The Coyotes, 10/17 VB at Eastern Oregon 7 p.m. PT returning three starters from a 28-6 team that won both the 2013-14 CCC 10/18 XC at Inland Empire Invite 10 a.m. PT regular-season and tournament titles, elevated to No. 2 in the NAIA Division II WSOC vs. Evergreen Noon Top-25 Poll, and advanced to the NAIA Division II National Championships, are FB at Rocky Mountain 1 p.m. picked to win the crown for the first time since 2009. C of I returns All-CCC MSOC vs. Northwest Christian 3 p.m. guard Demetrius Perkins, CCC Defensive Player of the Year Sydney Donaldson, SWIM at Mills Invitational All Day starting point-guard Josh Wilson, shooting guard Jordan O’Byrne and big-man 10/19 SWIM Dual at Mills College 11 a.m. Joe Vaz – while adding a pair of key NCAA Division I transfers in Utah's Marko Kovacevik and Boise State's Joey Nebecker. Southern Oregon was picked Upcoming Events second by the coaches – and returns All-America forward Eric Thompson, while Concordia, Oregon Tech, and Northwest Christian round out the Top-5. WSOC at Northwest Christian 1 p.m. PT MSOC vs. Northwest (at Brothers) 3 p.m. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PICKED THIRD BY COACHES: The C of I was picked to VB at Warner Pacific 3 p.m. PT finish third by the CCC coaches', as the 2014-15 CCC Women's Basketball 10/31 MBB vs. Walla Walla (at EOU) 2 p.m. PT Preseason Poll was released Monday morning by the league office. The Lady Yotes, under the direction of first-year head coach Mark Owen, received 75 11/3-4 GOLF at Walla Walla Invite 9 a.m. PT voter points from the 10 CCC coaches, including one first-place vote, finishing 11/7 WBB at Montana Tech 4 p.m. behind Southern Oregon and Eastern Oregon. C of I is coming off a 16-12 11/8 XC at CCC Championships 10:30 a.m. PT overall record and a trip to the semifinals of the CCC Tournament. The Lady Yotes return starting guards Elisha Hensey and Aleah Lowber, but need to replace three starters, including All-Americans Chakala Carthen and Erica Martinez. The Yotes open the 2014-15 season the first weekend of November in Montana. Tailgating begins at 9 a.m. (four hours prior to kickoff). 12/20 NAIA FCS (Final) TBA MOST WINS SINCE: With four victories this season, it is the most wins by a Coyote team since 1974, HOME GAMES IN BOLD CAPS when C of I finished the year 4-5. The Yotes have not had a winning season since 1969, as C of I * Frontier Conference Game ended the campaign with a 5-4 record. The 11 games on C of I’s schedule is the most in program history – as the Yotes played 10 games in a season in 1935, 1941, 1946, 1948, 1955, 1957, 1958, and 1960. Frontier Conference Standings A HOMECOMING SUCCESS: Three games into the 2014 season and the Coyotes continue to draw well School Frontier Overall at the gate, averaging 4,892 fans per game – tops in the Frontier Conference and among the top Southern Oregon 5-0 6-0 attended games in the NAIA. C of I has two crowds (vs. Montana Western and MSU-Northern that Carroll 4-1 4-1 were larger than two crowds at Idaho State this season and would rank No. 10 (of 242) among NCAA Division III teams, No. 33 (of 170) in the NCAA Division II, and No. 88 (of 130) amongst NCAA FCS College of Idaho 3-2 4-2 teams. Eastern Oregon 3-2 4-2 Rocky Mountain 3-2 4-2 FULLBACK TO TAILBACK TO HERO: With injuries limiting the action of C of I’s top two tailbacks, the Montana Western 2-4 2-5 Yotes moved fullback Ryan Texeira (Livermore, Calif. / Chabot CC) to the featured back position. The Montana Tech 1-5 1-5 move paid off for the C of I, as the junior transfer rushed for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the 35-31 win over MSU-Northern on Saturday. Texeria made the most of his first carry in a Coyote Montana State-Northern 0-5 1-5 uniform, rushing 28 yards for the opening touchdown on the second play of the game. He closed out the day with the go-ahead score from three yards out in the final minute of action. Last Week’s Scores Rocky Mountain 45, Montana Tech 39 (OT) DOING IT ALL: It wasn’t just on offense that Ryan Texeira exceled on Saturday, he was also a stalwart College of Idaho 35, MSU-Northern 31 on special teams, serving on the punt, extra point, and kickoff teams. Texeira also filled in as the Southern Oregon 31, Montana Western 6 kickoff specialist due to an injury to top kicker Luke Taylor (Tumwater, Wash.
