She and Elgin migrated to Phoenix in 1942 right after the war broke out because they could not continue a flying business on the West Coast. Juanita and Elgin owned a flying school for a few years at Phoenix Skyharbor Air­ port and Juanita instructed about 10 years, even some in acrobatics. Juanita is a Charter Member of the Phoenix Chapter of the 99's and has always been active in the Chapter.
