To this end, a historical study and analysis of scientific literature on the development of navigation in the central and eastern regions of the Ukrainian lands, as well as in Galicia, was conducted. It was established that during the period of Galicia being found in the II Rzecz Pospolita (20–30th years of the 20th century) among Ukrainians there was a spread only on volleyball and football. Track and field athletics, skiing, but also swimming. The first swimming competitions in Galicia took place in June 1923 in Lviv on a natural reservoir. Both during the first and subsequent swimmings (R. Shukhevych, O. Priphan, O. Dutkevich, Valko, O. Dzjaba) competed in all kinds of swimming (free style, bracelet, butterfly, relay swimming) and showed sports The results of which were at the level with athletes of the Ukrainian people's republic. The formation and development of swimming in Galicia is closely linked with the sports clubs «Carpathian Leshtiaryan Club», «Sokol», «Chernik», «Sokol-Father» in the cities of Lviv, Stanislaviv, Ternopil. 1 Birthday parties at 16 and 18 years are very popular and become public occasions with lots of relatives and friends as guests. A t 16 Russians receive their passports and can vote. A t 18 they come of age and no longer need permission from their parents to sign legal documents. 2 A s in South Africa, the type of birthday presents you select for close friends depends on their interests or hobbies. Russians prefer to have presents which they can keep to remind them of their friends and parties. Providing the food is usually the duty of the host at a party. They will not understand if you bring home-made salads, cakes or deserts. 3 Friends are not usually allowed to see a newborn baby for at least 14 days. This protects the baby from unexpected illness. W hen you visit Russians on these occasions it will be appreciated if you bring presents such as children's clothes, bedding or toys. 1 In Russia, as in South Africa, there are different options for a wedding ceremony: • in a church • by a magistrate (official and mandatory). The first marriage usually takes place at the Palace of Marriage. A wedding is a solemn, public occasion. 2 The Russian bride usually wears a gown and veil, and has the accoutrements of a church wedding. 3 A bachelor party and a kitchen tea which have been arranged by the bride and bridegroom are not obligatory. 4 Presents are given to the newlyweds at the wedding party. 5 A t a wedding party, which is usually quite a charming table ceremony with a large list of guests (naturally, this depends on the financial standing of the families), after a toast traditionally guests shout' Q o r'k o f (The wine tastes bitter!) and the newlyweds have to kiss each other to 'make the wine sweet'.

Coney Island History Project Oral History Archive Interviewee: Naum Barash Interviewer: Mark Markov http://www.coneyislandhistory.org/oral-history-archive/naum-barash Content © 2017 Coney Island History Project. All material on the CIHP website is copyrighted and cannot be used without permission. Mark Markov – This is Mark Markov for the Coney Island History Project and today I’m interviewing Naum Barash. Talk about the first time you went winter swimming. Naum Barash – It was a long time ago [laughs]. When I was a student, I studied at the Kursk Polytechnic Institute, and the institute was located almost on the bank of a river – it was just a five-minute walk. I started to swim in September, every day before lessons began. As time went on, I thought, “If I could swim yesterday, why can’t I swim today? It’s only a little colder.” And so I would continue to swim until the water became very cold, and there was even a crust of ice. And then other people starting coming to swim, who were doing winter sports. And somehow we teamed up. From then on until today – this year is probably my fiftieth [winter] swimming season – I do this. MM – So, in Kursk you first swam on your own and only later in a group? NB – Yes, but I swam alone back in the fall. That is, I was just swimming (I used to do [non-winter] swimming) without the goal of doing so in the winter. But when I felt that this wasn’t that bad, and met people who were into winter swimming, I joined their group.

The biovariability of TRAP values was also analysed. The WBC group was exposed to 2110˚C for 2 min, whereas the exposure for the WS group lasted 20 s in ice-cold water. Sessions were organized three times per week for 12 weeks. Blood specimens were collected at 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks at rest, 2 and 35 min after the cold exposures and at the corresponding times without cold exposure on a separate day. Conventional methods were used to determine TRAP values. The between-subject variation was 13.6% and the within-subject variation 6.4%. The index of individuality was 0.46, and the index of heterogeneity was 0.079. These results indicate a marked heterogeneity among subjects.

Meeting Day will vote up or Mdown on whether to allow the sale of recreational marijuana to adults beginning in 2022. The City Council on Wednesday, Jan. 13, unanimously approved a ballot item for Town Meeting Day that reads: “Shall the City of Montpelier permit the opera- tion of cannabis Retailers and Integrated Licensees which are licensed by the State of Vermont pursuant to Act 164 of 2020, subject to such municipal ordinance and regulation as the City Council may law- fully adopt and implement”? Under the law passed in the Legislature last fall, each town must vote to allow the sale of recreational marijuana before any individual licenses can be obtained. The “opt-in” vote, as opposed to an “opt- out” method, was a compromise between House and Senate negotiators that helped pass the long-debated bill. Gov. Phil Scott allowed the bill to become law without his signature. Middlebury was the first community to set a Town Meeting Day vote.
