Become a member The Noorat and District Agricultural & Pastoral Society was founded in 1932 to promote agricultural and industrial progress in the region. The Society’s Annual Noorat Show is held on the third Saturday in November. It is one of the largest one-day shows between and Mt Gambier. The Show boasts a huge variety of trade promotions, is a showcase for regional livestock, working dogs and horseflesh, and provides general entertainment for the whole family throughout the day. 7 SAFETY REGULATIONS FOR EXHIBITORS 1. DUTY OF CARE All competitors have a “Duty of Care” to avoid exposing themselves or other people to situations that could lead to injury. This “Duty of Care” extends to the prevention of damage to property. 2. DIRECTION OF NOORAT & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL & PASTORAL SOCIETY INC. (“NOORAT & DISTRICT A&P SOCIETY”) Competitors must comply with any reasonable request of the Noorat & District A&P Society representatives. 3. FIRST AID During the Noorat Show, first aid services will be available on the grounds. 4. NOORAT SHOW EMERGENCY FACILITIES Fire fighting facilities and other emergency equipment must not be removed or used for any other purpose. Missing or unserviceable equipment should be reported to the Secretary’s Office immediately. 5. HAZARDS & INCIDENT REPORTING Exhibitors and competitors must notify the Secretary’s Office immediately of any hazards detected or incidents. Hazards or incidents are any situation that has or could result in: • The injury, illness or death of any person or animal • The damage, destruction of loss of property. 6. HOUSEKEEPING All areas must be kept in clean and tidy order with clearly defined and access available access and exit routes available at all times. Build-up of combustible waste must be avoided. 7. WASTE DISPOSAL All waste, including liquids, must be disposed of responsibly. Exhibitors must take all waste with them when they depart. Storms drains must not be used for the disposal of waste. 8. SLIPS, TRIPS & FALLS Care must be taken to minimize trip hazards and obstacles that people may walk into. Avoid laying unprotected cables or pipes on or above paths, walkways or roads. 9. MEDIA COMMENTS Media comment about matters involving NOORAT & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL & PASTORAL SOCIETY INC should be referred to the President or Secretary. 10. ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT (a) Competitors should supply their own “Safety Switch” (RDC) for installation at each power outlet they use. (b) Extension cords must be earthed and all electrical appliances must be earthed or double insulated. Appliances must be in a sound working order. (c) The use of double adaptors is strictly prohibited. Power boards must be fitted with current overload protection. (d) Radiant electric or gas heaters are prohibited. (e) Light sockets must not be used for any other purpose than lighting. (f) No naked flame permitted. (g) All Exhibitor electrical items (including leads) must have current safety compliance tags.

You may find some errors in this schedule. This is in keeping with our policy of having something for everyone. Even those who look for mistakes.

8 GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. All entries must be made subject to the rules and regulations of the society. 2. The name and address of exhibitor and breed of the animal must be given in to the Secretary. 3. All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor 21 days prior to date of show. Lend or leasehold not recognised as bona fide owner. 4. If in the opinion of the judges the exhibit in any class is not worthy of a prize, no award need be given, and in all classes honourable mention will be given either as a second, third or fourth prize if the judge deems the exhibit worthy. 5. All stock entered in any class, if over age specified, will be disqualified. 6. Ages date for Beef cattle from November 1, and Dairy Cattle from July 1, except where otherwise stated. Ages date for horses from August 1. 7. All male animals exhibited in the Breeding classes must be visibly entire. All cattle must be registered with their respective breed societies. 8. Should any cow entered in the dry class calve, she automatically goes in the wet class. 9. All cows or heifers in the dry classes must be visibly in calf and must be stripped out prior to entering the judging ring. 10. Stewards have the right to reject any cattle showing signs of ringworm. 11. All cattle must be secured by halter. Poll exhibits and dehorned exhibits shall be securely tied up by both an effective collar or neck rope and halter at all times when not under the immediate and effective control of an attendant. All bulls over one year old must be secured by the nose when being led, and all bulls of one year and over must be rung. In the beef section all females must be fitted with a nose grip when being led. No deduction of points in judging will be made for dehorning. 12. Positive identification of all animals must be produced on demand. 13. All stock must be ready for judging at the time stipulated at the head of the Section and must not be removed from the ground until the completion of all judging in the Section without the permission of the Steward in charge of the section. 14. Stewards will be appointed to accompany the judges to prevent interference, and to give all possible information and assistance to judges and exhibitors, but no steward shall it take upon thmselves to disqualify any exhibit. 15. After examination the judges shall sign and give their report to the Secretary, and their awards shall be final. 16. All stock which has taken prizes in horse and cattle sections, except fat cattle, must be paraded in the ring when requested by the stewards, otherwise prizes may be forfeited. Dust coats must be worn by those leading cattle in the Grand Parade. 17. The Committee reserves the right of refusing, cancelling, or rejecting any entry without giving reason for so doing. 18. The decision of the Committee in all points shall be final without recourse. 19. The Committee may withhold any prize where an exhibitor in making an entry has made statements proved to its satisfaction to be erroneous, or fraudulent, such exhibitor and his stock will be disqualified and debarred from exhibiting, riding or competing at the Society’s Show during the pleasure of the Committee. A disqualified exhibitor, if also a member shall be liable to expulsion from the Society. 9 20. Reasonable care will be taken of exhibits, but no responsibility will be incurred by the Society for any loss or damage to same. And it shall be a condition of entry to exhibits and of admission of persons to the Show Grounds that under no circumstances can the Society be held in any way responsible for any damages or costs for any injury, damage or accident to any person or exhibit or property of any kind that may occur in the Show Grounds. Every person who enters the Show Grounds or who competes in any event does so at his or her sole risk. 21. Exhibits must not wear ribbons previously won at any other show. 22. Any steward or judge may order any animal not under proper control to be removed from the ground. 23. Protests must be lodged with the Secretary not later than 72 hours after 6pm on day of show, accompanied with a deposit of $20. Protests will be considered by the Show Committee and if reasonable grounds are shown, deposits will be refunded. 24. Any disqualification will be endorsed by all affiliated Societies of the SW Group of VAS Ltd. 25. Entries must be made on the Society’s official form and telephone entries will not be recorded unless confirmed in writing. 26. The Committee reserves the right to amend the program in accordance with unexpected donations. 27. All persons causing annoyance by loud comments on the decision of the judges or by other unseemly or insulting behaviour will, after having been cautioned by a member of the Committee, a steward, the judge, or the Secretary, be expelled from the Show; or, if an exhibitor, may have his exhibit disqualified. 28. The attention of exhibitors is specially directed to clauses in the Regulations as regards the time fixed for making entries in the respective classes. The Secretary’s instructions are imperative and will be strictly adhered to. 29. Owner’s liability of Animals and Trade Space Liability. All Exhibitors/ Owners must provide their own public liability insurance. 30. Photographs - The Noorat & District Ag & Pastoral Society Inc will be taking photographs which may be used on the Show website, Facebook and other advertising/media, etc. Your attendance is considered permission for the images to be used. 31. Respect - Bullying is an issue in many sports today. VAS Ltd wants members, organisers and officials to know that bullying is not acceptable at any VAS Ltd event. Every official, competitor and helper has the right to be treated with dignity and respect. VAS Ltd has a responsibility to ensure this occurs at our events. VAS Ltd can only discipline the appropriate person/s if intimidation is reported. We encourage any person who feels that they have been bullied to report it in writing to VAS Ltd: • Reports will be handled promptly and confidentially; • Disciplinary action will be taken against those who have bullied others at events run under the auspices of VAS Ltd.

IMPORTANT The Noorat & District Agricultural & Pastoral Society Inc will not be held liable for any injuries which may be suffered by a person or persons taking part in functions on behalf of an exhibitor. The Exhibitor has the sole responsibility to supply attendants to take charge and control of all his/her entries. OWNERS RESPONSIBILITY Please note that it is the owner’s responsibility to provide security to ensure that their animals are kept safe and secure for the duration of their time on the Noorat Showgrounds/ Recreation Reserve.

10 Section B: HORSES

RULES & REGULATIONS - HORSE EVENTS SECTION 1. Ponies up to and including 14hh 2. Galloways over 14hh to 15hh 3. Hacks over 15hh 4. Horses and ponies can be measured by the Society at the discretion of Stewards and Judges. 5. For Smartest on Parade classes, horse and gear must be the exhibitor’s own property. 6. All exhibits must be bona fide property of the exhibitor or held by them under written lease at the time of entry. 7. All horses shown in breed classes MUST carry respective registration and ownership/membership. 8. Novice is one who has not won First Prize competing singularly or at any agricultural show. 9. Intermediate is one who has not won a Champion Prize competing singularly or at any agricultural show. 10. In Rings 2 and 3, when a horse wins a Champion Ridden in any one ring, it cannot compete in the other ring. 11. All stallions must be neck tied. 12. All stallions or colts one year and over must be led with a bit in the mouth. Handlers must be 18 years or older. 13. Stallions cannot be ridden unless otherwise specified. 14. All Horses, Galloways, Ponies, must have current height certificate or be measured prior to 8am or by demand of the Judge at any time. In such cases, the horse and exhibitor will be accompanied by a Steward to supervise the measuring with the Official Measurer. 15. Swabbing - random swabbing of horses may take place. 16. Show Hunters have more substance than the modern find Hack/ Pony, but still maintain quality. They are expected to gallop for the Judge. They are not expected to jump. The turnout for Show Hunters is more subdued than that of usual saddle classes. There should be no coloured brow bands on Show Hunters, or multi- coloured hair ribbons and flowers on child riders. Junior riders should not wear top boots. Show Hunters cannot compete in Open Classes. 17. All riders must wear helmets that comply with the current Australian rules that came in on 1st January 2017 whilst competing and exercising. NO OTHER HEAD GEAR WILL BE PERMITTED. The retaining harness must be secured and fitted at all times. 18. Harness - whilst ponies and horses are harnessed they must be accompanied by an attendant at all times.

South Western Group of VAS Ltd “Most Successful Large Show Hunter Pony” $50 Prize money will be awarded to the Exhibitor who exhibits the most Champions in one season of the South Western Group of VAS Ltd Shows. The award will be presented at the South Western Group final.
