Now the time has come to hand over the Montmartre stage in their hands, and they have col- lected what they believe to be the best young musicians on the jazz scene today for this very special evening. Magnus Hjorth, Bjørn Ingelstam and Johan Christoffersson have all received great recognition for their playing and talents, as well as winning awards and putting out albums, needless to say the jazz community is keeping a close eye on these cats. Together with her favorite Danish-Swedish trio with pianist Jakob Karlzon, bassist Morten Ramsbøl and drummer Morten Lund, she will be singing new and old songs as well as a couple of classics. A fourth album is also on the way in the Spring of 2012 with this same great line-up. DANISH GUITAR HERO PLAYS JAZZ THURSDAY JACOB CHRISTOFFERSEN TRIO Jan 19 FEAT. Raffaele Casarano OLTREMARE Project available in duo, trio, quartet https://youtu.be/7uqfU5Sxemg Raffaele Casarano is considered one of the most talented and well-known musicians of the Italian New Jazz Generation, flagship of Paolo Fresu Tǔk Music. "Oltremare" is his fourth album published by Fresu label and it was released on June 15th 2018. Raffaele Casarano with this new project has given life to a new phase of his career, launched from the moment of great professional maturity achieved towards consecration at European level. This new and important musical adventure sees Raffaele even more attentive and sensitive to one of the central themes of our contemporaneity such as immigration, diversity, respect for all forms of life. The saxophonist is here as the leader of an international band (Manu Katché on drums, Lars Danielsson on double bass and cello and Eric Legnini on piano, Fender Rodhes and Synth) and the mind of a different musical research, which sinks directly into the soul of the same musicians, in the roots of African gospel and African deppest sonorities, soul music and hip hop. Without changing the original soul of it, the project is also available in two "slim" versions: in trio with the Legnini and Michele Papadia or in a duo with only Eric Legnini. An ambitious band in any way is declined! Raffaele composed all the pieces of the new repertoire and has tried to give the group a deep and impact sound. The group moves in his music like a single body, in which all the elements must be perfectly integrated and balanced.

  • Biography of Lars Danielsson
Biography of Lars Danielsson The late great Danish bass legend Nils-Henning Ǿrsted Pedersen didn't only leave the world a direct legacy of great jazz through his own playing; a part of what he has bequeathed is indirect. When the young Swedish musician Lars Danielsson once heard him in concert, he was so deeply affected, he turned towards jazz, and to the bass. Until that point, Danielsson, born in Gothenburg in 1958, had been studying classical cello at the conservatory in his home town of Gothenburg. Fortunately, that study of the cello is not something he has chosen to shrug off, he has integrated it into what he does now. Not just in the sense that he always includes the cello in his repertoire, but also that his bass-playing unmistakably has a slightly more melodious, floating and lyrical ring to it than that of many of his fellow bass players. These were the special qualities which soon placed him in very high demand internationally as a sideman. As early as the 1980s, he had worked not only with local and European greats such as Lars Jansson, Hans Ulrik, Carsten Dahl, Nils Landgren, Christopher Dell, Johannes Enders and Trilok Gurtu (in whose group he remained a member for some time), but also with luminaries of the American scene such as saxophonists Rick Margitza and Charles Lloyd, the Brecker Brothers, drummers Terri Lyne Carrington , Jack DeJohnette and Billy Hart or guitarists John Scofield, Mike Stern and John Abercrombie. But Danielsson has never been content with just an accompanying role. He has always been a creative composer as well and is one of a relatively small group of bassists who has also emerged as a significant bandleader.

  • Bob Rockwell Quartet Featuring Ben Sidran BOB's
Bob Rockwell Quartet featuring Ben Sidran BOB’s BEN - A Salute To Ben Webster Tenor saxophonist Ben Webster was a large man in every way. Physically, he was tall and heavyset. His playing was rich in timbre; his sound was enormous, but full of air as well. Before his death in 1973, Webster lived in Denmark for several years. His presence and his work with Danish musicians had enormous influence on the Danish jazz scene. 60 year old tenor saxophonist Bob Rockwell has also made his home in Denmark. His re-discovery of Webster led to BOB’s BEN – a deeply felt, warm tribute to the old master. Bob Rockwell’s previous release, BOB’S WILDER, was quite a sensation. It earned him first place in Jazz Special’s annual reader’s poll, as well as the equivalent poll among the magazine’s critics and writers – the first time ever that readers and reviewers have been in agreement in the magazine’s poll. This fact illustrates the scope of Bob Rockwell’s art: he enjoys a wide popularity among jazz audiences as well as the respect of the critics. Rockwell’s intelligent, spellbinding and passionate playing has made him one of the most loved and popular musicians on the Danish jazz scene. Bob Rockwell began performing at an early age with organ trios and touring groups, which landed him in show orchestras in Las Vegas for a spell. In the mid-70s he moved to New York where his activities included a seat in the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra and steady gigs with Tito Puente, Freddie Hubbard and Ben Sidran.

  • Thomas Blachman, Carsten Dahl and Lennart Ginman Interpreted a Number of Jazz Standards on Blachman Introduces Standard Jazz & Rap, Vol
From a tight, rhythmic pulsing swing beat to abstract, dissolving free structures, it is music of its GinmanBlachmanDahl time rooted in the classic, beguiling melancholy of jazz, yet simultaneously invoking a universal meeting among three virtuoso instrumentalists. It is an attempt to make time stand still, in a moment of utter selflessness in the service of music. Three instruments conversing in a pure language without small talk and automatism. Each member of the trio is a leading figure on the Danish music scene. All three have a large body of work behind them, testament to extreme artistic diversity and freedom in their creative approach. GinmanBlachmanDahl occasionally take part in musical meetings with other artists, including such names as Palle Mikkelborg, Nils Petter Molvær, Claus Hempler and Stephen Riley. This album is produced in collaboration with Danish loudspeaker manufacturer, DALI, whose hi-fi speakers are acclaimed for a clear, authentic and natural sound that reproduces the music as intended by the artists. DALI has released several compilations with the aim to give music lovers a clear, dynamic and natural sound experience - all done in respect and admiration for music, the artists and our audience. The Velvet Blues is the trio’s third release. Previous releases include: GinmanBlachmanDahl is an exceptional trio on the Scandinavian jazz scene in 2020. The Library Bar Concerts (2003) The group consists of three of the country’s most significant musical personalities. The trio was the GinmanBlachmanDahl (2004) first Danish group ever released by legendary Verve Records. Their unshakeable faith in the magic of improvisation among the three instrumentalists is the very foundation of GinmanBlachmanDahl’s Press reviews: open musical universe, earning them a well-deserved reputation for delivering fiery live performances.
