Taiwanese cuisine gives South African Parliamentarians full of energy to continue their charity run.

Solly Malatsi, South African Member of Parliament and Makashule Ga- na, Member of Gauteng Legislature, embarked on a 500km charity run from 7 August for 14 days from Soweto, Gauteng to Tzaneen, Limpopo. The two parliamentarians will be running to raise R500,000 to purchase school uniforms, sanitary towels and learning materials for rural schools in Limpopo.

After Malatsi and Gana finished the 35km run on the fourth day of the journey near Pretoria, Representative Anthony Ho received them at the office with Taiwanese cuisine including Taiwanese lunchbox, braised pork rice and bubble tea to give them full energy.

Representative Ho and his colleague also prepared a birthday cake and sang birthday song together to celebrate Gana’s birthday on 11 August.

Representative Ho gave the runners his best wishes for their charity run.

Representative Robert Seraki Matsebe, Former South African Representative to Taiwan and an old and close friend of many, has ended his tour of duty in Taiwan and returned to South Africa. Taiwan Representative Anthony Ho hosted a luncheon at his resi- dence to welcome Representative Matsebe’s return.

Some of the most famous Taiwanese cuisine were served at the luncheon, in- cluding drunken chicken, salt and pepper calamari, beef noodle soup and green bean cake. The familiar Taiwanese favor brought back the wonderful memories in Taiwan to Representative Matsebe and made him miss Taiwan and his Taiwanese friends more.

Taiwan Representative Anthony Ho received Mr. Thamsanqa Mabhena, South African Member of Parlia- ment at the office on August 6, 2021. Representative Ho discussed with Mr. Mabhena on the issues of Covid-19 pre- vention and control, post-pandemic economic recovery, and Taiwan’s participation in international organizations.

He also presented Taiwanese specialties, including Kavalan whiskey, Taiwanese lunch box and bubble tea to share the true Taiwan favor with Mr. Mabhena. ISSUE 8
