Welcome to yet another issue of MUSE, where we bring you the hottest new season buys, the trends to know now, and what has kept us busy and charitable over the past year.

Throughout 2016, AlOthman celebrated 60 years of fashion. It’s a milestone we are very proud of. This achievement would not have been possible without the support of our clients, our members, and the communities where we live and work, namely Kuwait, Bahrain, and London. To show our appreciation for many years of support, our yearlong company-wide celebration focused on giving back to the communities where we live and work.

The highlight of our 60th Anniversary celebrations was launching AlOthman Scholarship, a fashion-based scholarship with Central Saint Martins, part of the University of the Arts London and one of the world’s most prestigious art and design schools. The Scholarship, facilitated by LOYAC, a Kuwait-based non-profit organization working towards the overall development of the youth, will help nurture the rising design stars of tomorrow, forge new links with emerging Middle Eastern designers, and commemorate AlOthman’s legacy by giving back to the community.

Our charitable initiatives, highlighted in this issue of MUSE, did not end with 2016, we will continue to give back to this loving community, so stay tuned for more in 2017.

And in other news, you might have already heard of our exciting new partnership with the56.com - a global by-invitation-only online shopping platform dedicated to the world’s most glamorous evening gowns. For the very first time, clients living outside of Kuwait and Bahrain will be able to shop our sensational range of evening gowns by the biggest names in fashion, all with the help of a professional team of experienced online stylists.

That’s all for now. We hope this year will bring lots of love, joy, and peace throughout the globe. Now enjoy reading MUSE, your ultimate passport to summer style. Helmut Lang DECONSTRUCTED

Today’s runway is inspired by the unique strength of those strong women that I am so lucky to know–the Balmain women. In particular, styles channel the serene, confident and modern manner in which they face life. Those women never shy away from showing their softer side, sure in the knowledge that there’s no longer any need to shout. For they’ve already proven themselves— and an honest femininity forms an essential part of their impressive force. Like them, today’s runway has stripped back all nonessential armor, allowing for a clear focus on a beautiful lightness and ease. Climbing ramage, camellias, gardenias, anemones, peonies, lilies of the valley; the list of floral motifs in Giambattista Valli’s new collection is exhaustive enough to intimidate even the most seasoned of gardeners, especially given that his designs often come with 3-D petal embellishments that are not far removed from the real thing. Flowers have always been in the Roman-born designer’s wheelhouse, and that straightforward sense of pretty is very much at the roots of his brand, too. The pick of the bunch this time around included a long micro daisy-sprigged lace dress - a nice update on the LWDs that have dominated lately - and a floor-sweeping empire line number printed with roses and finished with a Victorian-style lacy high collar, a flattering red carpet–appropriate silhouette that is rapidly becoming a signature.

Staying true to the brand’s DNA, the Marissa Webb Resort and Spring 2017 collections represent a continued exploration of contrast. She’s subtly impactful - all details are considered, but the overall look still feels easy.

Striking a balance between natural and engineered, SS17 explores the effects of Maticevski’s potential to enhance and manipulate organic, pre-existing beauty. Dressed in soft and supple technical fabrications, the SS17 woman envelops herself in curved shapes that caress the edges of her physical self. Sensual and indulgent, fabric is manipulated in generous volumes.

This year Mira Mikati creates an island where you never grow up, where the summer never ends, where dreams are born and where time is never planned!

It’s like a Mira Mikati meets Mr. Peter Pan, her all time hero ... You can find the very wise words of Pan throughout the entire collection (never grow up, what if I fall what if you fly, never say goodbye ....) Together, with some little happy monsters, colorful stars and island elements .. it’s the interpretation of the island of her dreams ... As a child she always dreamed of being rescued by Peter Pan :)

This season, she collaborates with one of her favorite artists “Jack Pierson”, where she borrows the “Teenage Runway “ word piece installation and where the TeenAge runs away to a better place, a place where dreams do come true.

For Spring/ Summer17, Monique Lhuillier materializes a surreal fairytale haunted by the last dance, as music lingers with intent and mischief perfumes the air. This season’s sophisticate is never the first to arrive, but always the first to be noticed.

Monse is a fresh force in modern "RTW inspired by the strong woman who dares to express herself and appreciates the unexpected. This woman, our muse, should feel easily put together in our pieces - as if it took her five minutes to get ready. Combining structure and discreet finishes with an effortless hand, our clothes reflect all that she is in life. " -Monse

Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos celebrate the tropical baroque for spring summer 2017, in a sensual escape through the Andes to where the forest meets the sea. From the hot colours of Barragán to the soft hues of sun-bleached frescos, a riotous palette reflects optimistic stories from the Latin continent.

For the resort 2017 "collection, i was inspired after seeing an exhibition of Brice Marden’s recent paintings at Matthew Marks gallery in los angeles. The gallery was designed by Ellsworth Kelly and seeing Marden’s work there i considered the connections between them. These artists work with both monotone and rainbow palettes testing the strictures of minimalism. -Rosetta Getty"

Discovering New Orleans – the sensual heat, hot-house flowers, the vibrant, soulful mix of cultures and people. Layers of history, memories, the music, the smells, the tastes, the languages and the rituals of a city surviving centuries of change were all powerfully evocative sources of inspiration for our summer collection.
