STEFAN PASBORG Three time Grammy/Danish Music Awards-winner STEFAN PASBORG is a highly energetic drummer from the melting pot of Copenhagen, and after getting a snare drum, a cymbal and a high-hat at the age of three from renowned jazz drummer Alex Riel, he has developed into a very personal musician on the European jazz scene. He never received any training and yet Jun 04 he has worked his way to play with the likes of Ed Thigpen, Randy Brecker 20.00 (8pm) and Joe Lovano and along the way received numerous prizes including Danish Winner of the Jazzpar 2000. It is obvious why Carsten Dahl is Den- DKK 375 mark’s most wanted jazz pianist, and at Montmartre we are happy to finally presenting his latest trio project featuring two of Norway’s most prominent jazz artists: Arild Andersen whom we are not afraid to call one of Europe’s leading bass players today, and Jon Christensen, a true innovator and original on drums. from this unrelentingness, surrounding you until you GLOBE UNITY: DENMARK are breathing nothing but bass notes. Robert Landfermann is a continuation of a long- standing tradition of German avant garde bassists, Peter Kowald and Buschi Niebergall in the forefront. His profile is rising working alongside such progressive pianists as Simon Nabatov and Achim Kaufmann as well as peers like drummer Christian Lillinger. It is a testament to Landfermann’s vision that he didn’t even wait until he exited his 20s before making his first solo disc. He emphatically states that all the music on Null is bass and bow, without preparations or effects. The caveat is necessary as otherwise some of the otherworldly sounds he elicits In Our Own Sweet Way seem nearly impossible to be produced purely by a Carsten Dahl/Mads Vinding/Alex Riel (Storyville) bass - maybe a creaky door in a windstorm or leaking The Meeting Solo Barre Phillips (Kadima Collective) warp coil but not a bass. But he also works within Hans Ulrik/George Colligan/ Another Childhood Claude Tchamitchian (Émouvance) ‘recognizable’ tonalities like hornets’ nest pizzicato.
