2.5 Ukraine Waterways Assessment Ukraine has high potential navigable rivers - over 4 thousand km: there are traditional waterways Dnipro - 1,205 km and its tributaries (Desna- 520 km, Pripyat - 60 km) and Dunay - 160 km, Bug - 155 km, and other so-called small rivers. Dnipro River and its major tributaries Desna and Pripyat carried out to 90% of total transport. The remaining 10% are Dunai and other rivers (Desna, Dniester, Southern Bug, Seversky Donets, Ingulets, Vorskla, etc.). Since Ukraine gained independence in 1991, length of river waterways decreased almost twice (from 4 thousand. Km to 2.1 thousand. Km). At the same time the density of river shipping routes reduced 1.75 times; intensity of freight transport - in 4,3 times, and passenger transportation - 7.5 times The volume of traffic fellt to 60 mln. MT in 1990 to 12 mln. MT in 2006, and then - to 5 mln. MT in 2014. Over the past two or three years, inland waterway transportation is only 0.2 - 0.8% of all the cargo traffic. The main categories of goods that are transported via inland waterway – agricultural products (mainly grain), metal products, chemicals. Company Information Only few companies operate on rivers. Assessment of the environmental contamination and the resulting radiation exposure of the population was an important part of the International Chernobyl Project in 1990–1991. This project was designed to assess the measures that the then USSR Government had taken to enable people to live safely in contaminated areas, and to evaluate the measures taken to safeguard human health there. It was organized by the IAEA under the auspices of an International Advisory Committee with the participation of the Commission of the European Communities (CEC), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation (UNSCEAR), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). The IAEA has also been engaged in further studies in this area through projects such as the one on validation of environmental model predictions (VAMP) and through its technical co-operation programme. -

ABSTRACT The article shows that there are resources for extending the national list of potential Areas of Special Conservation Interest (ASCI's) of the Emerald network in densely populated and old-developed regions. The representativeness of the Belyj Kolodez nature complex (Russia, Belgorod region) is substantiated. Based on the survey of the territory, the types of priority habitats were identified according to the EUNIR classification, their floral characteristics are given taking into consideration the geographical features of the European Russia, Central Black Soil Region and the region under consideration, a list of priority species of vascular plants is given. The Standing Committee of the Bern Convention conferred the status of potential Emerald network areas to 740 Russian ASCI's. In the Belgorod region, nine areas were given such status [1-5]. The Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 adopted within the Convention on Biological Diversity provides for the formation of a representative system of Areas of Special Conservation Interest covering at least 17 per cent of the terrestrial and inland water areas of the relevant geographic allotment (of a state, region, etc.). -

In this regard, it is necessary to implement comprehensive measures to prevent and reduce the deterioration of water quality, to develop the effective methods of removing the phosphorus-containing substances from wastewater, to conduct constant monitoring (through automated observation posts) of surface water quality with timely manage- ment decisions. The adsorption properties of granular composite materials based on glauconite were investigated The composite granular glauconite materials with sunflower husk adsorbent have been found to be most effective. Abstract: The state of ecological balance of cities is determined by the analysis of the qualitative composition of green space. The lack of green space inventory in small towns in the Kyiv region has prompted the use of express analysis provided by the EOS Land Viewer platform, which allows obtaining an instantaneous distribution of the urban and suburban territories by a number of vegetative indices and in recent years – by scene classification. The purpose of the study is to determine the current state and dynamics of the ratio of vegetation and built-up cover of the territories of small towns in Kyiv region with establishing the rating of towns by eco-balance of territories. The distribution of the territory of small towns by the most common vegetation index NDVI, as well as by S AVI, which is more suitable for areas with vegetation coverage of less than 30%, has been monitored. -

In the 1970s, six dams were commissioned, and respective monitoring infrastructure was installed. Riverbanks and valley floors composed of unconsolidated material have much lower bank strengths and are susceptible to fluvial erosion and bank collapse, particularly during the release of high flow volumes from hydropower dams. The regulation of the Dnieper River along a cascade of storage reservoirs caused significant changes in its active river channel and hydrological regime. In order to estimate channel stability downstream of the Kaniv reservoir, we conducted an analysis of the hydraulic conditions in terms of changes in flow velocity and propagation of waves caused by intervention water discharges from the Kaniv Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP). -
