PAGE 72 PAGE 73 TWT JULY 10· JULY 16 1987 TWT JULY 10· JULY 16 1987 Week of July 10·16 JULY STARGAZER - The Earth remains with its northern hemisphere tilted toward the Sun, causing continued hot summer weather. It could be even hotter on this side of the equator if the Earth were notat aphelion (its farthest point from the Sun, which happens every year, in early July); astronomers note. If it were at its closest point to Earth every July, summer would certainly be more torrid. Meanwhile, mighty Jupiter is at perihelion (its nearest point to the Sun) for the first time in 12 years. This is why Jupiter is the brightest it ever gets. Jupiter now rises about midnight. Astrologically speaking, lucky Jupiter is now at 27 degrees into Aries. VERY HIGH TIDES - Those traveling down to the coast will now notice tides in the Gulf of Mexico at their highest ever. That's because the Moon-which pulls the tides-is at its closet point in orbit to the Earth on July 11, making its magnetic pull strongest. Adding more impetus to this magnetic mixture is this weekend's Full Moon. POWERFUL FULL MOON - Because the Moon is at its closest point to Earth this weekend, this Friday's Full Moon will be the most powerful and emotional of the lunar year. The Full Moon reaches maximum brightness at 10:33 p.m. this Friday, July 10-the topic of this week's individual STARSCOPE forecasts.
