Last Week’s Match report.... Club view .... 3-2 CAISTER Caister travelled to Cabbell Park, Cromer with the strongest squad they have had this season whilst an improved Cromer named new signings from Spixsworth to bolster their side. Reserves: Caister included Chad Pillar in their starting line up and reverted to a more solid looking 4-4-2 formation. The early exchanges looked promising as Caister took the game to their hosts and 3 Great away wins has seen the Ressies make a remarkable start to life in the good crosses from the Caister right from Long and Barrett on both occasions found Pillar, his next division up. The last run out against Marlingford was a battling headers were cleared off the line and then saved by the experience Cromer keeper. As has performance against a side that tried to intimidate the young Ressies. Today we been the way in the early part of the season Caisters good play was not rewarded and on 10 take on Blofield Reserves away. Good Luck lads keep the 100% start going! minutes Caister were exposed down their left side as a runner was not tracked. This allowed their lively striker to volley inside the six yard box from a cross to give Cromer the lead. Caister then began to panic as they found themselves behind again. Mix ups and nervous defending ensued for the next 10 minutes as Cromer threatened to extend their lead. On one occasion Hembling came racing off his line, the striker beat him to the ball but an instinctive last gasp tackle from Taylor saved Caister’s blushes just as the striker was bearing down on a gaping goal mouth. Eventually Caister managed to calm their nerves and play their way back into the game. A period of persistent pressure forced a penalty as a Cromer player handled inside the box. Jamie Long stepped up to convert the kick comfortably to deservedly level the scores at half time. Caister regrouped and seemingly, for 2 minutes at least came out in a buoyant mood. Heller worked well with Garrett Ward and Chad Pillar and crafted a golden chance on 46 minutes to give Caister the lead his effort however went over the bar from 12 yards out. From the resulting goal kick the ball dropped to Heller in midfield but his misplaced pass back towards the right back area was easily intercepted leaving the Cromer forward Patel to race through and produce a fine, instinctive strikers finish across Hembling to the obvious annoyance of the Caister bench. The Caister players needed to pick themselves up and given the previous two performances and the growing frustration of not getting points from games we are competing in this reaction didn’t look likely. However the players spurred on by the ever industrious and vocal Huggins-Bowers again raised their game and came back strong at the workmanlike Crabs. Changes in midfield gave Caister a little more energy and chances started to be created. Chad Pillar hit a first time shot from a low cross, his first effort was saved but Chad reacted quickest to poke home the equaliser. Caister knew this was deserved and pushed on for the 3 points. Some poor decisions in the penalty box when players were well placed or others were even better placed meant that chances were squandered as Caister turned the screw. Joe Bryanton hit a curling volley that went just over having beaten the keeper then Pillar had an effort scrap the post with a shot he met on the run. With the clock nd running down Caister just couldn’t find the winner their 2 half possession had deserved. The Sunday side’s have both started. Last weekend Sunday’s got a good 3-3 draw Caister’s luck was about to get worse however, in the 92 minute a freekick in the corner of against Litchfield at home. Meanwhile The Veterans recorded an Awesome 7-0 start the Caister penalty box was punched clear by Hembling the ball however was returned against Cromer Crabs. Today the A team kick off against Belton. Their preparation has straight into the box, with the Caister players still adjusting from the first clearance an been good in friendlies so let’s hope they get off to a flyer on the West pitch. unmarked striker headed a last gasp winner sparking wild celebrations just before the referees whistle sounded. Caister: Hembling, Barrett, Blake, Huggins-Bowers, Taylor, Turner, A.Ward (Robson), Pillar (1), G.Ward, Heller Good Luck to all the Caister FC sides! (Bryanton), Long (1),

BRIEF HISTORY OF CAISTER FOOTBALL CLUB

Est: 1908 - Nickname: The Lifeboatmen - Motto: Caister Men Never Turn Back - Ground: St. George V Playing Field, Allendale Road, Caister On Sea

When the club was formed in 1908 at a meeting in the old school hall the first Nick Name of the football club was the Rabbits as the old pitch was on a rabbit warren on Caister Beach near the site of the Never turn Back Pub. The Nickname now is the ‘Lifeboatemen’ after Caister’s most famous service and motto ‘Caister Men never Turn Back’. The moto is more commonly seen these days on Twitter and seen as #CMNTB.Caister were one of the founder members of the Great Yarmouth and District League and for 60 Years were one of the most competitive and successful teams in Norfolk, Competiting in the Great Yarmouth League and Norfolk Primary cup including Winning The Wiltshire Cup on many occasions. In the mid 60’s Caister joined the Anglian Combination as the club expanded along with a Village which was growing into the size of a Town. The first team moved up the leagues to the 2nd Division where they stayed for 20 years and still classed as a Junior Side.Throughout the 90’s Caister had 5 adult sides including a 1st team, reserves, A Team, B Team on Saturdays and a Sunday side. Due to the decline in demand at local football level the amount of teams changed but we have always had at least 3 adult sides. In 2006-07 Caister FC won the Norfolk Junior Cup with a dramatic 1-0 win over Mattishall Reserves at Carrow Road this was the first major trophy in our History. In the 2007-08 season we finished as runners up of the league cup (Cyril Ballan Trophy) at Wroxham FC losing out 0-1 to Corton FC. This was the start of the recent history and success as in 2008-2009 Caister first team earned promotion to Senior Football and the Anglian Combination Division 1 for the first time in the clubs 100 year history under the Management of Paul Brooking. Caister finished 4th but gained promotion due to senior sides above them moving into the Eastern Counties Reserve League. Caister Reserves have recently gained a historic hatrick of promotions. From 2004 Caister rose from division 6 to division 3 when the Anglian Combination was made into 1 league rather than having a Reserve section. Today our Anglian Combination sides reside in the Premier & 3rd Divisions 1 after a historic double promotion in 2012-13. Our other adult sides the ‘A’ team and Sunday play in the GYDFL and provide a wide spectrum of opportunities to local footballers whilst our vets are in the Norfolk & Vets League Div 1 North. Throughout our history we have spent periods combined with the Youth section during which the club achieved FA Community status, during this time we were known as Caister United. To aid logistics it was thought the clubs would run better separated again recently and the Youth section is now known as Caister Roma.Caister currently have a driven 12 man committee who work on sponsorship opportunities, fundraising, event co-ordination along with the day to day running of the important finances. Currently with 5 adult sides the clubs position on and off the pitch is stronger than ever in its 106 year history.A full collage of Caister Football Club Photos, old news stories and memories is on display in the ‘tunnel’ at Allendale Road. Please feel free to have a read and some of the comical stories I’d advise reading ‘Supporter is Knocked Out’ – great read.

LAST TIME WE MET Manager’s Message Adam Mason & David Thompson

Sat 22 Jan 2011 “We need to get over it straight away today as there is no (Anglian Combination.... Division 1) time to feel sorry for ourselves. No teams in this league

Starting Line-up will lay down and let you tickle their bellies..”

Today we welcome the players, management and support of Town to Wymondham Town 5-0 Caister 1 Lee Gillary Allendale Road along with our three match officials led by Referee Mark Ames for this Anglian Combination Premier Division fixture. Caister travelled to Wymondham for what they knew 2 Michael Gislam would be a very difficult fixture against a high flying Well to start with its nice to be back here on a Saturday after 3 Fridays and a Tuesday 3 Adam Bartram Norfolk team. fixture, let’s hope our fortunes change today after a difficult start of midweek fixtures. The start of the season has been very difficult to stomach and it’s not nice having to say to 4 Mark Blake Wymondham were out of the blocks quicker, dominating people that “we lost but played well” because it often sounds like an excuse. However so many people are saying to us that we have been unlucky so far. Friday night was play in all parts of the pitch and were 3 -0 up in no time. 5 Owen Newman particularly hard to take especially getting crowed out by the whole Cromer squad and Caister were shell shocked, however, they steadied the management on the touch line when they grabbed their 92 minute winner!! We need to ship and Kieron Hack nearly pulled a ball back when his 6 Adam Flaxman get over it straight away today as there is no time to feel sorry for ourselves. No teams in lob over the keeper his the cross bar. There were then a this league will lay down and let you tickle their bellies we are going to have to earn the few chances at both ends, however Wymondham were 7 Gary Fitzgerald right to win points in this division. That is the real major difference we are seeing. All of the clearly the stronger side. sides are very competitive, work hard, get in your face and don’t give you a second on the ball, we need to take on some of that ethic to succeed and it is certainly the message 8 Kieron Hack st In the second half the game was more even with chances coming from our dressing room. Attitude and desire to all of the sides come as a 1 instinct, unfortunately we have the talent but we just need to tune some personalities into as both ends and Caisters passing game coming into 9 Dan Bartram things more. However, as Caister tired, Wymondham concentrating and competing for 90 minutes we need that to give our match winners to do just that weather it is in the 1st or 97th minute of the game. 10 Anton Ward scored 2 goals towards the end. Wymondham are by far We will be looking to enjoy the game today and record not only a good performance for the strongest team that Caister have played this season 50-60 minutes but a consistant display which will hopefully give us a chance. Wymondham 11 Garrett Ward and will no doubt get promoted to the Premier division. come here off the back of an impressive 3-2 win against Norwich CEYMS which we know The match was well refereed by Richard Goslin. even last season was not easy so all of the above must apply if we have any ambition to get our 1st win in this league. Although Caister were disappointed to lose they were Substitutes outclassed as a team, however there were good individual There will be some changes today as we look to get the right mix so again please bear with us, the players are asked every week to stay paitient and stick together therefore we’d display from Adam Bartram, Mark Blake and man of the 12 Carlo Adjemian match Lee Gillary who pulled off a number of good saves appreciate it if you done the same and encourage them to keep going hopefully they will to keep the score respectable. respond accordingly. Tom Rowley will make a welcome and timely return as Lee Turner 13 Ben Ford starts a 3 game ban.

14 Richard Stokes Please join us after the game for a drink and hot food with our main sponsors Caister Community Centre, all visiting players, supporters and officials are welcome, hope to see you there. Enjoy the Game, Mace & Tomo.
