Research and Original Creative Work

Program of Research and/or Focus of Original Creative Work

I am an evolutionary geneticist who does both experimental and theoretical work. My major interest is the genetics of variation and adaptation in an ecological context. My major experimental work studies the relationship between mutation, developmental variation and variation in the wings and legs of Drosophila melanogaster, the fruit . We are carrying out a large-scale study of the effects of changes in gene expression on wing shape, coupled with genome-wide association studies and developmental modeling to test our understanding of the interaction between development and evolution.
