The jet departed runway 25R at 7:55am, passing between Meadows Park and Mohr Elem at 1800 ft MSL, then crossing 580 over Santa Rita exit at 2500 ft MSL. The Pleasanton area south of 580 between El Charro Rd and Santa Rita Rd is directly underneath the approach and departure corridor for Livermore Airport's main runway. When an aircraft takes off from that runway on a flight plan (which includes most jets) they are given instructions by the FAA which they are required to follow that state that pilots will fly the runway heading straight ahead until reaching 1200 ft MSL, at which point they can begin their turn to the right at any point after that, so long as they don't enter Oakland's airspace. Even if the pilots begin their turn immediately upon reaching 1200 ft MSL, it still takes some time to get the jet turned at those kinds of speeds. Airport Staff will continue to reach out to all our tenants and flight schools etc., to seek their voluntary cooperation and understanding in avoiding residential overflight whenever safe and practical to do so. (A temperature inversion can have the same effect) Amplifying is maybe the wrong word, but the clouds can bounce the sound back down to the ground and you end up hearing things differently and seemingly louder. You are incorrect that a northwest wind is a "crosswind takeoff. Which I've been told is dangerous. I've been told directly perpendicular to takeoff". Livermore Airport's runways run east planes need to take off into the wind which would have this to west.. A direct crosswind would come from the north or south. As I plane immediately banking to the southwest vs to the north have mentioned before, the most dangerous wind condition when taking which was it's path according to visual observance and off or landing is to have a wind (or gust of wind) hitting your tail from radar. The path of this specific flight appears to defy the FAA behind and at an angle. A northwest wind would be hitting the plane and Livermore airport's logic and prior responses justifying from the front and at an angle to the right of the nose, not from behind the flight paths that "must" be taken to comply with safety on the tail. After checking the audio from the Control Tower, there were 3 aircraft in the traffic pattern for the smaller south runway (25L) from 4:30pm - 4:45pm, all of which were practicing touch and go's. One was white with red stripes, one white with thin blue-grey lines, and one was white with a big blue streak down the fuselage. All three, according to their radar tracks during this time were in the 900-1200 ft MSL altitude range while This blue and white plane continues to circle my home very above your location. The jet departed 25R at 1:08pm, passing north of Meadows Park at 1800 ft MSL and crossing 580 in its right turn between El Charro and Santa Rita exits at 2200 ft MSL. The Pleasanton area south of 580 between El Charro Rd and Santa Rita Rd is directly underneath the approach and departure corridor for Livermore Airport's main runway. When an aircraft takes off from that runway on a flight plan (which includes most jets) they are given instructions by the FAA which they are required to follow that state that pilots will fly the runway heading straight ahead until reaching 1200 ft MSL, at which point they can begin their turn to the right at any point after that, so long as they don't enter Oakland's airspace. Even if the pilots begin their turn immediately upon reaching 1200 ft MSL, it still takes some time to get the jet turned at those kinds of speeds. Airport Staff will continue to reach out to all our tenants and flight schools etc., to seek their voluntary cooperation and understanding in avoiding residential overflight whenever safe and practical to do so. When an aircraft takes off from that runway on a flight plan (which includes most jets) they are given instructions by the FAA which they are required to follow that state that pilots will fly the runway heading straight ahead until reaching 1200 ft MSL, at which point they can begin their turn to the right at any point after that, so long as EXTREMELY low and loud. Directly over my house- banked they don't enter Oakland's airspace. The jet departed 25R at 09:39, and started making it's right turn before reaching El Charro, passing over Meadows Park at 2100 ft MSL and crossing 580 just east of Santa Rita exit at 2600 ft MSL. I believe it was the 4th jet of the morning. The Pleasanton area south of 580 between El Charro Rd and Santa Rita Rd is directly underneath the approach and departure corridor for Livermore Airport's main runway. When an aircraft takes off from that runway on a flight plan (which includes most jets) they are given instructions by the FAA which they are required to follow that state that pilots will fly the runway heading straight ahead until reaching 1200 ft MSL, at which point they can begin their turn to the right at any point after that, so long as they don't enter Oakland's airspace. Even if the pilots begin their turn immediately upon reaching 1200 ft MSL, it still takes some time to get the jet turned at those kinds of speeds. The jet (G5) was making its approach to land following the FAA prescribed glide-slope down to runway 25R, passing over Vasco at 1800 ft MSl and 1000 ft MSL over N. Livermore Ave. This glide-slope is part of the ILS (Instrument Landing System), installed at this airport in 1979, which is a radio beacon signal that originates from the runway and beams out over the Altamont towards the valley. Pilots tune into this system which helps them line up with the centerline of the runway, even when still several miles out towards the east, and allows them to safely navigate to the runway especially in bad weather or when the runway is obscured. It's the safest and most efficient way for pilots to land, especially if they are unfamiliar with the field or are in inclement weather or fog etc. Most jets will follow this straight in approach as it also minimizes how much they are mixing with other smaller propeller aircraft which typically operate at a much slower speed. Typically the winds favor landings from the east. Since this aircraft had just departed and was steadily climbing, the FAA would not say this pilot had violated any minimum altitude (nor any other FAR that I am aware of). When an aircraft takes off from that runway on a flight plan (which includes most jets) they are given instructions by the FAA which they are required to follow that state that pilots will fly the runway heading straight ahead until reaching 1200 ft MSL, at which point they can begin their turn to the right at any point after that, so long as they don't enter Oakland's airspace.
