The Rochester Sentinel 2004 Friday, January 2, 2004 L. G. Alber March 17, 1907 - Dec. 31, 2003 L.G. ALBER, 96, Hickory Creek of Rochester, and formerly of 1729 Wabash Ave., Rochesrter, died at 4:54 p.m Wednesday at Hickory Creek. His health had been failing for two weeks. Born to Ebbert H. and Mary E. “Molly” Conrad Alber in Richland Township near Rochester, he lived in Fulton County his entire life. On Oct. 21, 1933, he married Helen M. Clark in Mentone. She preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 1987 He was a member of Talma United Methodist church and a charter member of Talma Lions Club. He retired from farming. He was a very talented whistler. He was the last of a family of nine chidren. Survivors include one daughter-in-aw, Phyllis Alber, Rochester; three grandchildren, Connie and husband Roy Burkhart Amboy, Thomas Alber and wife Sandy, Woodburn, Randy Alber and wife Theresa, Claypool, and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Helen, and one son, Sidney “Sid” Alber on April 22, 1995. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Omer L. Guyer May 1, 1916 - Dec. 30, 2003 Omer L. GUYER, 87, Denver passed away at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru. Born to Roy and Ida Opple Guyer at the Guyer homestead near Denver, he married Evelyn Jones of LaFontaine on Apri 19, 1940. She preceded him in death on Dec. 24, 1999. He was owner and operator of a farm in Denver. He was a former employee of International Harvester, Peru; McMahan Construction Co., Rochester, and Delco Electronics, Kokomo, from which he retired in December 1983. He was a member of Boundary Line church of Christ, LaFontaine. Survivors include one sister, Esther L. Turnipseed, Millers Merry Manor, Peru; one daughter, Colleen and husband Howard Whittlesey, Denver; four sons, Jay Guyer and wife Patty, Florence, Ky., Jaun Guyer and wife Beverly, Brazil, Dan Guyer and wife Tanja, Tampa, Fla., Dawson Guyer and wife Renee, Brownsburg; 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchidren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Earl, one son, Carson, and one daughter, Anita M. Lord. Services will be at 11 a.m Saturday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with Sam Miller and Mike Willis officiating. He was a member of Talma United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Talma Lions Club. He won awards and was known for his talent for whistling. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Alber, Rochester; three grandchildren, Connie and husband Roy Burkhart, Amboy, Thomas Alber and wife Sandy, Woodburn, Randy Alber and wife Theresa, Claypool; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Murphy, Chula Vista, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Helen and Margurite, and one son, Sidney “Sid” Alber on April 22, 1995. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. William Kaiser officiating. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery. Virgil St., Akron, died at 11:13 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. Arrangements are pending at Foster & Good Funeral Home, Akron. Lester A. Feece Lester A. Feece, 83, Plymouth, and formerly of Argos, died at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Hospice House, South Bend. Arrangements are pending at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester. Lester C. Kindig Feb. 8, 1908–Jan. 3, 2004 Lester C. KINDIG, 95, 7833 W. Indiana 25, Mentone, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at his home. Born in Fulton County to Estil and Bessie Clemans Kindig, he married Reathel B. Herrell in Fulton County on March 4, 1933. She preceded him in death on April 1, 1997. He was a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Modern Woodman. Survivors include two daughters, Wilma Prater, Etna Green, Bonnie and husband Harold Hile, Mentone; two sons, Dale Kindig and wife Ellen, Warsaw, Ronnie Kindig, Warsaw; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Parentha Johnson, Rochester. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters, Fay Olson, Bernice Fenstermacher; and one brother, F. Leon Kindig. A private family graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Athens Cemetery with Rev. Don Poyser officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today and 1-2 p.m. Tuesday at King Memorial Home, Mentone. Bonnie Neace Bonnie NEACE, 64, 13784 6A Road, Plymouth, died Friday at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. Survivors include her husband, Olen Neace, at home; two daughters, Jeanne Randall, at home, Bernadine Goens, South Bend; two sisters, Unice Stidham, Monterey, Laura Collette, Pierceton; and one brother, William Fields, Seymour, Tenn. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grossman Funeral Home, Argos. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. Kenneth E. Romine Sept. 16, 1924 – Jan. 5, 2004 Kenneth E. ROMINE, 79, 710 W. Main St., Mentone, died at 3 a.m. today at his home. Born in Mentone to F. Monroe “Dutch” and Maude F. Hissong Romine, he was a lifetime resident of the Mentone area. He married Mary Esther Smith in Brimfield on Nov. 30, 1944. She survives. They recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. He was a dedicated postmaster in Mentone for 38 years. He retired in 1987. He was a World War II veteran and European campaign Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the Mentone United Methodist Church, National League of Postmasters, Indiana Postmasters Association and the Bell Memorial Library Board. He was a 50 year member of the Mentone Lions Club, American Legion Post No. 49 and the Mentone Masonic Lodge. He was a former member of the Mentone Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Mary Esther Romine, Mentone; two sons, Ken Romine and wife Sharon, Northville, Mich., John Romine, Carmel; four grandchildren, Julie Stedman, Newark, Ohio, Benjamin Romine, Farmington Hills, Mich., Grant Romine, Noblesville, Clark Romine, Carmel; two great-grandchildren, Peter and Isaac Stedman; one sister, Janet and husband Tom Smith, Warsaw; and one brother Gerald Romine and wife Elvira, Mentone. He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Romine, on Feb. 15, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Rev. Doris Smith officiating. Burial will be at Mentone Cemetery. American Legion Post, Warsaw, will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Wilbert R. Utter Jan. 4, 1910 – Jan. 4, 2004 Wilbert R. UTTER, 94, Life Care Center, Rochester, and formerly of Athens, died at 7:35 a.m. Sunday at Life Care Center. Born in Fulton County to Harley R. and Gertrude Johnson Utter, he married LaVera M. Walters in Rochester on Sept. 3, 1933. She survives. He was a retired farmer and member of Talma United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, LaVera M. Utter, Rochester; two daughters, Sue Curtis, Warsaw, Luanne and husband Jim May, Warsaw; two sons, Richard Utter and wife Lois, Mentone, Ron Utter, Rochester; one sister Josephine Sanders, Rochester; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James R. Utter, in the Vietnam War, one great-grandson, one stepgrandson and four brothers. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Rev. William Kaiser officiating. Burial will be at Akron Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Esther Hohlt Sohl July 6, 1913–Jan. 3, 2004 Esther Hohlt SOHL, 90, 1725 Colonial Drive, Rochester, died at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at her home following an illness. Born in Indianapolis to Harry and Rosina Lawall Hohlt, she lived in the Rochester community for the past 34 years after coming here from Noblesville. She married Charles Sohl in Indianapolis on July 6, 1936. He preceded her in death on Jan.
