Intro 1996 National List of Vascular Plant Species That Occur in Wetlands The Fish and Wildlife Service has prepared a National List of Vascular Plant Species That Occur in Wetlands: 1996 National Summary (1996 National List). The 1996 National List is a draft revision of the National List of Plant Species That Occur in Wetlands: 1988 National Summary (Reed 1988) (1988 National List). The 1996 National List is provided to encourage additional public review and comments on the draft regional wetland indicator assignments. The 1996 National List reflects a significant amount of new information that has become available since 1988 on the wetland affinity of vascular plants. This new information has resulted from the extensive use of the 1988 National List in the field by individuals involved in wetland and other resource inventories, wetland identification and delineation, and wetland research. Interim Regional Interagency Review Panel (Regional Panel) changes in indicator status as well as additions and deletions to the 1988 National List were documented in Regional supplements. The National List was originally developed as an appendix to the Classification of Wetlands and Deepwater Habitats of the United States (Cowardin et al.1979) to aid in the consistent application of this classification system for wetlands in the field.. The 1996 National List also was developed to aid in determining the presence of hydrophytic vegetation in the Clean Water Act Section 404 wetland regulatory program and in the implementation of the swampbuster provisions of the Food Security Act. While not required by law or regulation, the Fish and Wildlife Service is making the 1996 National List available for review and comment. -

American Fern Journal 81(2]:44-62 (1991) Epidermal Morphology of the Pinnae of Angiopteris, Danaea, and Maraffia CRISTINAROLLERI,AMVIBLIA DEFERRARI, AND MAR~ADEL CARMENLAVALLE Laboratory of Botany, Museo de La Plata, Paseo del Bosque, 1900 La Plata, Argentina This is a study of adult epidermis morphology in 17 species of Angiopteris Hoffm., Danaea J. E. Smith, and Marattia Swartz. Epidermal patterns, adult stomata, indument, and idioblasts were studied. Hill and Camus (1986) made an overview of characters of some extant species of Marattiales as part of a cladistic study of extant and fossil members of the order. The epidermal characters they used were subsidiary cells of the stomata, dimensions of the stomata, walls of epidermal cells, and idioblasts. The only character of indument they included in their study was the presence or absence of scales. Rolleri et al. (1987) made the first detailed study dealing with pinna and pinnule indument in the Marattiaceae, although Holttum (1978) had made some general comments on petiole and rhizome scales of Angiopteris, illustrating two species. He suggested that Angiopteris pinna trichomes were diagnostic but needed detailed study. Rolleri et al. (1987) strongly pointed out that epidermal characters are diagnostic at the species level in the Marattiaceae and speculated on generic affinities within the Marattiales. Adult epidermis was described according to the terminology of Rolleri and Deferrari (1986) and Rolleri et al. (1987). Adult stomata were described following the criteria of Stace (1965),van Cotthem (1970, 1971),and Wilkinson (1979). In this study, is described the development of stipular buds in a population of Danaea nodosa located into a gallery forest of the Brazilian savanna. From June 2006 to July 2007 40 individuals were monitored and 13 of them presented stipular buds. The formation of stipular buds was observed in August and September 2006, a time corresponding to the end of the dry season. In only two individuals, the stipular buds evolved to ramets. An additional survey conducted in April 2008, revealed that the ramets continued to product new leaves. This study provides an important information about the reproductive strategy of the species under natural conditions, which can guide future researches with conservationist purposes to native ferns. Resumo A ocorrência de brotos estipulares em Marattiaceae tem sido observada por diferentes autores, geralmente sob condições de cultivo. Neste estudo, é descrito o desenvolvimento de brotos estipulares em uma população de Danaea nodosa localizada em uma Mata de Galeria no Cerrado brasileiro. De junho de 2006 a julho de 2007, 40 indivíduos foram monitorados e 13 destes apresentaram brotos estipulares. A formação dos brotos estipulares foi observada em agosto e setembro de 2006, período correspondente ao final da estação seca. -

Although such faunistic studies were conducted extensively in the region during the first decade of the early 20th century, there are a few new taxa, taxonomic revisions, misidentifications, and misspellings, which should be documented. We examined 1,276 species in 652 genera, 59 subfamilies, and 15 families. We propose 4 new combinations, namely Arichanna refracta Inoue, 1978 stat. nov.; Psyra matsumurai Bastelberger, 1909 stat. nov.; Olene baibarana (Matsumura, 1927) comb. nov.; and Cerynia usuguronis (Matsumura, 1927) comb. nov.. The noctuid Blepharita alpestris Chang, 1991 is regarded as a junior synonym of Mamestra brassicae (Linnaeus, 1758) (syn. nov.). The geometrids Palaseomystis falcataria (Moore, 1867 [1868]), Venusia megaspilata (Warren, 1895), and Gandaritis whitelyi (Butler, 1878) and the erebid Ericeia elongata Prout, 1929 are newly recorded in the fauna of Taiwan. -

ABSTRACT The neotropical genus Danaea is in revision and some notes on the genus are presented here. We find that the genus can be divided into three subgroups, based on morphological characters of the rhizome, stipe articulation and pinna margin serration. The tree groups are discussed and some taxonomic issues are addressed. The occurrence of bipinnate D. nodosa is reported from Jamaica, and trifoliate specimens of D. simplicifolia are reported from French Guiana. The identities of D. alata, D. jamaicensis, D. jenmanii, D. mazeana, D. media, D. nodosa, D. trifoliata and D. ulei and their synonyms are discussed. Further studies on the phylogeny, taxonomy and ecology of Danaea are needed. INTRODUCTION The genus Danaea Sm. is one of the few genera of ferns confined to the Western Hemisphere. It has been repeatedly observed that species limits within the genus are poorly understood, and that the genus is in great need of monographic study (e.g., Morton, 1951, Kramer, 1978). De Vriese & Harting (1853) monographed the Marattiaceae but excluded Danaea, which was at the time, placed in a separate family: the Danaeaceae. Underwood (1902) revised the North American species, and the Ecuadorian species were recently revised by Tuomisto and Moran (2001), but many taxonomic problems remain. -

Cbrsa Walker, 1858 is sunk as a synonym of Diomea Walker, 1858, and Btoptina petrina Butler, 1879, so far placed under Coflsa, is transferred into PaniUa Moore, 1885. Key words Diomea, Cbrsa, Panitki, Diomea Evida, Diomea jankowskii, Consa petrina, new species, synonym, South East Asia, taxonomy. Diomea rotundota Waiker, 1858 and Cbrsa iZgnicolora Walker, 1858 are the type species by monotypy of Diomea Walker, !858 and Cbrsa Walker, I858, respectively. Kobes (1983) described Zigera suvarnadvipae from Sumatra, and Sugi (1992) transferred it into Diomea in a check list of the Taiwanese Noctuidae. Sugi's (1992) treatment seems to be correct, because the male genitalia of suvarnaabipae have simple valvae with also simple harpes similar to those of D. rotunclata. As illustrated here, recently I found that suvamadvipae is a clese relative of Cbrsa iignicolora (Fig. 9), and I pointed out that Diomea and Cbrsa become synonymous with each other (Yoshimoto, 1994), The generic names Diomea and Clorsa were published in Walker's same wotk at the same date, and here as aii act ofthe first reviser I select Diomea as a valid name of this genus, of which synonymy is summarized as fo11ows.
