Many attributes such as educational quality, technical infrastructure, administrative-social networks, contemporary sharing of informatics and adoption of global values affect the preferability of our graduates positively. Examples of these features include: 1. The Master’s Program in Information Technologies and Social Media Education, which is also given at prestigious universities such as University of California- Berkeley, Stanford University, Columbia University and Harvard University, does not exist at any other universities in our country apart from Yeditepe University. This program trains specialists who have special qualifications in the field of education- 2 informatics. 2. All graduates of the English Language Teaching Ph.D. Program are serving as academic members at respectable universities in our country. Our Ph.D. program students receive new business proposals and connections while they are in their writing their dissertations. 3. In general, it is reported by external stakeholders that our graduates are very successful in interdisciplinary collaborations, are sought-after individuals in all public or private sectors, and that those who want to pursue an academic career can easily advance in their fields. Graduate School Of Educational Sciences Technical Infrastructure-Laboratory Facilities Human-Computer Interaction Lab: In the Human-Computer Interaction laboratory with the Tobii X3 series eye movement monitoring device, our students have the opportunity to collect data for their own research. Our students who take the theoretical and speculative courses are able to collect, analyze and publish data on a wide range of research, especially for the observation of cognitive processes such as usability, instructional design, problem solving, and attention-perception. Arduino Kits: Our School closely follows the current educational world, where STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Education and Coding Education is highly important. For this purpose, we aim to continuously improve the educational features of our students with 26 Arduino kits and other kits including various sensors. Our students also have the opportunity to design and implement STEM training and coding in a fun and instructive rich environment by 3 combining them with gamification methods. Smart Classroom: Our school embodies a smart classroom with a Smart Interactive Board and Smart Notebook software that is used in the courses. Interaction support provided by the related software aims to maximize efficiency in courses. In addition, our institute students, many of whom are teachers, have the opportunity to develop lesson designs that emphasize individual features in the teaching profession by following new technologies. Laboratory: In our Computer Laboratory that is used by the institution, there are 28 computers, 109 screen LCD TV, interactive board and projection equipment. Apart from the applications in technology-based courses, our students are offered the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired with statistics programs. In addition to these, we have the necessary equipment and material for our courses such as Computer Hardware, Computer Networks and Communication, and Data Base Management. Information Literacy in Legal Education: The Case of Istanbul Bilgi University Sami Çukadar Istanbul Bilgi University, Istanbul, Turkey. [email protected] Kerem Kahvecioğlu Istanbul Bilgi University, Istanbul, Turkey. [email protected] Abstract: The main purpose of the law is to seek justice by solving both individual and social conflicts in society and thereby achieve peace, equality and freedom. In order to achieve this goal, the rules of law should be understood in order to be implemented and interpreted correctly. Due to the rapid changes and increase in technology and information, the concept of information literacy is becoming more crucial in every field including legal education. The aim of this paper is to examine briefly the legal information skills and legal information literacy implementations worldwide and in Turkey, and to give information about the appropriate information literacy standards for undergraduate legal education. Information literacy practices at Istanbul Bilgi University Law Faculty are specifically mentioned. Keywords: Legal information literacy, law librarianship, legal research, Istanbul Bilgi University Introduction The Internet, and developments in information technologies, is one of the greatest changes in the information arena since the invention of the printing press. Change in information media has taken place in parallel to these developments with the amount and types of information resources increasing like an avalanche. In our time, when globalization is unavoidable, knowing where and how to locate and access needed information is more important than trying to obtain all the information related to our subject. Efforts to share all kinds of information, often from unknown sources and of doubtful integrity, have resulted in difficulty in locating accurate information on the Internet in our digital world.

  • General Brochure Yeditepe University.Pdf
1 Yeditepe University 2 Message from our Founder and Honorary President The leader and originator of the ISTEK family that has respect, love and devotion in its roots is Atatürk. His children are walking in his footsteps, therefore they show characteristics which he expects and has determined for the Turkish nation. Atatürk means wisdom. Of the most important revolutions that reflect his productivity and character which is beyond generations is his revolution in the area of education. Education is a serious and divine business. Just as the great leader Atatürk said, it is essential to raise generations who are intellectually, spiritually and culturally free. We have founded the ISTEK foundation and Yeditepe University for this reason. A good future can be shaped by a youth who makes the right choices by knowing themselves. One of the most critical decisions in this process is choosing the right profession and university. The world is changing. New ideas emerge every day. A new idea has to be created all the time. If this does not happen, it means that humanity is not moving forward. After agricultural and 3 industrial revolutions, our world is experiencing a new age called “the information age”. The concept of globalism has lifted borders, merged all markets and has lifted local competition to universal levels. In a world where there is too much and widespread information, there are two main principles for individuals, institutions and nations to stay alive: to obtain information and to share this information efficiently by using information technologies. For communication to take place efficiently, it has become obligatory to know at least a foreign language very well, preferably English.

ERBIL CAN ARTUN RESEARCH The general perspective of my research is to develop an understanding of the complexity of Nature, both physically and metaphysically. My current research in theoretical statistical mechanics focuses on complex spin systems with quenched disorder and frustrated interactions. I use the renormalization-group theory as a main mathematical tool in my research. In metaphysics (as ontology), my research currently focuses on the problem of border and the principle of individuation. | ORCID ID: 0000-0002-9624-3124 EDUCATION PHD, COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCES — KADIR HAS UNIVERSITY, ISTANBUL (PRESENT) Advisor: Prof. A.
