September brings to mind the beginning of the school year, and the last summer holiday. Mystical and magical Folly is at her best during the fall, with enough warmth to enjoy the ocean and with a hopefully quiet hurricane season. With 100 nests, we have most from our nesting season to our emergence season. Having all lights off for the hatchlings is crucial. We have had several disorientations where hatchlings were confused by lights and went towards land instead of towards the water. If you happen to see an emergence, please stay away and allow them to get to the water. Contact Public Safety for any issues or concerns. Public inventories will not be posted on our website, however, if you see one in progress, feel free to stop and watch. We’ll be more than happy to answer your questions.

GREEN TEAM Yard of the Month by Lynn Ray Smalley

September's Yard of the Month, 410 East Huron, has been home to Fall gardening is just around the corner. Garden plots for the Joanna and Brian Damico since 2014 after their love for each other and 2021-22 garden season are available for only Folly began while working at our own Lost Dog. Together they have created a multi dimensional garden utilizing Joanna's layering skills. $110 for the entire season or $75 for half season.

Next they encompassed the central bird bath with purple pentas, Teresa Marshall elephant ears and wire vine. Joanna's annual garden showcasing "living color" mirroring the colors of the sunset with purple, pink, white and orange vincas among elephant ears, coleus and pink fountain grass reside at the deck entrance The Sandspur with purple Mexican petunias and rise cone flowers.

Viburnam leads the way in the far right side bed followed by foxtail and purple plumbago on either side of their herb garden box. Brian utilizes the oregano, rosemary, thyme and mint grown within when cooking. A tangerine tree offering fruit ever other year follows.

Joanna's layering acumen is evident on the right side of their home where a favorite purple fringed loropetulum precedes a Carolina jasmine above.. Their crowning glory is in back of their home where a wooden arbor Brian built for their wedding nuptials in Awendaw, now graces the garden they created. Our congratulations to the Damicos.
