We must let us know if you’re planning to attend the 2018 CDES Commencement Ceremony! Please go to this quick, online survey to give us all the information we need to make this a memorable event for everyone. Click here for the survey Deadline: Friday, April 6, 2018 TICKETS ● Tickets are required and will be sent to you electronically by the Northop Auditorium Box office. ● Each student who responds by the deadline will receive up to six tickets (you do not need a ticket for yourself). ● We cannot guarantee that tickets will be available for students who do not take the survey by the deadline. ● If you desire two additional tickets (if available) contact [email protected]. Requests for additional tickets will be distributed first come, first served. Until the survey closes, we will not know how many additional tickets will be available. Opportunities Call for posters: Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit 2018 Deadline to submit abstracts: March 11, 2018 Event: April 23, 2018 | Walter Library The Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit, a student-led event, will convene urban planners, city staff, activists, students and academics to examine where we've been and where we're going regarding environmental equity. The event will explore equity in the context of public parks, urban green spaces and outdoor recreation areas in the Twin Cities and beyond. We invite posters presentations with subject matter relating to environmental equity work being done in Minnesota, on national policy issues relating to equity, and/or civic engagement in parks and public spaces. Find more information on the Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit WILA-MN STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARD - Call for Submissions The goal of this award is to recognize the accomplishments of emerging women leaders in our field. The award competition is open to women in their second or third-year of the Master of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Minnesota. WILA–MN MISSION STATEMENT Provide a professional networking and mentoring forum to support Minnesota women in landscape architecture including long-time practitioners, young professionals, undergraduate and graduate students, and to build diversity through engagement of high school students. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS Online form, located at https://aslamn.wufoo.com/forms/wilamn-student-leadership-prize/ 500 max word description of a specific accomplishment during your time as a student at the University of Minnesota that illustrates your emerging leadership in the profession of Landscape Architecture. Supporting images or documents can be attached, but are not required. ● Name and contact information of a reference familiar with your leadership efforts. ● Selected applicants may be asked to attend an in-person interview to discuss their submission. AWARD Winner will be awarded $1000 as well as recognition and dinner at the ASLA – MN Annual Award Banquet on April 20, 2018. (Complimentary banquet registration provided). Award notification will be April 8th, 2018. Internship and Employment Garden Club of Virginia: 2018 PAID summer research fellowships for MLA/MHP students Spend your summer researching and documenting the landscape history of a National Historic Landmark in Virginia. Washington Conservation District Designer Position For job position details view the attached document. Events Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit On April 23rd, the University of Minnesota is hosting the first annual Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit. The goal for this event is to spark discussions between academics, advocates, planners, city staff, and civil society groups on issues relating to access, inclusion, and equity in our parks and green spaces. The theme for the event is Justice in the Parks. We are currently accepting submissions for poster presentations (see attached the Call for Posters). We especially encourage faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers to submit. More information about the event can be found at this link. In the spirit of accessibility, the event is FREE! We encourage attendees to RSVP on the website so that we can plan for food and materials accordingly. .
