    INTERIM REPORT (SIX MONTHS) 30 JUNE 2008 INTERIM REPORT TO OUR STOCKHOLDERS The Directors are pleased to present the unaudited results of the Group for the quarter ended June 30, 2008. The Group achieved Revenues for the period of $27,329.9 million (2007: $22,939.9 million), an increase of $4,390 million or 19.1%. The Net Profit Attributable to Equity holders of the Company increased by $55 million over the corresponding period of 2007, moving from $1,106.9 million to $1,161.9 million, an increase of 5.0%. This represents earnings per stock unit of $3.54 (2007: $3.40). GK Foods had a challenging quarter because of rapidly escalating fuel and food prices. Although revenues for the quarter grew by 18%, pretax profit fell below the corresponding period last year. Our expansion efforts outside of Jamaica saw us launching our line of porridges in the U.S. market. Grace Tropical Rhythms Refresher and Grace Snacks were launched in the UK. The new Grace Tropical Rhythms Refresher watermelon and cucumber flavours are made from locally grown fruits. During the quarter, we launched a backyard gardening project to encourage our staff members to grow some of what they eat as a response to changing world conditions. Approximately nine hundred members of staff have expressed interest and they are receiving guidance from the Agro-Grace division. Our sponsorship of the Jamaica Cultural Development Corporation Gospel Festival under our Grace Tropical Rhythms brand was deemed a big success, and we are happy with our continued association with the festival which showcases the wealth of talent in our country.

Since the late 1980s, Korean pop music has aspired to be a more advanced industry and establish an international presence, based on the economic leap and democratization as a springboard. Contemporary K-pop, originating from the underground dance scene in the 1980s, succeeded in transforming Korean pop music into a modern and youth-oriented genre with a new style dubbed "rap/dance music." The rise of dance music changed the landscape of Korean popular music and became the cornerstone of the K-pop idol music. In the era of globalization, K-pop’s unique aesthetics and strategy, later termed “Cultural Technology,” achieved substantial returns in the international market. Throughout this evolution, Korean Americans were vital players who brought K-pop closer to its mission of modern and international pop music. In the age of globalization, K-pop's modernity and identity are evolving in a new way.

Therefore the objective of this study was to explore the current extent of adoption of online transaction platforms in the retail industry in Zimbabwe. Furthermore, this paper purposed to determine the extent of this adoption on the Technology Adoption Curve. The online transaction platforms studied were Internet banking, Automated Teller Machines, Mobile banking, Point of Sale and Mobile money. The study took a mixed method approach where both qualitative and quantitative strategies were used. A three-sample dataset comprising of 268 bank and supermarket customers, 56 bank managers and 31 supermarket managers was used.

Over the past decade, the number of RPF works written about K-pop idols has steadily increased, but RPF remains a controversial practice even within fanfiction communities. The purpose of this thesis is to understand the influence of fictional media practices such as fanfiction in the construction of the celebrity text. This thesis compares three practices found in K-pop RPF to three practices found in the K-pop industry in order to argue that K-pop fanfiction writers and the K-pop industry perform similar practices in pursuit of broader fan desires. Ultimately, the K-pop idol embodies a new model of celebrity that consciously moves between the “public” and the “private” in order to generate affective value. This movement is grounded in images of the idol’s physical body and given meaning through the idol group’s network of interpersonal relationships.
