Magic and mythology are popular themes in fantasy. 1. Douglas Adams – The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: I loved the humour of the book; it made me laugh out loud. I also liked the advice “don 't panic”. 2. Ray Bradbury – Fahrenheit 451 3. Aldous Huxley – Brave New World 4. John Wyndham – The Day of the Triffids 5. Kazuo Ishiguro – Never Let Me Go 1. The Matrix series: I was stunned by the main theme, by the simple idea of us humans being used as “batteries” and, of course, Keanu Reeves is gorgeous. 2. Men in Black 3. I, Robot 4. War of the Worlds 5. Avatar 1. Philip Pullman – His Dark Materials: I fell in love with the book at first sight; I especially enjoyed the magical world created by Pullman. 2. J. R. R. Tolkien – The Lord of the Rings 3. Terry Pratchett – Masquerade 4. J. K Rowling – Harry Potter books 5. Lewis Carroll –Alice's Adventures in Wonderland 1. The Lord of the Rings film trilogy: I admired the way Peter Jackson adapted the books, the movies were almost as good as the original. 2. Harry Potter film series 3. Underworld series 4. Alice in Wonderland 5. The Chronicles of Narnia Úkol č. 3 Douglas Adams – The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: I have to say that I really enjoyed both – the book and the movie. I saw the movie first, because a friend of mine told me I should watch it – and he was right. The film thrilled me in the very beginning, when Arthur finds himself in a terrible situation - lying in front of the bulldozers. I enjoyed all the jokes – the towel, whales and a bowl of petunia as well as British humour. After seeing the film, I immediately went to a bookshop and bought all five books – and I didn't regret – I could relish all the jokes again. And only then I realized how fantastic the book is and that it is the book that allowed the director to create such a good film. As far as characters are concerned, my most favourite book character is Arthur Dent, thrown into space just with a towel. But in the film, I loved Marvin the Paranoid Android. All in all I think the film is worth seeing, because it makes you laugh. And if you fall in love with it, there are the books waiting for you. Úkol č. 4 1.
