The Editors have the pleasure of issuing a second volume of Cornish Parish Registers , containing the marriages of 1 8 1 2 eight parishes complete to . These parishes have been selected from both the eastern and western parts of the county in the hope that thereby the interest in the work might be more widely diff used . This series represents the fi rst systematic attempt to supply all classes in Cornwall i with material for trac ng family history , and the Editors would especially emphasize the need there is for further support amongst Cornishmen to enable them to issue with suffi cient rapidity to complete all the parishes in the county - within a reasonable limit of time . Already twenty three parishes have been printed leaving about one hundred and no thirty eight yet to be done . There is reason why there should not be issued at least three volumes annually , meaning or . some thirty forty parishes , a year Then it would be possible to complete the whole county within three or four . s to years The boon that thi would be all Cornishmen , w ho are interested either in their family history , or in that of ‘ Cornwall generally , can easily be imagined . The Editors therefore beg to make an earnest call to help both a s subscribers and transcribers . To the present subscribers they i especially appeal to make the series more W dely known . They must bear in mind that it is volunteer assistance only which renders it even possible to print these registers at all . Increasing interest is now taken in genealogy and this must continue . It may be regarded as a duty to preserve fi r e or c from destruction by , theft , forgery , these an ient records which concern all Cornishmen Whether at home , in America , or in the English Colonies . Thanks are due to the parochial clergy who have kindly allowed the registers to be printed . Their names are mentioned under the several parishes . Further , the reader is greatly indebted to Mr . W . H . of w ho L Shadwell , Bodmin Probate Registry , has allowed these Registers to be collated with the Transcripts of under his care , thus adding largely to the value this volume . The reader must remember that these extracts are not “ fi legal evidence , and that for certi cates application must of . be made to the clergy in charge the registers As before , the volume is issued without an index . In due course the i Editors hope to ssue one general index to the Whole county , but , for the present the most urgent need is to get the registers into print . une 1 02 j , 9 . ¢ontenta PARISH . Summary of what is a rather large chart: BILLING update, December 2018. The rest of the family successfully finished their 1000 National Archives document R/5832 has a supposed date of 24 April 1512; but is This outline sets out the BILLING alias TRELAWDER family connections in Cornwall THIS LINE IS SHOWN HERE IN PURPLE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE AS SET OUT IN 1874 BY THE HARLEIAN piece jigsaw puzzle; but sadly we have not been so successful in joining together the many over two hundred years. It is unusual to see an alias - our modern equivalent being the SOCIETY AND USED BY SIR JOHN MACLEAN IN HIS RESEARCH. endorsed with a note by C.G.. Henderson “This deed was forged about 17 Eliz. OTHER BRANCHES OF THE FAMILY STAYED IN ST MINVER AND IN THE ST BREOCK / EGLOSHAYLE AREA. ST TUDY LINE LEFT In many cases, no connections are attempted. At other times links have been suggested. THESE WERE NOT CHRONICLED, BUT WE MAY ASSUME THAT RICHARD, AT ST MINVER IN 1523, AND As mentioned earlier, the 1874 book on the Cornwall Visitations by the Harleian Society, The spelling of TRELAWDER does vary, sometimes TRELODER or TRELOTHER etc.

ARCHITECTURE, POWER, AND POVERTY Emergence of the Union Workhouse Apparatus in the Early Nineteenth-Century England A Thesis Presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of Cornell University in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Master of Arts by Gökhan Kodalak January 2015 2015, Gökhan Kodalak ABSTRACT This essay is about the interaction of architecture, power, and poverty. It is about the formative process of the union workhouse apparatus in the early nineteenth-century England, which is defined as a tripartite combination of institutional, architectural, and everyday mechanisms consisting of: legislators, official Poor Law discourse, and administrative networks; architects, workhouse buildings, and their reception in professional journals and popular media; and paupers, their everyday interactions, and ways of self-expression such as workhouse ward graffiti. A cross-scalar research is utilized throughout the essay to explore how the union workhouse apparatus came to be, how it disseminated in such a dramatic speed throughout the entire nation, how it shaped the treatment of pauperism as an experiment for the modern body-politic through the peculiar machinery of architecture, and how it functioned in local instances following the case study of Andover union workhouse.
