Three years ago he found a quartet with the former e.s.t. drummer Magnus Öström, the British guitarist John Paricelli and most of all as a new dream team duo with Armenian pianist Tigran. It interpreted his compositions and realised his musical ideas more precisely than probably any ensemble before it. John Parricelli guitar John Parricelli has performed and recorded with some of the top names in the world of jazz and contemporary music, including Kenny Wheeler, Lee Konitz, Peter Erskine, Charlie Haden, Paul Motian, Lars Danielsson, Dave Holland, Andy Sheppard, Mark Anthony Turnage and John Adams. He is also much in demand as a studio player, both in the world of film music, contributing to over 200 soundtracks, includingLord of the Rings, Skyfall, Hugo, Shakespeare in Love, The Constant Gardener, Finding Neverland and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and in pop music, working with artists such as David Gilmour, Rumer, Alison Moyet, Annie Lennox, Robbie Williams, Duffy, Mike Oldfield, Katie Meluah and KT Tunstall.

Raffaele Casarano OLTREMARE Project available in duo, trio, quartet https://youtu.be/7uqfU5Sxemg Raffaele Casarano is considered one of the most talented and well-known musicians of the Italian New Jazz Generation, flagship of Paolo Fresu Tǔk Music. "Oltremare" is his fourth album published by Fresu label and it was released on June 15th 2018. Raffaele Casarano with this new project has given life to a new phase of his career, launched from the moment of great professional maturity achieved towards consecration at European level. This new and important musical adventure sees Raffaele even more attentive and sensitive to one of the central themes of our contemporaneity such as immigration, diversity, respect for all forms of life. The saxophonist is here as the leader of an international band (Manu Katché on drums, Lars Danielsson on double bass and cello and Eric Legnini on piano, Fender Rodhes and Synth) and the mind of a different musical research, which sinks directly into the soul of the same musicians, in the roots of African gospel and African deppest sonorities, soul music and hip hop. Without changing the original soul of it, the project is also available in two "slim" versions: in trio with the Legnini and Michele Papadia or in a duo with only Eric Legnini. An ambitious band in any way is declined! Raffaele composed all the pieces of the new repertoire and has tried to give the group a deep and impact sound. The group moves in his music like a single body, in which all the elements must be perfectly integrated and balanced.

  • Biography of Lars Danielsson
Biography of Lars Danielsson The late great Danish bass legend Nils-Henning Ǿrsted Pedersen didn't only leave the world a direct legacy of great jazz through his own playing; a part of what he has bequeathed is indirect. When the young Swedish musician Lars Danielsson once heard him in concert, he was so deeply affected, he turned towards jazz, and to the bass. Until that point, Danielsson, born in Gothenburg in 1958, had been studying classical cello at the conservatory in his home town of Gothenburg. Fortunately, that study of the cello is not something he has chosen to shrug off, he has integrated it into what he does now. Not just in the sense that he always includes the cello in his repertoire, but also that his bass-playing unmistakably has a slightly more melodious, floating and lyrical ring to it than that of many of his fellow bass players. These were the special qualities which soon placed him in very high demand internationally as a sideman. As early as the 1980s, he had worked not only with local and European greats such as Lars Jansson, Hans Ulrik, Carsten Dahl, Nils Landgren, Christopher Dell, Johannes Enders and Trilok Gurtu (in whose group he remained a member for some time), but also with luminaries of the American scene such as saxophonists Rick Margitza and Charles Lloyd, the Brecker Brothers, drummers Terri Lyne Carrington , Jack DeJohnette and Billy Hart or guitarists John Scofield, Mike Stern and John Abercrombie. But Danielsson has never been content with just an accompanying role. He has always been a creative composer as well and is one of a relatively small group of bassists who has also emerged as a significant bandleader.

I have been blessed with such moments whilst working with wonderful artists like Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Youn Sun Nah a.o. and it is a very humbling experience. On this CD I have chosen to explore the acoustic guitar and see what natural sounds you can create on this great instrument. I will keep on searching for that Momento Magico. 01 Ballad For E. Magnus has put a lot of emotions in this great composition which is simply beautiful in its pureness.

As Music Editor for the Voice, he had come up with the Consumer Guide format back in 1969. His original format was twenty records, each accorded a single-paragraph review ending with a letter grade. His domain was rock and roll, but his taste and interests ranged widely, so his CGs regularly featured country, blues, folk, reggae, jazz, and later world (especially African), hip-hop, and electronica. Aside from two years off working for Newsday (when his Consumer Guide was published monthly in Creem), the Voice published his columns more-or-less monthly up to 2006, when new owners purged most of the Senior Editors. Since then he's continued writing in the format for a series of Webzines -- MSN Music, Medium,

I’m Bill Kirchner. We’re here in my home in South Orange, New Jersey, and we’re going to be talking with NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman. Let’s start out with the most obvious thing. What’s your full name, Dave? Liebman: No middle name. In fact, when I was about 13 or something, I said, “How come I don’t have a middle name?” to my mother, and she said, “Choose one.” In those days I was enamored by all the tough guys in the neighborhood, who were Vinny, Vito, Tony, Tito. I said, “Can I do Tito or Vinny?” She said, “No, I don’t think so.” So that was the end of any middle name. Nobody in our family has middle names. This is a rarity, I guess. Kirchner: And just so we get the formal stuff out of the way, you were born what day? Liebman: September 4th, 1946, Brooklyn, New York. Kirchner: In a hospital? At home? Liebman: Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. Kirchner: What were your parents’ names? Liebman: Francis. Her maiden name was Gatina – Hungarian, Alsace, a little German, and my father was a Liebman.
