Bevezetés Elérkezett a televíziózás vége – prognosztizálták néhány éve is. A tévé mégis egyre több formában van jelen. A kombináció alkalmas műsornézésre, interaktivitásra, filmnézésre, rögzítésre/tárolásra, kapcsolattartásra, helymeghatározásra, szórakozásra, tanulásra és bútordarab is. Ma a világ, a társadalmi közeg, a televíziós szakma és a technológia mind hatással vannak erre a változásra, a televíziózás hagyományaira. A televíziózás megváltozott - ahogy az új kommunikációs eszközök révén átalakult minden, ami a tévézést befolyásolja. Megjósolhatatlan, hova vezet a technológiai fejlődés, hogy alakul a televíziózás szerepe és hatása, de az ma már jól látszik, tévedtek, akik a vesztét jósolták. És még ennél is tovább mehetünk. Egy rövid időre szeretnénk kilépni a távolságtartó kutató szerepünkből, személyesebb hangra váltunk, talán egy disszertáció hangvételétől szokatlan módon. Ahhoz, hogy kutatás hátterében rejlő motivációt megértsük, látni kell a kiváltó okokat és a folyamatot, amely egy éveken át tartó kutatást befolyásol és egyik napról a másikra akár új fókuszba helyez. A motiváció megértése hozzájárul ahhoz, hogy megértsük, miért ilyen tág egy disszertáció témaválasztása. 2013 augusztusában, az Oscar-díjas Kevin Spacey az Edinburghi Nemzetközi Televíziós Fesztivál megnyitóján azt mondta, a televíziózás új aranykora következhet, a felelősség a kezünkben van, a lehetősége megvan, minden jel arra mutat. Ekkor már négy éve gyűjtöttem és dolgoztam fel az anyagokat, amelyek a televíziózás jövőjével, a jövő televíziózásával kapcsolatosak, és bár tisztán láttam, hogy mik a trendek, ilyen kijelentést nem jutott volna eszembe tenni. Kevin Spacey állítása azonban új megvilágításba helyezte a munkát és azt a bizonyítási vágyat hívta életre, hogy a lehető legtöbb nézőpontból körbejárva, érveket találjunk a kijelentés megalapozottságára. Bárki kérdezte az elmúlt időszakban, mi a kutatási témám, mindig elmeséltem, a televíziózás jövője. Kivétel nélkül mindenki legyintett, nincs is jövője, miről írok mégis. Aztán sorolni kezdtem az érvéket, és a hallgatóság csodálkozott, eddig lehet, hogy valamit félreértett. Nem csodálkoztam, hiszen 2010 végén még magam is így 3 A televízió új aranykora? gondolkodtam ezt. A viszonyulásom, ha nem is volt általánosítható, egyre elterjedtebb attitűdöt képviselt. 2001-ben végeztem a Színház- és Filmművészeti Egyetem televízió rendező, műsorvezető szakán, és még további tíz évet, összesen tizennégy évet töltöttem a televíziós pályán, végigjárva a televíziós műsorkészítés minden fázisát a riporterségtől a főszerkesztőségen át a műsorvezetésig és a producerségig, show-műsorok, oknyomozóműsorok magazinműsorok világában, a nem-fikciósnak nevezett televíziós térben. Aztán 2010 végén úgy döntöttem, nincs tovább perspektíva számomra a tévézésben, feladtam, kiábrándultam, kiszálltam. Éppen akkor, amikor a kutatás vonatkozásában értelmet kellett volna adnom a jelenkori televíziózásnak, nem láttam tisztán mindez hova vezet.
