Here is the line-up for the Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival, 30 July – 2 August 2020 Instead of cancelling the international jazz festival in Ystad, the festival has engaged major Swedish jazz artists who are currently in the country and a number of international names. With this approach, the festival wants to support the Swedish music scene with a total of 23 events over four days. Ten concerts will be livestreamed from the main stages, Ystads Teater and Ystad Saltsjöbad.

Artist Jan Lundgren, the festival’s Artistic Director, has invited among the artists Nils Landgren (ranked as the world’s best trombonist by Jazztimes, USA), Johan Norberg, Ida Sand, Scott Hamilton, Hans Backenroth, Ulf Wakenius, Jakob Karlzon, Per “Texas” Johansson, Fredrik Ljungqvist, Karl-Martin Almkvist, Amanda Sedgwick, Anders Bergcrantz, Lars Danielsson, Wolfgang Haffner, Kathrine Windfeld, Svante Thuresson, Monday Night Big Band and many others. A total of 82 artists – 36% of them are female artists – and one big band.

Livestreaming The concerts at Ystads Teater and Ystad Saltsjöbad will be livestreamed via ystadjazz.se and musikisydchannel.se

“Swedish jazz is of a high international standard and that is something the festival particularly wants to emphasise this year. Things are tough for our musicians right now. Many concerts have disappeared, causing financial setbacks, therefore it feels especially good to be able to hold the festival this year. Of course, without the considerable support of Musik i Syd and our funding organisations it would not have been possible”, says Jan Lundgren, Artistic Director.

Tickets A limited number of seats are available for the concerts at Ystad Saltsjöbad and Ystads Teater via ystadjazz.se. The number of seats for each concert are in accordance with the Swedish Public Health Agency’s restrictions. Follow information updates on ystadjazz.se and Facebook. Tickets available on 19 June at 10.00.

Virtual tickets The public are encouraged to buy virtual tickets for the streamed concerts at ystadjazz.se as a way to support the festival. Buyers of a SEK 600 ticket will receive a copy of Karl Valve’s art poster.

Jazz artist 2020 Karl Valve is this year’s jazz artist. His original work, photo transfer on plexiglass mounted on polished aluminium, will be auctioned via ystadjazz.se to support the festival. The original is also available as an art poster.
