Hampton Classic Horse Show

2010 Sponsor Report Executive Director: ShanetteCohen

Dear Sponsor,

Thank you so much for your support of the 2010 Hampton Classic, and your role in en- suring it was one of our most successful events to date.

I am so pleased to present you with our 2010 Sponsor Report. We were delighted to wel- come back so many returning sponsors and quite a few new sponsors as well!

Once again, the Hampton Classic featured hunters, equitation, and exciting world class show-jumping competition as well as some of our most popular activities such as Just- World International’s Horseless Horse Show during our Exhibitor Party and Cablevision’s Kid’s Day. We were excited to host the first of what we hope will be an annual event at the Hampton Classic – ASPCA’s Adoption Day. In addition to facilitating the adoption of many dogs, cats, and even horses, this event raised awareness about the importance of finding permanent homes for unwanted and neglected animals. We were also proud to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Long Island Horse Show Series for Rider’s with Disabilities Finals.

We’d like to extend a special thank you to FTI Consulting, Title Sponsor of the $250,000 FTI Grand Prix and World Cup™ Qualifier. For the second year in a row, McLain Ward made history by winning the class, now for a record fifth time. He and his amazing mare, Sapphire, showed us why they’re two-time Team Olympic Gold-Medal winners.

We truly appreciate the support and involvement of the entire roster of Hampton Clas- sic sponsors. We wouldn’t have a successful show without you and hope you will con- tinue to work with us again next year and well into the future. Mark your calendars now for the 2011 Hampton Classic Horse Show: August 28 to September 4.

Thank you, again, for your continued support.

All the best, Shanette Barth Cohen Executive Director

1 Sponsor Workshop: 2010

On June 21, 2010 The Hampton Classic Horse Show hosted its annual Corporate Sponsor Workshop at NASDAQ OMX Mar- ketSite in in . More than 75 spon- sors attended this gathering which featured guest speakers and the Classic’s management team, with an emphasis on as- sisting sponsors in getting the most out of their Hampton Classic partnership.

Our first guest speaker, Valerie K. Angeli, Senior Director of Equine Events & Special Projects for the ASPCA, discussed the many creative and interactive elements the ASPCA utilizes through its sponsorship of Hampton Classic to reach their main objectives – raising awareness about the important work of the ASPCA, raising funds through donations and corporate contributions, and entertaining and cultivating top donors and celebrity/athlete relationships.

Our next speaker, Michelle McFaul, Vice President of Commu- nity Affairs & Special Events for Nespresso offered examples of how she and her team utilize event sponsorships to meet their main objectives – sampling Nespresso coffees, showcasing other Nespresso products and machines, and entertaining and cultivating Nespresso clients.

The keynote speaker, William Chipps, Senior Editor of the IEG Sponsorship Report for IEG, LLC spoke about best practices for making a corporate sponsorship as meaningful as possible, through activation. Mr. Chipps covered topics such as cross promotions, utilizing hospitality opportunities, and using co- op advertising.

Immediately following the presentations, attendees had an op- portunity to network with one another and enjoy a delicious meal, Nespresso coffees and FIJI water in the beautiful NAS- DAQ MarketSite setting. ©2010 R. Braccini photos

The Hampton Classic Horse Show executes an extensive advertising campaign throughout the East End of Long Island, in the greater New York Area, and through equine media outlets with a much larger reach. Some ads appear courtesy of our sponsors and other ads are part of a paid advertising campaign. The Classic’s advertising placements this year included black and white and color ads in local media outlets as well as in a variety of national and regional publications. In addition, Hampton Classic ran extensive radio and television advertising, and even added a billboard placement as part of this year’s advertising program.

Radio Hampton Classic ran commercial spots with a number of Eastern Long Island radio stations, including Peconic Public Broadcasting 88.3, WBAZ and WEHM (Long Island Radio Broadcasting) and WLNG. In addition, the Hampton Classic ran an extensive flight of spots on WCBS Newsradio 880 AM, in the Greater New York region.

Television In advance of the 2010 Hampton Classic, television ads were presented by media sponsors Cablevision Systems Corporation and WVVH Hamptons Television. WVVH created a 30 second commercial for the Classic which aired hundreds of times on WVVH locally and in . The same commercial ran extensively through the month of August on stations carried by Cablevision, airing 464 times. The spot also ran on the NASDAQ MarketSite Marquee in New York City.

Internet/Electronic Media This year, the Hampton Classic had an automated advertisement on newsday.com and a banner ad on galavante.com, a website for the sophisticated traveler.

The Hampton Classic website offered competition schedules and results, photographs, general show information (including listings of boutique vendors, history, and accommodations) and sponsorship and advertising information. Corporate partners were high- lighted in a special “sponsors” tab, where corporate logos appeared to link visitors back to their websites.

The Hampton Classic maintained a Facebook Fan page for the second year in a row to keep exhibitors, spectators, and sponsors in- formed of news and events at the Hampton Classic. Currently, the page has more than 3,500 fans that can view photos, get recent information, and discuss the Hampton Classic year round. Links on the fan page drive traffic to the Hampton Classic website as well.

In addition, the Hampton Classic sent out a handful of “blast” emails to the Hampton Classic’s email database. These email blasts often updated subscribers on developments at the show while tying in a special offer or invitation from a sponsor.
