The Pleasanton area south of 580 between El Charro Rd and Santa Rita Rd is directly underneath the approach and departure corridor for Livermore Airport's main runway. When an aircraft takes off from that runway on a flight plan (which includes most jets) they are given instructions by the FAA which they are required to follow that state that pilots will fly the runway heading straight ahead until reaching 1200 ft MSL, at which point they can begin their turn to the right at any point after that, so long as they don't enter Oakland's airspace. Even if the pilots begin their turn immediately upon reaching 1200 ft MSL, it still takes some time to get the jet turned at those kinds of speeds. Airport Staff will continue to reach out to all our tenants and flight schools etc., to seek their voluntary cooperation and understanding in avoiding residential overflight whenever safe and practical to do so.
