His seemingly innocent adventure stories secured for Him a place in literary history. Yet, the universality of His characters and their exploits continue to disturb many of society's sensibilities. His books are often the focus of the "moral majorities" attempts at censorship. After all, a juvenile delinquent coupled with a slave (both considered by the then "moral majority" as "low-life") are not the type of people we normally expect or want to make us aware of our own social inadequacies and moral weaknesses.
