PBS time stamps: https://vimeo.com/147219363 Day 1: Act I Start with Act 1 Scene 3 Start at 7:30 (MacBeth and get off the elevator, “So foul and fair a day…”) End at 34:28 (end of Act I) Total run time: 27 minutes Day 2: Act II Start with Act II Scene 1: Start at 35:36 (When Banquo hears MacBeth enter) Stop at 48:07 (MacBeth and Lady in elevator holding hands - End of Act II Scene II) Total run of this section: 13 minutes Skip Porter monologue, introduce that has come Resume at MacBeth’s entrance at 51:37 (Scene 3) End at 59:50 (MacDuff drives off – End of Act II) Total run time: 8 minutes Total day run time: 21 minutes Day 3: Act III and IV Start with Act III Scene 1 Start at 1:00:03 (Banquo’s opening speech) If needed, can end at 1:05:28 (skip over MacBeth’s ordering of Banquo’s murder to murderers) (Cuts out 6 minutes) and Resume at 1:11:33 (Scene 2) End at 1:16:50 (Scene 3, the next scene is Banquo’s murder, can skip for time) Total section time: 17 minutes Resume at 1:21:37 (start of Scene 4) (Can cut weird dancing out from 1:29:04-1:30:14 when Banquo’s ghost reappears) End at 1:35:18 (End of dinner party, skip Lennox’s interrogation, if you really want to include just end at 1:37:00) Total section time: 14 minutes Act IV – PBS does a very weird “Double double” this might be a good opportunity to show another version. Resume at 1:38:43 (MacBeth exits the elevator to see the witches) (Once again, this may be a good scene to show from another version) End at 1:45:55 Total section time: 7 minutes Total run time for day: 38 minutes Day 4: Act V (rest of play run time is 33 minutes, could be shown in full) Start with 2:05:58 (Act V Scene 1: Sleepwalking scene) Note: Camera is still on Duncan when doctor starts to speak. Fast forward through military action from 2:25:44-2:28:00 (save 3 minutes) End at 2:34:00 when Macbeth dies (can show 2:36:37 to show Malcom with MacBeth’s head) Total run time for day: 27 minutes (including FF)
