“The Greatest Gift Is the Realization That Life Does Not Consist Either In
“The greatest gift is the realization that life does not consist either in wallowing in the past or peering anxiously into the future; and it is appalling to contemplate the great number of often painful steps by which ones arrives at a truth so old, so obvious, and so frequently expressed. It is good for one to appreciate that life is now. Whatever it offers, little or much, life is now –this day-this hour.” Charles Macomb Flandrau Ernest Hemingway drank here. Cuban revolutionaries Fidel Castro and Che Guevera drank here. A longhaired young hippie musician named Jimmy Buffett drank and performed here, too. From the 1930’s through today this rustic dive bar has seen more than its share of the famous and the infamous. It’s a little joint called Capt. Tony’s in Key West, Florida. Eighty-seven-year-old Anthony ‘Capt. Tony’ Tarracino has been the owner and proprietor of this boozy establishment since 1959. It seems Tony, as a young mobster, got himself into some serious trouble with ‘the family’ back in New Jersey and needed to lay low for a while. In those days, the mosquito invested ‘keys’ (or islands) on the southernmost end of Florida’s coastline was a fine place for wise guys on the lam to hide out. And this was well before the tee-shirt shops, restaurants, bars, art galleries, charming B&B’s and quaint hotels turned Key West into a serious year-round tourist destination. Sure, there were some ‘artsy’ types like Hemingway and Tennessee Williams living in Key West during the late 50’s when Tony bought the bar, but it was a seaside shanty town where muscular hard-working men in shrimp boats and cutters fished all day for a living. -

Key to London Map of Days
A London Map of Days This is the key to the daily details that feature on my etching A London Map of Days. I posted these every day on both Facebook and Twitter from the 9 February 2015 through to 8 February 2016. As the project continued, I began to enjoy myself and treat it more like a blog and so there is a marked difference between the amount of detail I have included at the beginning and the end of that year. 1 January 1660 Samuel Pepys begins writing his famous diary. He started the diary when he was only 26 years old and kept it for 10 years. He was a naval administrator and even though he had no maritime experience, he rose by a combination of hard work, patronage and talent for administration to be the Chief Secretary to the Admiralty under King Charles II and King James II. His diary, which was not published until the 19th century was written in a cryptic, personal shorthand and the first person to fully transcribe it, did so without the benefit of the key. It was not until 1970 that an unabridged version was published as previous editions had omitted passages deemed too obscene to print, usually involving Pepys sexual exploits. The diary combines personal anecdotes (often centred around drinking) with eyewitness accounts of great events such as the Great Plague of London, the Second Dutch War and the Great Fire of London. It is a glorious work and was a constant source of inspiration for my map. Daily detail from A London Map of Days. -

Préambule Des Cousins, Des Cousines, on En a Tous. Ou Presque. Parfois

Preface: "Tales of the Golden Eye" is written as a 1st hand account by Eider Chess, a demented covert operative. It is a satirical rock and roll conspiracy story about some of the mysteries of our musical culture and times. Sections of the document are “Journal Entries” with crossed out editing –left in the document for their implication. The final chapter is presented in the form of a screen play so the commentary by individuals is easier for the reader to follow. And so it goes: When WWII ended the OSS was shut down by The US Congress because in the spirit of "anti- Communism" they allowed Nazis to escape to South America. So a new secret service called the CIA was created. But 1st our principle players: In 1915 the English wanted to blame someone for “what had happened” So a German Master spy was named who “sold out the Empire”. He was charged with conspiracy, arrested, tried, convicted & Imprisoned in quick order. And then he just simply walked out of prison one day & began a career of involvement in the back rooms of international Intrigue. He was……… Ignaz Treblitch Lincoln- born in 1879 in Hungary, to a wealthy orthodox Jewish family. He immigrated to England in 1899 where he converted to Christianity, became an Anglican Minister, a Member of Parliament, “The Greatest German Spy of WWI”, an “agent of the Counter-Initiation,” and in time a Buddhist Monk, Guru to the Rich and finally the First Director of the Golden Eye. Little is recorded of Eider Chess. Historically he is associated with “Project Chalice” and the U2 Spy Incident. -
