[email protected] (J.B.H. Shyu). Abstract Taiwan’s numerous active faults and folds demarcate distinct eastern and western neotectonic belts. The western belt results from the attachment and subsequent detachment of a sliver of continental lithosphere to the Eurasian continental margin.
