CM TO INAUGURATE GRADE SEPARATOR AT DABOLIM AIRPORT TOMORROW Panaji : May 25, 2020 Jyaistha 4, 1942 Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (GSIDC) has completed the prestigious work of “Grade Separator at Dabolim Airport which will be inaugurated and opened for public use on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 10:00 am at the hands of Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, in the distinguished presence of Minister for Transport, Shri.Mauvin H. Godinho, Minister for Social welfare, Shri. Milind Sagun Naik, Minister for Public Works Department, Shri. Deepak Prabhu Pauskar, MLA of Cortalim, Smt. Alina Saldanha, MLA of Vasco-Da- Gama, Shri. Jose Luis Carlos Almeida, Vice Chairman, GSIDC & MLA of Mapusa,Shri. Joshua Peter De Souza, Chief Secretary, Shri. Parimal Rai, IAS, Airport Director, Goa International Airport, Shri. Gagan Malik, and other dignitaries. GSIDC, under the visionary guidance and dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, is leading the way in building quality infrastructure for the State of Goa. The newly constructed Grade Separator consists of two U-shaped Flyovers one towards Verna and the other towards Vasco side of the Goa International Airport at Dabolim. This was the need of the hour considering the massive traffic movement from all sides of Goa, on the roads leading to Dabolim airport, especially during peak hours of the flight movement, eventually resulting into traffic congestion near the airport. These two newly constructed flyovers along with the slip roads will facilitate smooth traffic movement towards and away from the airport and will avoid traffic congestion near the airport. Total length of the flyover towards Verna is 686.74 m, including two approach roads from two ends of this flyover. Total length of the flyover towards Vasco is 579.34 m, including two approach roads from two ends of this flyover. In addition to the two flyovers, two slip roads of 7.5m carriageway width has been constructed towards Verna and one slip road of 7.5m carriageway width has been constructed towards Vasco which will carry dedicated traffic in and out of the airport. Total cost of the project is Rs.41,79,69,000.00. Currently, GSIDC is in the process of building Roads, Bridges, Hospitals, Libraries, Stadiums, Jetties, Bus Stands, Ravindra Bhavans, Swimming Pools, Market Complexes, holistic development of cities, etc. DI/NB/JA/PP/SSP/2020/32 -- DIRECTORATE OF INFORMATION AND PUBLICITY. Until 1961, the airport served as the main hub of the Portuguese India's airline TAIP (Transportes Aéreos da Índia Portuguesa). In April 1962, it was occupied by the Indian Navy's air wing when Major General K.P. Candeth, who had led the successful military operation into Goa, "handed over" the airport to the Indian Navy before relinquishing charge as its military governor to a Lieutenant Governor of the then Union Territory of Goa, Daman and Diu in June 1962. In 2006, the Indian Civil Aviation Ministry announced a plan to upgrade Dabolim Airport. This involved constructing a new international passenger terminal (after converting the existing one to domestic) and adding several more aircraft stands.

Indigo and Air India-- on Wednesday Announced
1 Revue de presse février 2020 The only two Indian carriers that fly to China -- IndiGo and Air India-- on Wednesday announced suspension of most of their flights to that country, while India has requested China for permission to operate two flights to bring back its nationals from Hubei province which has been sealed after the deadly coronavirus outbreak. A fresh travel advisory asking people to refrain from travelling to China has been issued by the Union government which has ramped up screening across airports, ports and borders, as the virus spread to at least 17 countries. No case of the novel coronavirus has been detected in India, though hundreds of people remain under observation in many states including as many as 806 in Kerala, according to officials. With several airlines based in Asia, North America and Europe restricting operations to the region, the Indian carriers too followed suit. The country's largest airline IndiGo said it has suspended its flights on Bengaluru-Hong Kong route from February 1 and on the Delhi-Chengdu route from February 1 to 20. Similarly, state-run Air India is suspending its flights on Delhi-Shanghai route from January 31 to February 14 and reducing the frequency on Delhi-Hong Kong route to thrice-weekly only in the same time period. IndiGo will, for now, continue to operate the Kolkata-Guangzhou flight which it is "monitoring on a daily basis". The crew of the two airlines working on flights connecting India with South East Asian countries have been asked to wear N95 masks on ground and take other precautions like not visiting public places.

Other options being considered include a Thames Estuary airport in Kent. The major feasibility study has been commissioned by a consortium of British businesses, which is expected to reveal itself within weeks and is understood to have started talks with Chinese sovereign wealth funds over funding the airport.
