Pritchett Somehow, someway, we survived 2009 and are into trying to make it alive and in one piece to the end of 2010. Mostly because I openly advocated my views and beliefs regarding the assault on our liberty and freedom over the past year, macCompanion has lost a number of staff members. We also lost readers. It would appear that overall, a good portion of the Macintosh community appear to be “elite” in more ways than one. We apparently tend to be anarchists (we are rebels against authority). It has been written before, but there is a “Macintosh Mentality” that defies description as being either right, left, conservative or liberal. I would suggest that overall, we might even be considered to be apolitical, if we were mixed into some kind of group. So we will “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate_the_Positive (Johnny Mercer / Harold Arlen) You've got to accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In-Between You've got to spread joy up to the maximum Bring gloom down to the minimum Have faith or pandemonium Liable to walk upon the scene (To illustrate his last remark Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark What did they do Just when everything looked so dark) MPN, LLC Copyright 2003-2010 Page 5 of 102 Volume 9 Issue 1 January 2010 Man, they said we better Accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In-Between No, do not mess with Mister In-Between Do you hear me, hmm? (Oh, listen to me children and-a you will hear About the eliminatin' of the negative And the accent on the positive) And gather 'round me children if you're willin' And sit tight while I start reviewin' The attitude of doin' right (You've gotta accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In-Between) You've got to spread joy (up to the maximum) Bring gloom (down) down to the minimum Otherwise (otherwise) pandemonium Liable to walk upon the scene To illustrate (well illustrate) my last remark (you got the floor) Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark What did they say (what did they say) Say when everything looked so dark Man, they said we better Accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In-Between No! Don't mess with Mister In-Between http://www.mathematik.uni-ulm.de/paul/lyrics/bingcrosby/accent~1.html We seem to be much like the hallucinating bed-ridden, chronically ill person shown in the British TV series, “The Singing Detective”. Accentuate the Positive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKrC9Tu8gpo MPN, LLC Copyright 2003-2010 Page 6 of 102 Volume 9 Issue 1 January 2010 We can go on pretending that the world as we know it will continue and good will overcome evil, but meanwhile, the employment rates continue to decline as small businesses implode, nobody cries over spilled financial institutions any longer, property values have popped and the US Constitution has not only been dethreaded, it has been completely been ignored and the USA has been taken over by everything counter to common sense, morality and decency! We may individually get through the current situation, but sorry to say, the future does not look so bright and we see latter-day prophecy is being fulfilled. We may survive, but we will endure battering and bruising and what does not kill us will indeed make us stronger! Will macCompanion survive the onslaught of economic upheaval? Only time will tell. Purchase the PDF version of the magazine and let us know what you really think. Otherwise, we fold too. By the way, it seems everybody is asking for more money these days. We are not the only ones. Gene Steinberg, who is on our staff, also needs help - http://www.technightowl.com/2009/12/an-urgent-request-from-the-night-owl/ "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" lyrics by Yip Harburg, music by Jay Gorney (1931) They used to tell me I was building a dream, and so I followed the mob, When there was earth to plow, or
