GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES

Our school, which provides contemporary graduate in accordance with the needs of time and society, has been carrying out this purpose since 2001, when it was established in harmony with the vision of our university. The school is a higher education institution that trains expert educators in the field of educational sciences, and is engaged in education - teaching, scientific research, publishing and application activities. Yeditepe University Graduate School of Educational Sciences carries out its educational activities with 13 different graduate programs including thesis or non-thesis master and doctorate programs. Our school has 556 registered students, including 57 doctoral and 499 masters’ students. Up to now, 15 doctoral degrees and 488 master degrees have been awarded. Our graduates serve in outstanding institutions. In all our graduate programs, we analyze educational issues in different dimensions and propose solutions to problems related to them in the national and universal scientific community. With our graduate programs, we train qualified teachers, experts and scientists in their fields. We aim our graduates to become visionary leaders, who are open, responsible, participative and productive experts with 1 good and strategic management skills. In the light of our corporate professional common values, we adapt our research and application studies conducted by our distinguished academic staff to educational environments and life using real-time modelling. Our school aims to reach the level of an institution that leads interdisciplinary studies by developing inter-university cooperation with nationally- internationally accepted programs. Our Differences

Among foundation universities, only Yeditepe University has a Graduate School of Educational Sciences. Many attributes such as educational quality, technical infrastructure, administrative-social networks, contemporary sharing of informatics and adoption of global values affect the preferability of our graduates positively. Examples of these features include:

1. The Master’s Program in Information Technologies and Social Media Education, which is also given at prestigious universities such as University of California- Berkeley, Stanford University, Columbia University and Harvard University, does not exist at any other universities in our country apart from Yeditepe University. This program trains specialists who have special qualifications in the field of education- 2 informatics.

2. All graduates of the English Language Teaching Ph.D. Program are serving as academic members at respectable universities in our country. Our Ph.D. program students receive new business proposals and connections while they are in their writing their dissertations.

3. Most of our graduates from the Thesis/Non-thesis Master’s Program in Education Management and Supervision work in administrative-management positions like manager / assistant manager in institutions and organizations affiliated to the Ministry of National Education.

4. The vast majority of graduates from programs like Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Economics and Planning, work in areas such as education and consultancy in distinguished institutions and organizations.

5. In general, it is reported by external stakeholders that our graduates are very successful in interdisciplinary collaborations, are sought-after individuals in all public or private sectors, and that those who want to pursue an academic career can easily advance in their fields. Technical Infrastructure-Laboratory Facilities

Human-Computer Interaction Lab: In the Human-Computer Interaction laboratory with the Tobii X3 series eye movement monitoring device, our students have the opportunity to collect data for their own research. Our students who take the theoretical and speculative courses are able to collect, analyze and publish data on a wide range of research, especially for the observation of cognitive processes such as usability, instructional design, problem solving, and attention-perception. Arduino Kits: Our School closely follows the current educational world, where STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education and Coding Education is highly important. For this purpose, we aim to continuously improve the educational features of our students with 26 Arduino kits and other kits including various sensors. Our students also have the opportunity to design and implement STEM training and coding in a fun and instructive rich environment by 3 combining them with gamification methods. Smart Classroom: Our school embodies a smart classroom with a Smart Interactive Board and Smart Notebook software that is used in the courses. Interaction support provided by the related software aims to maximize efficiency in courses. In addition, our institute students, many of whom are teachers, have the opportunity to develop lesson designs that emphasize individual features in the teaching profession by following new technologies. Laboratory: In our Computer Laboratory that is used by the institution, there are 28 computers, 109 screen LCD TV, interactive board and projection equipment. Apart from the applications in technology-based courses, our students are offered the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired with statistics programs. Graduate Programs

There are 13 different graduate programs in six main departments at our school. The Thesis Master's programs are taught in English and consist of at least seven courses (21 credits), a seminar and a thesis study. Our Non-thesis Master's programs consist of at least 10 courses (30 credits) and a term project course. The non-thesis programs cover the in-service training needs of teachers and the teaching language of some is in Turkish. In particular, these programs are designed to include lessons on topics that will enhance the professional practice of teachers, such as active learning, teaching styles, and new approaches to classroom management. In order to study at the PhD programs in English, it is necessary to finish the Thesis Master's Programs. The PhD programs consist of thesis studies, and the thesis supervision committee reports after the comprehensive examination. In these programs, the aim is to produce original doctoral theses, which can be applied to new fields. Our lecture programs cover subjects such as Research Methods and Techniques, 7 Statistics, Scientific Publication and Ethics. The elective courses in each of our programs can be taken at our school or from another program at our university.

It is an interdisciplinary program covering areas such as Computers, Sociology, Education and Communication. It provides education and training on the basis of the new dynamics of the digitalizing world and provides graduate careers and expertise in production-oriented evaluation and adaptation of social media to educational environments. The aim of the program is to train specialist education technologists, scientists and field researchers who have the necessary technical equipment and training skills to use information and education technology services available in education, computer technology and social-digital media fields effectively and efficiently.

A contemporary teaching approach requires that the teacher develops teaching programs (with skills like critical thinking, learning strategies, etc.) parallel to the teaching curriculum and applies them by integrating them with the curriculum. Today's curricula provide general criteria for teachers' classroom practices. For this reason, teachers need to have deeper skills in understanding and adapting programs to their classes. Teachers need to be trained in curriculum development as well as increasing their proficiency in teaching. In this context, this program is intended to provide a rich content of course management systems from classroom management to implementation, measurement and evaluation of contemporary teaching method techniques that teachers would prefer for their educational 11 needs, as well as basic courses to help them develop their own programs.

The main aim of the Master’s Program in Education Management and Supervision is to present current knowledge and skills and modern practices that education specialists in the educational units of institutions and the administrators and teachers in the education system of our institutions need and to present the necessary guidance services on how to benefit from them while performing their duties. The main aspects of the programs are defined as the Turkish education system and teacher training regimes, basic managerial skills, professional development and school improvement methods, training programs in the EU process, program and teacher evaluation techniques, and faculty and school accreditation processes. The Non-thesis Master's program is a very useful program for those who aim to become managers or advisors in secondary education institutions, private 12 and public education institutions or other institutions and organizations, human resources, lifelong education and similar fields.

Our Master’s programs aim to improve the quality of English language teaching in our country by providing support for professional development of experienced English teachers. During the program, candidates work on theoretical issues in language teaching and their applications in the classroom environment. Candidates also gain the knowledge and skills to help them specialize in subjects such as English Language Education, teacher education, assessment and evaluation of language teaching, material development and teaching English to young learners. The aim of the PhD Program is to specialize candidates in the field of foreign language teacher education and acquire research skills to contribute to this field. In the program 14 theory and practice are presented in a balanced way. Graduates of the program can contribute to pre-service and in-service teacher training programs, or they can work as lecturers in related departments of universities.

The aim of the program is to provide candidates with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes and specialization in psychological counseling and guidance so that they can perform psychological counseling services offered in educational, health and industrial institutions and organizations effectively and efficiently. Thus, we aim to train qualified psychological counselors who have mastered the concepts, principles and techniques of contemporary psychological counseling science and who will be able to effectively manage the guidance and psychological counseling services of different kinds of institutions and organizations, including the psychological counseling and guidance activities required in educational institutions. Graduates who have completed the Thesis Program can apply to 16 doctorate programs and can work as academicians at universities.
