Coaching Spotlight Upcoming competitions Weekly Highlights While athletics at Seacrest has only been in existence since 2006, our Stingrays have put together a very rich history in a very short time. Seacrest athletes compete at the highest levels, which provides SEACREST outstanding experience and skill-development opportunities. The Seacrest athletics program provides lessons and competition that ATHLETICS: DID transfer directly to the college level. Our athletes take pride in our YOU KNOW? Stingray tradition of being exceptional both in and out of the classroom by earning multiple awards for athletic and academic excellence. Seacrest offers a variety of competitive sports for middle school and upper school athletes, and a number of opportunities for children K-5 to learn about sports and get a taste of what it means to compete and learn outside of the classroom. "My full name is Luis A. Martinez Cesareo and I'm from Dorado, Puerto Rico. I played as a Setter at college level and coached in different schools program throughout the years. Six years ago, I moved to Ocala, FL for an opportunity to coach volleyball with boys and girls and I also worked with Marion County Public schools for 4 years. My college background is in Physical Education, Secondary level. I am certified with USAV Volleyball, IMPACT certification, AAU Volleyball and CPR. Currently I work with Collier County Public Schools as a Paraprofessional." Why did you get into coaching volleyball? "I started playing at 12 years old and immediately fell in love with the sport. By the time I turned 19, I was the captain of a club travel team. My coach called me one day and told me to meet with him before practice. Basically he told me that I have the leadership and the potential to be a successful coach in the future and he will pay for my class so I could get certified as a Level 1 Coach with the Volleyball Federation of Puerto Rico. I am never going to forget my coach for believing in me and will never regret accepting the challenge of this amazing roller coaster ride as a volleyball coach." Why do you like coaching at Seacrest? "I like coaching at Seacrest because of the culture of the volleyball program and the school. The parents and staff recognize the dedication and passion that I have for the sport. The most important part is that the athletes are thankful for every moment the coaches spend with them." Anything else that you might like to add? "My philosophy is ONE TEAM, ONE FAMILY. My best accomplishment as a coach is to see young athletes grow and develop values inside and outside the court. I prefer when a player asks "Tito teach me how to play volleyball ". This sport is more than just making contact with a ball, it is discipline in how to become a better player and how to overcome different obstacles to achieve goals."
