Artist/Producer Big Swede to Release First Single with New All Star Rock Project 'Refurbished' 2014-08-19 09:44 CEST Artist/Producer Big Swede To Release First Single With New All Star Rock Project ‘Refurbished’ Los Angeles, CA, August 19th, 2014 – Producer/artist Big Swede is releasing the first single with his all star rock project “Refurbished”, on August 19th, 2014. The track is called “Show Up For The Showdown” and is the first from the upcoming full length “Refurbished” album “Only Want The Best”, to be released September 23rd. The album features Rod Jackson (Slash’s Snakepit), Michael Devin (Whitesnake), Jeff Scott Soto (Yngwie Malmsteen) and Reeves Gabrels (David Bowie), among others. “No matter who you are, where you live or work, you always have to show up for the showdown, everyday. I was going for a straight ahead, no thrills, rock vibe, featuring some of my friends who I have great respect for. The first single is a straight up rocker and a nice introduction to the rest of the record,” says Big Swede. The album consists of 13 tracks with a total of 17 guests. Inspiration for the record was drawn from Big Swede’s many years living in Los Angeles. Most of it was recorded at Big Swede Studios, located in downtown Los Angeles, except for a few parts that were added in Stockholm, Rio and London. “All these guests have been in such a variety of situations before. I tried to do something different than what you normally would expect. I was refurbishing them,” laughs Big Swede. Members/guests: Big Swede, Reeves Gabrels (David Bowie, Tin Machine), Howie Simon (Alcatrazz, Talisman), Rod Jackson (Slash's Snakepit), Johnny Griparic (Slash's Snakepit, Richie Kotzen), Mark Boals (Yngwie Malmsteen, Uli Jon Roth), Michael Devin (Whitesnake, Lynch Mob, Kenny Wayne Shepherd), Paul Ill (Pink, James Blunt, Christina Aguilera), Goran Edman (Yngwie Malmsteen, John Norum), Mats Leven (Yngwie Malmsteen, Therion), Laura V Bustillos (LA Velvet), Chris Hollywood (The Paramedic, In The Name Of, Black Veil Brides), Bjorn Englen (Yngwie Malmsteen, Tony MacAlpine, Soul Sign), Greg Hampton (Alice Cooper, Lita Ford, Ron Wood), David Keckhut (Made N America), Gus Monsanto (Adagio, Revolution Renaissance), Jeff Scott Soto (Journey, Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen), Natalia Borowsky. PERFORMED IDENTITIES: HEAVY METAL MUSICIANS BETWEEN 1984 AND 1991 Bradley C. Klypchak A Dissertation Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY May 2007 Committee: Dr. Jeffrey A. Brown, Advisor Dr. John Makay Graduate Faculty Representative Dr. Ron E. Shields Dr. Don McQuarie © 2007 Bradley C. Klypchak All Rights Reserved iii ABSTRACT Dr. Jeffrey A. Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized.

Instructions: Read the text carefully and answer the questions below. Yngwie J. Malmsteen Yngwie Johann Malmsteen (born Lars Johann Yngve Lannerbäck, June 30, 1963) is a Swedish guitarist, composer and bandleader. Widely recognized as a virtuoso, Malmsteen achieved widespread acclaim in the 1980s due to his technical proficiency and his pioneering neo-classical metal. Guitar One magazine rated him the third fastest guitar shredder in the world after Michael Angelo Batio and Chris Impellitteri. Born into a musical family in Stockholm, Yngwie was the youngest child in the family. At an early age, he showed little interest in music. It wasn't until September 18, 1970 when at age seven he saw a TV special on the death of Jimi Hendrix that Malmsteen became obsessed with the guitar. To quote his official website, "The day Jimi Hendrix died, the guitar-playing Yngwie was born". He claims his first name in Swedish means "young Viking chief". Actually, it is a variation of Yngvi, who founded the House of Yngling, which is the oldest known Swedish dynasty. Malmsteen was in his teens when he first encountered the music of the 19th- José Ramón Montero Del Angel | Universidad Veracruzana century violin virtuoso Niccolò Paganini, whom he cites as his biggest classical influence. It has been rumoured that Yngwie believes himself to be the reincarnation of the temperamental, often criticized, and widely misunderstood violinist from Genoa. Through his emulation of Paganini concerto pieces on guitar, Malmsteen developed a prodigious technical fluency.

There are few artists whose names are synonymous with one instrument and how it's played in service to an entire genre. Utter the phrase, "young blues rock guitarist," within earshot of anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the modern musical vanguard and the first name they are most likely to respond with will be Kenny Wayne Shepherd. The Louisiana born axeman and songsmith has sold millions of albums and thrown singles into the Top 10 while shining a light on the rich blues of the past and forging ahead with his own modern twist on a classic sound that he has embodied since his teens. • Makes It Easy to Find Manuals Online!
Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine Photo © Jay Banbury From Jim Marshall I am really pleased that you have chosen this 1959RR Randy Rhoads Signature Series Super Lead 100W head. It is only the fourth signature amplifier that we have produced and I feel it is a great addition to this select range. I first met Randy when he came to the factory in January 1980. He had not long ago joined Ozzy Osbourne and they were working on their first album. He came here knowing exactly what he was looking for, he just needed to find the amplifier that was going to be capable of delivering the power, the tone, and the reliability that he wanted, but was also in keeping with the image that he was to be recognised by. Randy almost found everything he was searching for in a standard 1959 head, but the tone was not quite right. He spent some time with my Service Manager, explaining the slight difference he was looking for, and after a few trials we were able to fit a modification which made the subtle change to the standard tone of the 1959. Randy left the factory to proudly stand in front of his white Marshall stack for all of his hugely successful, but sadly too brief career with Ozzy Osbourne. In this time the legendary guitarist could be seen by thousands of fans, performing in front of his Marshall stack – a sight to behold and a triumphant assault on the ears. Our design team have spent many hours investigating the original Randy Rhoads amplifier, speaking to the Randy Rhoads family, talking to people who knew Randy and heard him play, and talking to the Service Manager who was at the factory when Randy came in and made the modification to the amplifier.

Brixworth and District Newsletter Learn, laugh, live Registered Charity No 1178196 Issue 76 August 2021 THE BIG DEBATE – WHO IS THE GREATEST GUITARIST With so many talented and accomplished musicians using the guitar as their instrument of choice, from the early bluesmen to modern-day shredders and rockers, it is inevitable that no two-people will choose the same guitarist as their “greatest guitarist of all time”. It would be very easy for me to say that, in my opinion, my vote would go to …………. However, that is not my intention. Instead, this month’s musical journey may, hopefully, shine some light on a few players with whom you might not be too familiar, and who you might like to give a further look and listen to after this. Although a guitar is just a guitar, the sounds that they make in the hands of the ‘top players’ can be very different, as I will endeavour to demonstrate in this month’s randomly ordered selection. We start off with a player who is technically perfect, and whom we saw playing the piano in an earlier musical edition of the newsletter. That is ERIC JOHNSON, who is way above the technical skills of the more well-known Eric Clapton. The track I have selected really does demonstrate his virtuosity on the 6-string Fender Stratocaster, the tonal quality and changes are superb and a delight on the ears - Eric Johnson - Trail of Tears ‘Live 1988’ - YouTube Jazzing it up a bit, we have Swedish showman YNGWIE (Ing-Vay) MALMSTEEN, whose concert and album playlists includes classical pieces from Paganini, Vivaldi, Bach, etc.

  • It's Still Rock 'N' Roll to Him
Published in the Home News Tribune 10/13/02 Right, keyboardist David Rosenthal of Iselin tunes up for a recent Billy Joel- Elton John concert at Continental Airlines Arena It's still rock 'n' roll to him By PAUL FRANKLIN Photos by Alexandra Pais STAFF WRITER Special to the Home News Tribune David Rosenthal was recently awarded a Distinguished Alumni Award for "Outstanding Achievements in Contemporary Music" following a lecture at Berklee College of Music in Boston. That's what happens when you're part of Billy Joel's band and have toured the world nine times as a keyboard player. That's what happens when you're performing with Enrique Iglesias and Cyndi Lauper. And that's what happens when you appear on "Late Night With David Letterman," "Saturday Night Live" and MTV. But when the 41-year-old talks music in his Iselin basement, he also mentions being inducted last spring into the Hall of Honor at J.P. Stevens High School. Clearly not his biggest accomplishment, but this guy hasn't forgotten his roots. Whether entertaining crowds in Tokyo, Brazil or Boston, Rosenthal remains a Jersey guy. Not only that, he remains a humble guy. Considering his accomplishments, that's not exactly a walk through Roosevelt Park. Rosenthal, who grew up in Edison, completes a four-week tour with Joel today at Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford. In his spare time recently, he has been scoring and arranging keyboard parts and synthesizer programming for the Broadway musical "Movin' Out," a show based on 26 of Joel's songs that opens Oct.

  • Aquiles Priester – Those Who Appreciate My Work Expect Some Kind of Didactic Material to Be Released from Time to Time
    1. In your busy life as a musician you've found time to realize methods and DVDs. What prompted you to dedicate time to their achievement? Aquiles Priester – Those who appreciate my work expect some kind of didactic material to be released from time to time. I’m in no hurry to do many things so as to have a vast catalogue. My greatest concern is to maintain a high level of quality in everything I do. Come to think of it, free time is something that doesn’t exist, but if you want to go ahead in your care er, you have to make time to realize the things that are important and at the right time. 2. Your last instructional DVD (The Infallible Reason Of My Freak Drumming), is very practical with regard to the division of chapters. Did you choose this subdivision by yourself? Aquiles – Yes, I produced the DVD myself and it was based on things that I always studied. Everything I learned with Kiko Freitas at the time when I studied with him is included in the DVD. This goes beyond the exercises themselves because I’m talking about the conception of the work. Many people comment that the way in which the DVD is presented is very good and that makes me very happy. This DVD was released worldwide by Mel Bay Publishing and in 2011 was considered 3rd best instructional DVD of the year according to readers of Modern Drummer magazine . 3. How long did it take to complete it? Aquiles – I did a long pre-production, almost 15 days recording and rehearsing the whole script during 8 hours daily alone on a farm.
