EVENTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS Shri.Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble MR inaugurated one lift each on Platform 2/3 and 2nd entry at Kannur Railway station through video conferencing from Goa on 19.08.2017. Shri.Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon’ble MR laid foundation stone for Foot Over Bridge at Mangaluru Central Railway station connecting all platforms and doubling of Netravathi- Mangaluru Central, through video conferencing from Goa on 18.08.2017. Shri. P. Karunakaran, Hon’ble MP, inaugurated Foot over Bridges at Bekal Fort and subway in lieu of LC no. 263 at Trikkarippur on 27.5.17. On the same day he also laid the foundation stone for extension of Foot Over Bridge at Charvattur. Shri. P. Karunakaran, Hon’ble MP, Kasaragod inaugurated the newly constructed Foot over Bridge (FOB) at Ullal on 07.11.2017. He also convened a meeting with Railway officers at Kasaragod, to review the development works at stations over his constituency. Shri. P.Karunakaran, Hon’ble MP laid the foundation stone for LUS between Charvattur - Nilambur, Kalanad – Kasaragod and Ullal – Manjeshwar on 4.3.17. 46 units of New Type II Qrs. Have been constructed at MAQ. Re roofing of 174 units of tiled roof Qrs. (Type II-162, Type III -12) has been completed. Flooring of 212 units of Qrs have been Upgraded. Leak proofing of 88 units of RCC roof of Qrs. (Type I - 41, Type II - 47) have been attended. Toilet improvements have been made in 222 units of Qrs. Kitchen improvements have been made in 240 units of Qrs. Perished wooden doors of 302 units of Qrs. Have been replaced. Provision of steel sinks in kitchen - 286 units of Qrs. Shri.Mullapally Ramachandran, Hon’ble MP, Vadakara inaugurated the VIP Lounge and Booking office at second entry at Thalassery on 28.02.17 during the General Manager’s Annual Inspection. SmtP.K.Sreemathy Teacher, Hon’ble MP, Kannur inaugurated the newly constructed Retiring Rooms at Kannur on 28.2.17, also during the General Manager’s Annual Inspection. General Manager, Southern Railway inaugurated the new IP based Telephone Exchange at Kannur opened on 28.02.17. Commissioner of Railway safety, Bangalore, visited Palakkad Division and inspected the Railway Electrification works in Charvattur- Mangalore section on 11.03.2017prior to introduction of 25 KV AC Traction for passenger service. He issued necessary authorization. Commissioner of Railway safety, Bangalore Inspected Pollachi station and conducted Motor trolley Inspection between Pollachi and Kinathukadavu section on 23.03.2017. He also conducted speed trial from Podanur to Pollachi, the newly gauge converted section, on 24.03.2017. The section was opened for traffic subsequently. Two numbers of 10 KWP solar PV system (grid connected) one each at Railway Hospital, Palakkad and Divisional office/Palakkad were commissioned during March, 17. Approximately 47 units of solar power is expected to be generated from each plant. Hon'ble Railway Minister Shri.Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu flagged off Train No. 06576 from Mangalore Jn on 9.4.17 through video conferencing from Goa. On the same day he also dedicated the 82 km long newly electrified section between Mangalore Jn/ Mangalore Central and Charvattur and the new double line between Panambur and Jokatte with new block station of Jokatte. Shri.Nalin Kumar Kateel, Hon'ble MP, Dakshina Kannada laid the foundation stone for ‘New bays of platform shelters’ on Platform No. 2/3 and a new Foot Over Bridge at Mangalore Central on 09.04.2017. Highest ever Ticket checking earnings for a month - Rs. 69.63 Lakhs was recorded during April,2017 surpassing the previous best of Rs.66.86 lakhs recorded during March-17. Shri.Mullapalli Ramachandran, Hon’ble M P inaugurated the extended platform at Mukkali Railway station on 17.05.2017 . “International Level Crossing Awareness Week” was observed from 29.5.17 to 2.6.17 Hon’ble MP Shri. P.V.Abdul Wahab inaugurated the newly constructed platform shelter at Nilambur Road on 17.6.17. World environment day was celebrated on 5.6.17 by planting tree saplings all over the Division. In this connection a seminar was conducted in the meeting hall of Divisional Office. Dr.Rashmi, Professor, Engineering College, Palakkad made a presentation with speech stressing the importance of reconnecting with nature. Meditation and Yoga programme was conducted by Prajapitha Brahmakumaris, Palakkad at Divisional Office from 14.6.2017 to 16.6.2017. Officers and staff have participated in the Yoga programme. “International Yoga Day” was observed on 21.06.2017, in a big and befitting manner to spread awareness among officers and staff. The programme was inaugurated by DRM at Railway Kalyanamandapam Palakkad. Officers and staff participated in the yoga Programme which was led by eminent Yoga Master Shri. K.P. Asokan, Palakkad. As part of International Yoga day celebration Yoga classes were organized at Rail Kalyanamandapam, Palakkad for five days from 21.6.2017 to 25.6.2017. The yoga classes were conducted by Yogacharyas from SivanandaAshramam, Railway Colony, Palakkad. Shri.Nalin Kumar Kateel, Hon’ble M P inaugurated the approach road to Railway station at Mangaluru Central on 06.07.17 As per instructions of Railway Board a fortnight long “SwachhtaPakhwada” cleanliness drive was organised from 16.08.2017 to 31.08.2017. Special emphasis was given to improve the cleanliness of all stations, depot premises, offices and colonies of the Division and got a facelift on completion of the drive. Awareness campaigns, seminars, collection of passenger feedback, intensive cleaning of coaches, anti-littering campaigns were also part of the drive. GM dedicated the new Hostel building for MDTC at Palakkad on 14.09.2017. Division has participated in the “Tech fest INQUA'17’ exhibition organized by College of Engineering, Trikkarippur on 16th and 17th of September 2017 and highlighted uniqueness of Indian Railways on the themes, Safety and cleanliness. As per instructions of Railway Board a fortnight long Swachata Hi Seva cleanliness drive celebrating 3rd Anniversary of SwachhBharath Mission on the occasion of the Gandhi Jayanti Divas was observed from 15.09.2017 to 02.10.2017. Special emphasis was given to improvement in cleanliness of all stations, depot premises, offices and colonies of the Division. Public places adjoining to Railway premises got a facelift on completion of the drive. Awareness campaigns, seminars, intensive cleaning of coaches, anti-littering campaigns were conducted as part of the drive. Shri. Abdul Wahab, Hon’ble MP, Nilambur inaugurated the 14 meter High mast light with LED at Nilambur Road station on 21.10.2017. Fund for this work has been provided by the MP from MPLAD funds. Palakkad Division conducted the Cleanliness drive under the “SwachchBharath Mission”, as part of Swachchta Hi Sevaon 2nd October 2017 to mark the beginning of the fourth year of SwachchBharath Mission. The under signed administered a pledge to all the officers and staff of Divisional office, Palakkad on 2.10.2015. Officers and staff have actively took part in the Shramadhan. Suchita Mission staff from Govt of Kerala telecast a short film on cleanliness awareness in the CCTVs at Palakkad Jn. “Vigilance Awareness Week” was observed in the Division from 30.10.2017 to 04.11.2017. The undersigned has administered the Vigilance Awareness pledge to the Officers and staff at Divisional Office on 30.10.2017. Walkathon from Divisional Office to Palakkad Railway station was organized in connection with vigilance awareness week. All Officers, staff and School students participated. A seminar chaired by SDGM & CVO/MAS was also conducted on 03.11.2017. “RashtriyaEkta Divas” was observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardarvallabh Bhai Patel in the Division on 31.10.2017. ” Run for Unity” was also organized in connection with RashtriyaEkta Divas. QuamiEkta Week was celebrated from 19.11.17 to 25.11.2017. A “KaviSammelan”was conducted on21.11.2017 in connection with QuamiEkta Week. Kids of Vivekodaya Nursery School played a show on cultural unity on 24.11.2017. Third Constitution Day was celebrated on 27.11.2017 in Divisional office. All officers and staff took part and read the PREAMBLE. An essay completion and a Quiz competition were conducted at Railway school, Palakkad. INNOVATIONS The Electronic In-Motion Weigh Bridge at PNMB yard became out of order on 24.12.16. Repair/Remodelling and certification of Weigh Bridge by legal metrology department was completed and commissioned on 03.03.2017 through Digital weighing systems. One ladder trolley and stagger gauge was fabricated at OHE Depot/ Quilandi. Mangalore depot has developed a tool to provide gap between faceplates of side buffers to facilitate lubrication. The faceplates of side buffer in ICF coaches are in constant contact and subject to wear and tear. Proper lubrication is not possible at the mating faces since there is no gap available. A trolley has been fabricated at IOH/Shoranur for easy transportation of bogie frame for washing. A trolley with propping facility has been developed at Mangaluru to attend sick coaches in pit line due to height variation of pit line platform and floor. This trolley can be used for transporting materials like spring, jack etc. to the work spot in normal mode. After reaching the spot, the trolley can be lifted and supported on the four legs and the trolley surface can be used as a workstation. As a precautionary measure to avoid engine failure in 140T diesel crane due to clogging of diesel filter, a pre-filtering unit has been assembled at Shoranur to filter the HSD oil before filling to the fuel tank of crane. A filter used in locomotive is used for this purpose. A test bench has been installed at Mangalore Jn sick line near single car test rig for testing DV.
