We must let us know if you’re planning to attend the 2018 CDES Commencement Ceremony! Please go to this quick, online survey to give us all the information we need to make this a memorable event for everyone. Click here for the survey ​ ​ Deadline: Friday, April 6, 2018 TICKETS ● Tickets are required and will be sent to you electronically by the Northop Auditorium Box office. ● Each student who responds by the deadline will receive up to six tickets (you do not need a ticket for yourself). ● We cannot guarantee that tickets will be available for students who do not take the survey by the deadline. ● If you desire two additional tickets (if available) contact [email protected]. Requests for additional tickets will be distributed first come, first served. Until the survey closes, we will not know how many additional tickets will be available. Opportunities Call for posters: Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit 2018 Deadline to submit abstracts: March 11, 2018 Event: April 23, 2018 | Walter Library ​ The Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit, a student-led event, will convene urban planners, city staff, activists, students and academics to examine where we've been and where we're going regarding environmental equity. The event will explore equity in the context of public parks, urban green spaces and outdoor recreation areas in the Twin Cities and beyond. We invite posters presentations with subject matter relating to environmental equity work being done in Minnesota, on national policy issues relating to equity, and/or civic engagement in parks and public spaces. Find more information on the Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit ​ WILA-MN STUDENT LEADERSHIP AWARD - Call for Submissions The goal of this award is to recognize the accomplishments of emerging women leaders in our field. The award competition is open to women in their second or third-year of the Master of Landscape Architecture program at the University of Minnesota. WILA–MN MISSION STATEMENT Provide a professional networking and mentoring forum to support Minnesota women in landscape architecture including long-time practitioners, young professionals, undergraduate and graduate students, and to build diversity through engagement of high school students. SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS Online form, located at https://aslamn.wufoo.com/forms/wilamn-student-leadership-prize/ ​ 500 max word description of a specific accomplishment during your time as a student at the University of Minnesota that illustrates your emerging leadership in the profession of Landscape Architecture. You can find the online application by clicking Here. ​ ​ ​ ​ Washington Conservation District Designer Position For job position details view the attached document. ​ ​ Events Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit On April 23rd, the University of Minnesota is hosting the first annual Minneapolis Environmental Equity Summit. The goal for this event is to spark discussions between academics, advocates, planners, city staff, and civil ​ ​ society groups on issues relating to access, inclusion, and equity in our parks and green spaces. The theme for the event is Justice in the Parks. We are currently accepting submissions for poster presentations (see attached the Call for Posters). We especially encourage faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers to submit. More information about the event can be found at this link. In the spirit of accessibility, the event is FREE! We ​ ​ ​ ​ encourage attendees to RSVP on the website so that we can plan for food and materials accordingly. ​ ​ .

Martin, PhD Abimbola Asojo, PhD (contact: [email protected]) ([email protected]) Martin & Guerin Design Research, LLC Suyeon Bae, PhD Minneapolis, MN College of Design University of Minnesota 1.0 Overview The purpose of this report is to examine the connection between sustainable design criteria used in the design of the UMTC John T. Tate Hall (Tate Hall) facility and occupants’ satisfaction with their classroom environments located in this building. The Tate Hall facility renovation was designed using the 2009 B3 Guidelines (formerly known as the Minnesota Sustainable Building Guidelines or MSBG), which were in effect at the time that the new facility was completed for occupancy in August 2017. The B3 Guidelines track specific state-funded, B3 buildings as a means of demonstrating real outcomes aimed at the conservation of energy resources, creation and maintenance of healthy environments, and occupants’ satisfaction with their environments. The Sustainable Post-Occupancy Evaluation Survey (SPOES) was developed to assess human outcomes in workplace, classroom, and residence hall settings in compliance with the B3 Guidelines project tracking requirements. This is a report of occupants’ (hereafter called students) responses at 14 months post-occupancy. The survey was conducted in late-October through early-November 2018. This SPOES report focuses on students’ satisfaction with the physical environment as related to 23 indoor environmental quality (IEQ) criteria such as lighting, thermal, and acoustic conditions in their primary classrooms.

Aiidersen Library as a case study, this article explores the variety of plan- ning and design issues that must be addressed in the building process. The Andersen Library is unique for its site selection and for the successfuljoin- ing of eight archives and special collection units in a single building. This exploration looks at how the internal library planning meshes with the ar- chitectural design process; how chance events can present innovative de- s&gn opportunities; and how the political process can affect funding prior- ities and other realities. INTRODUCTION More than any project undertaken at the University of Minnesota, the building of the Elmer L. Andersen Library was believed by many to be a virtual impossibility.A complete description of all that went into the plan- ning, funding, engineering, designing, and construction of the building that became the Elmer L. Andersen Library would far exceed any reason- able bounds. This article focuses on those issues central to these five aspects of this building's creation. Disc2z,ion of graduation requirements, possible majors, and course offerings for each school is limited unless otherwise specified, to the area'of liberal arts and sciences. Listed in the appendices are abbreviations used in this text and other educational publications, useful addresses for each CIC school, application fees, deadlines for application, notification dates and registration fees, admissions requirements, centers for testing and schools accepting credit in the College-Level Examination Program, and a list of majors for each school in the areas traditionally covered by liberal arts and sciences.
