Ländergruppen, Regionen oder Bevölkerungsgruppen pflegen (sog. «Freundschaftsgruppen») werden separat geführt. Für Auskünfte zu einzelnen Freundschaftsgruppen der Bundesversammlung wenden Sie sich bitte direkt an das Sekretariat der betroffenen Freundschaftsgruppe. Groupes d’amitié parlementaires Directives relatives aux intergroupes parlementaires (ch. 3.3) au sens de l’art. 63 LParl Les intergroupes parlementaires qui se consacrent à un thème particulier et ceux qui cultivent les relations avec d’autres pays ou groupes de pays, régions ou populations (appelés « groupes d’amitié ») font l’objet de listes distinctes. Pour tout renseignement concernant les différents groupe d’amitié parlementaires, veuillez vous adresser directement au secrétariat du groupe concerné. Sommaruga: Although my Mama’s family had come from Lombardy, she was Roman and I had inherited that. However, I always also had a strong Swiss identity. It would never have crossed my mind to say that I was Italian. No, I identify as Swiss, or rather as Italian- speaKing Swiss. O’Leary: And your father was from Ticino? Sommaruga: Yes, he was born in Lugano, where he completed secondary school before he left for St Gallen to study economics. From there he went to Bern to get a Ph.D. After that he went to work in London until his aunt Carolina Maraini Sommaruga called him to come to Rome and help her with managing the villa and the fortune she had been left with since her husband had died. That is why my father went to Rome. O’Leary: You spent most of your childhood in Rome. Did you go to school with local children? Sommaruga: Because my father was an anti-fascist living in fascist Italy, he put me into a Montessori school, which was a private school, so that I did not have to join Mussolini’s youth organisations such as the [Opera Nazionale] Balilla or the Figli della Lupa. So, I was very lucky that I did not become indoctrinated into fascism, but of course the Montessori education I received was also very valuable in and of itself.

    Speakers Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen Fleisch, State secretary, SECO Director and Director of the Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate State Secretary Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch (*1961), Attorney, MBA, SECO Director and Director of the Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate since 1 April 2011. From 2007 Federal Council Ambassador and Delegate for Trade Agreements, Switzerland's chief negotiator at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) as well as member of the SECO Board of Directors and in addition to the WTO responsible for the OECD and free trade agreements as head of the World Trade Division in the Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate. Previously, from 1999 to 2007, head of the WTO sector. From 1995 head of section in the WTO section of the Federal Office of Foreign Economic Affairs FOFEA. 1992/1993 she worked at the World Bank (Washington D.C., USA) as assistant to Switzerland's Executive Director's. From 1990 to 1995 scientific adviser in the Legal Service and International Investment and Technology Transfer Service in the FOFEA. 1989 gained her MBA from INSEAD (Fontainebleau, F). 1988 Junior Consultant at McKinsey in Zurich. 1987 gained her law degree at the University of Berne qualifying as an attorney. Carlo Sommaruga, Member of the Swiss Parliament (National Councillor), President of the Foreign Affairs Committee FAC-N Carlo Sommaruga (1959) studied Law at the University of Geneva. As a lawyer, he has been committed since twenty-five years in the individual and collective defence of tenancy rights. Currently he is the Vice President of the Swiss tenant association (ASLOCA). Before, he was trade unionist and labor lawyer in Geneva.

En septembre 2008, un nouveau cas d’espionnage est mis au jour par la TSR. Une femme cadre chez Securitas a infiltré l’organisation GAR à Lausanne qui a récolté des informations sur des cas de répression et de violence policière. Des éléments découverts récemment laissent conclure que ces manœuvres d’espionnage se seraient poursuivies bien après 2005. • Les soussignés trouvent proprement scandaleux que des entreprises privées se livrent à de telles manœuvres fouineuses. Ils condamnent sans appel les activités d’espionnage menées par Nestlé et de Securitas contre attac et d’autres organisations altermondialistes. De tels agissements contreviennent gravement au droit à la liberté d’expression et à la liberté d’association. • Nous exigeons des responsables de Nestlé et de Securitas qu’ils cessent immédiatement toute forme d’activité fouineuse. • Plutôt que de mandater des espions contre les personnes susceptibles de le critiquer, le géant de l’alimentation Nestlé ferait mieux de gérer ses affaires de manière à faire taire ces mêmes critiques. Les soussignés appellent Nestlé à respecter les travailleurs et les syndicats partout dans le monde, à garantir des prix équitables aux producteurs, à préserver l’environnement et à assurer une qualité irréprochable de ses produits.

The Prize rewards their commitment to the defence and promotion of human rights, democracy and the rule of law as well as to the development of intercultural dialogue and the reinforcement of the North-South partnership and solidarity, in conformity with the principles and priorities of the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe. As institutional stakeholder of the North-South Centre, the Congress is invited to propose two candidates for the North South Prize 2020. List of possible nominations 1. Yvonne AKI-SAWYERR, Mayor of Freetown, Sierra Leone Yvonne AKI-SAWYERR became the second woman mayor of Freetown on 7 March 2018. In 1999, she co-founded the Sierra Leone War Trust (SLWT), which supports disadvantaged youth in Sierra Leone, and remains a member of the Board of Trustees still today. She became involved in the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone as a planning officer at the National Ebola Response Center (NERC). For this commitment, she was awarded the Ebola Gold Medal in December 2015 by the President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma, and was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in 2016.
