Dyfed Invertebrate Group Has Received Amongst Entomologists Nationwide and There Are Now Almost One Hundred Subscribers to the Newsletter
DYFED INVERTEBRATE GROUP NEWSLETTER N°. 2 June 1986 We have been gratified by the reception that the formation of the Dyfed Invertebrate Group has received amongst entomologists nationwide and there are now almost one hundred subscribers to the Newsletter. This is a sound base upon which to establish our contribution to invertebrate conservation in west Wales and the specialists involved cover a very wide range of groups. With the summer now upon us (or so I'm reliably informed) the impetus should be there for us all to get out 'in the field' and add to our knowledge of the distribution and ecological requirements of the county fauna. Do remember to send in your records to the relevant county recorders and keep us informed of any interesting observations. The Newsletter is here to ensure that significant records and accounts of methodical surveys find their way in to print. We would welcome more feed-back from subscribers, both in the form of articles for the Newsletter and suggestions for the improvement of DIG - do drop us a line from time to time and tell us how your invertebrate work is progressing. Which brings me to the thorny problem of subscriptions! The DIG Newsletter is produced entirely through the kindness of NCC Dyfed-Powys in allowing us access to secretarial and photo-copying facilities. However, we would appreciate assistance with postage and hence the subscription for 1986 will be four First Class Stamps. Please send your 'subscription' to the Editor during the course of the summer. We regret that the September issue of the Newsletter will not be sent to members who have not forwarded their subscription in time. -

Family Resilience Consultation – Phase 1
Family Resilience Consultation – Phase 1, Children’s Centres https://www.surreysays.co.uk/csf/family-resilience-childrens-centres/ Please use the notes below as a guide to help you complete the consultation. If you would like to talk more, then pop into our open sessions on • Monday 19th November 1pm – 2pm at West Street, Dorking, • Tuesday 20th November 11am – 12pm at Goodwyns Road, Dorking • Monday 26th November – 10am – 11am at Aperdale Road, Leatherhead • Wednesday 28th November – 10am – 11am at Aperdale Road, Leatherhead The consultation takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. QA – Are you responding on behalf of an organisation or as someone who lives, works or studies in Surrey? Q1a – Do you have any comments on the new family resilience approach? Please write your response in the box below (you only have 200 words to use in this section, so please consider carefully your response) You may want to consider these issues before you respond: • Can all families in need be supported on the large cut in budget Surrey suggest? • What about families in need of support who live a long way from a centre? • Less groups and universal sessions will increase isolation and may harm community cohesion • Volunteers may not offer the same level of service as Children’s centre staff • The Dorking site is already busy. Is there space to do all the work with health and partners that is needed? • Where will families go if the Stay and Play groups close? • Will the same advice and support be available from other groups locally? • Who will do all the early work with new Mums and young babies when Health visiting services are also being cut back? • Reducing universal sessions risks missing an opportunity to support families at an early stage in a child’s life, before issues escalate. -

2019 One Design Classes and Sailor Survey
2019 One Design Classes and Sailor Survey [email protected] One Design Classes and Sailor Survey One Design sailing is a critical and fundamental part of our sport. In late October 2019, US Sailing put together a survey for One Design class associations and sailors to see how we can better serve this important constituency. The survey was sent via email, as a link placed on our website and through other USSA Social media channels. The survey was sent to our US Sailing members, class associations and organizations, and made available to any constituent that noted One-Design sailing in their profile. Some interesting observations: • Answers are based on respondents’ perception of or actual experience with US Sailing. • 623 unique comments were received from survey respondents and grouped into “Response Types” for sorting purposes • When reviewing data, please note that “OTHER” Comments are as equally important as those called out in a specific area, like Insurance, Administration, etc. • The majority of respondents are currently or have been members of US Sailing for more than 5 years, and many sail in multiple One-Design classes • About 1/5 of the OD respondents serve(d) as an officer of their primary OD class; 80% were owner/drivers of their primary OD class; and more than 60% were members of their primary OD class association. • Respondents to the survey were most highly concentrated on the East and West coasts, followed by the Mid- West and Texas – though we did have representation from 42 states, plus Puerto Rico and Canada. • Most respondents were male. -
