Munis Entomology & Zoology, 11 (2): 682-690] ABSTRACT: This work is presented a comparative list of the leaf beetles of the provinces in Marmara Region of Turkey, excluding Bruchinae. All known taxa from the provinces in Marmara Region of Turkey and thereby European Turkey are given in the present text. KEY WORDS: Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, European Turkey, Marmara Region, Turkey Any direct research on leaf beetles in Marmara Region of Turkey is not present. Therefore fauna of leaf beetles in Marmara Region of Turkey is not sufficiently known. Chiefly, a complete faunistic information about all the leaf beetle taxa established in European Turkey in Marmara Region of Turkey was firstly published by Löbl & Smetana (2010) in their Palaearctic catalogue of Chrysomeloidea. Then, an important study titled “Checklist of leaf beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) of Turkey, excluding Bruchinae” was published by Ekiz et al. (2013). Later works were published by Özdikmen (2014a,b,c), Özdikmen & Kaya (2014), Özdikmen & Mercan (2014), Özdikmen & Cihan (2014), Özdikmen & Özbek (2014), Özdikmen & Kavak (2014) and Özdikmen & Topcu (2014). Although the mentioned studies helped to determine the list of leaf beetles from the provinces in Marmara Region of Turkey, the list needs further corrections to be fully and correctly realized. -

Ten species, Chrysolina aurichalcea with three subspecies, Ch. eurina, Ch. schatzmayri, Ch. gensanensis, Ch. quadrangulata, Ch. lineigera, Ch. lineella, Ch. relucens and two new species: Ch. neglecta (Khabarovsk Terr. and Primorski Krai) and Ch. pala (Primorski Krai), are included in the subgenus Anopachys herewith. Type specimens of eleven taxa belonging to Anopachys are examined. Having examined the type of Chrysomorpha quadrangulata, which has been suppressed as a synonym of Ch. aurichalcea, I have concluded that Ch. quadrangulata is a good species. Intraspecific variation of Ch. aurichalcea is studied in detail on the basis of material from the whole area. Some biological data are given. Twelve taxa are excluded from the subgenus Anopachys. Abstract Species of the subtribe Oedionychina not only have a highly uniform diploid number of 2n = 22 (20+X+y) but have the karyotypic peculiarity of possessing extremely large sex chromosomes. We analyzed Paranaita opima embryos and gonadal cells to determine their diploid number, chromosomal morphology, type of sex determination system, consti- tutive heterochromatin pattern and which chromosomes bear nucleolus organizer regions (NORs). The diploid num- ber of P. opima was 2n = 22 (20+XY/XX) with all chromosomes being metacentric. Chromosome pair 6 showed an interstitial secondary constriction on the short arm. The C-banding technique revealed centromeric constitutive heterochromatin in all chromosomes, which, in pair 6, extended up to the secondary constriction of the short arm, ad- ditional C-bands also being present on the Y chromosome. Silver nitrate nucleolar organizer region (Ag-NOR) stain- ing showed NORs on the secondary constriction of pair 6. Fluorochrome analysis with chromomycin A3 (CMA3), 4’-6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) and the distamycin A (DA) counterstain showed that the short arm of chromo- some pair 6 exhibited a GC-rich block extending from the proximal to the median region, including part of the second- ary constriction. -

Dartmoor Zoo Bioplan Information and data compiled by Seb Crichton Researcher at Dartmoor Zoo 1 Invertebrate Bioplan Park map with highlighted sample areas Introduction Around the Dartmoor Zoo site there are many areas which have been left undisturbed with little to no input from zoo staff. This has led to many areas having a great deal of biodiversity within them, as well as having some areas with a lack of pre existing diversity. Prior to the production of this bio plan the diversity was tested in each of the highlighted areas on the map above. This section will outline the problems and lack of problems in some areas and will hopefully suggest solutions and measures to put in place to protect and encourage biodiversity. The hope is that this information will help improve the diversity of invertebrates and with it increase the overall diversity around the park, as invertebrates can be considered a key species to the regulation of most ecosystems. Issues 2 Across the park there are varying levels of diversity in the areas which have been left untouched, with some areas housing species that are not found elsewhere in the park. For example, out of all the 2,443 individuals identified only one Violet Ground Beetle (Carabus violaceus) and only one Chrysolina Bankii (ground beetle) were captured in area 5. However, some areas are very much lacking in diversity and were dominated by one group of invertebrates, for example area 3 was heavily dominated by species of ground beetle (Carabidae). It is an obvious assumption to make that soon the zoo will be planning new developments and will be both adding to and improving the site.
