September 2001 in New York verursacht.

Abstract The 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran was based and formed upon the concept of Khomeinism, the religious, political, and social ideas of Ayatullah Ruhollah Khomeini. While the Iranian revolution was carried out with the slogans of independence, freedom, and Islamic Republic, Khomeini's framework gave it a specific impetus for the unity of people, religious culture, and leadership. Khomeinism was not just an effort, on a religious basis, to alter a national system. It included and was dependent upon the projection of a clash beyond a “national” struggle, including was a clash of ideology with that associated with the United States. Analysing the Iran-US relationship over the past century and Khomeini’s interpretation of it, this thesis attempts to show how the Ayatullah projected "America" versus Iranian national freedom and religious pride.

Soft War: A New Episode in the Old Conflicts Between Iran and the United States Abstract Soft war is ubiquitous today with the way the Islamic Republic of Iran characterizes its relationship with the West, and is a key concern of Iranian national security policy. Few, however, have seriously undertaken the task of defining what soft war is in concrete terms. This analysis proposes a definition of soft war grounded in Joseph Nye’s concept of ‘soft power’ and the history of Iran’s encounter with the West, particularly the United States. In this framework, soft war is the exercise of soft power by the United States on Iran, creating security challenges for the Islamic Republic and forcing the Republic to respond. This analysis not only explores the genealogy of this conflict and how it has unfolded under the Islamic Republic, but also attempts to assess the regime’s strategy in the soft war.

Also, this idea has benefited from some of the features of Iranian and Islamic political culture; therefore, it has been shown in a new form, called the tradition of freedom of Islam. One of the most important manifestations of this tradition can be seen in the formation of political thought after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. The main question of this research, after explaining the idea of libertarian Islam in the form of an intellectual tradition, is how this idea has been effective in shaping the constitution and the nature of the political system in contemporary Iran. The results of this study show that the main issue of liberal thought in Iran was freedom of the public and restrictions on the duties of the government. In this regard, the original "non" has been absolutism. Thus, at the same time as the formation of the constitution after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, in spite of the inability to achieve complete power and the hegemony in the field of thought, it tried to prevent the widespread extension of the functions of the political system by ormulating restrictive laws of political power.
