What sets EPC Glenrosa apart, however, is the superb quality of the original features, not least in the games room which remains perfectly intact with a Band E spectacular cupola shining natural light directly over the snooker table. The wood panelling in the room is exemplary but most unusually the original gallery remains, with a panelled seating area and ‘players’ WC’ so one could maintain an eye on your opponent at all times to avoid any suggestions of ungentlemanly conduct! The wooden floors, the magnificent wooden staircase with intricate stained glass window, the original Victorian conservatory and polished panelling in the master bedroom are also in immaculate condition and it is clear that the property has been beautifully maintained by not only the current owners but over the passage of time. Glenrosa combines history and character with modern comforts as seen in the contemporary kitchen which has granite work surfaces, tiled floor, breakfasting area, gas hob and lovely views over the garden. Two wood burning stoves in the sitting room and master bedroom again add to the comfort and ambiance of the property, as well as the obvious practical benefits in such a spacious property. Glenrosa is a truly spectacular family home and the opportunity to become the custodian of a great piece of local history awaits. Gardens and Grounds Glenrosa is approached by a gravel driveway bisecting twin stone gate piers as it leads up to a sweeping gravel drive to the front of the property. Either side of the driveway and enclosed within high stone walls are expanses of lawn with herbaceous border, magnificent rhododendrons and wonderful pine trees adding privacy and protection. Cumnock, Ayrshire. Full Transcript Introduction, welcome and information about respondent. Q1. What is your connection to Pennylands Camp? A1. I was born at Grimgrew one of the cottages on the Dumfries House Estate and I was aware of Pennylands from about the age of six and going round with my father who was the Shepherd on Dumfries House Estate and the camp had just been completed but was not occupied to that extent. It wasn’t a prisoner of war camp. The biggest problem they had was that the sewage treatment plant didn’t work because whoever had constructed it had only sealed the connections on top of the pipes with cement. The plant discharged into the river Lugar up river from the Lady’s Bridge. Q2 Can you tell me a little about your family, your parents and any siblings? A3. I was the only one. My mother Violet Cameron was also born and brought up on the estate and she was one of eight. Her father James Cameron was the estate joiner for 50 years as was his father before him. He lived at the Longrig, which is shown on one of the photos you have. There were two houses together at the bottom of the Longrig, one that faced onto the Longrig where John Murray lived and he had eight of a family.

Tuesday 13 January 2015 SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT Communities Jackie Baillie (Dumbarton) (Scottish Labour): To ask the Scottish Government how it will use its proposed new power regarding funeral payment benefit to help support people who experience difficulties in meeting funeral costs. (S4W-23698) Margaret Burgess: Under the Smith Commission’s proposals, the Scottish Government would have full autonomy to deliver assistance with funeral costs to help those in need. We plan to consult widely with stakeholders and service users in the coming months on how we can use these proposed new powers to best effect, building on the appetite for engagement and dialogue amongst civic Scotland. Anne McTaggart (Glasgow) (Scottish Labour): To ask the Scottish Government what further work it is undertaking on its discussion paper on financial capability, Achieving Better Co-ordination in Scotland, published in July 2010. (S4W-23701) Margaret Burgess: As described in the answer to S4W-23603 on 6 January 2015, the Scottish Government’s approach to financial capability is set out in the revised Child Poverty Strategy for Scotland published in March 2014. This recognises the importance of having access to appropriate financial services, information and advice and that financial capability can make a significant difference to the lives of the people of Scotland. Achieving Better Co-ordination in Scotland focussed on a number of key areas, including genuine partnership working – which we have demonstrated through tri-partite working with the Scottish Legal Aid Board and the Money Advice Service to fund collaborative projects, most recently through the Tackling Money Worries funding announced in October 2014.
