate through three different types of yoga classes that are all beneficial to support you as a singer and use poses, breathe work, and meditation that you can do every day! Look for yoga handouts so you can continue your yoga practice at home. Here are descriptions of the three types of classes I’ll offer:

1. Gentle Stretch and – We’ll spend this calm and grounding class mostly seated or lying on the ground using props* such as blankets, strap (or belt or scarf), and pillows to support us as we lengthen, gently stretch, and open the body. 2. – In this practice we’ll move between the floor and standing poses, building strength, endurance, and flexibility in the body. Modifications offered. Props such as blankets, strap (or belt or scarf), and pillows are used. 3. Chair Yoga – Grab a chair with no arms as we use it to create a practice focused on posture, alignment, stretching, and support that we can use in rehearsals and performances. Props such as blankets, strap (or belt or scarf), and pillows are used. *Suggested Props I love using props to support a yoga practice! These help us get comfortable, feel supported, and find our way safely into poses. March 23: Gentle Stretch and Restorative – Open Your Heart 10. March 30: Easter Break 11. April 6: Hatha – Finding balance 12. April 13: Chair Yoga – Lengthening the side body for better breath and posture 13. April 20: Hatha – Get Twisted! unwinding the spine and making room to breathe 14. April 27: Gentle Stretch and Restorative - The Gratitude Attitude: Finding Contentment 15. May 4: Hatha – Standing on Solid Ground 16. May 11: Mix of Chair and Gentle Stretch/Restorative: Shine Your Light: Celebrating YOU!
