PCI #1 EXAMINING RACE AND CULTURE IN COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE FROM THE INSIDE OUT

What is needed to change Collaborative Practice to a more inclusive professional community serving a broad and diverse clientele? We will look at how our own race, culture, and history affect our beliefs, thoughts, reactions, and behaviors, the impediments to talking about race and culture, and how the functioning of our societies and systems within them impact us and our racial and cultural relationships in the context of Collaborative Practice. Then we will Catherine Conner, Gary J. Natalia explore the change to a more inclusive Collaborative community. JD Friedman, Lopez-Whitaker, JD JD

PCI #2 DOLPHIN ADVOCACY: FINALLY TRANSITIONING FROM LITIGATION TO AN ALL ADR PRACTICE

People – including lawyers – are good and wish to do good in the world. So many of us along the way, however, lose connection with our better natures. We are trained to operate in an adversarial model as “sharks”. Learn how to operate from a totally different paradigm as a “dolphin” and finally transition from conflict to a peacemaking practice. Learn how to realign with your better nature, do less harm in your practice and transition to an all ADR practice.

Shawn Weber, JD

PCI #3 AGREEMENT READINESS

Incorporating recent findings from neuroscience, participants will be guided through innovative techniques that can assist and support clients, even high-conflict clients, to shift towards Agreement Readiness early in the process. This program offers coaching skills appropriate for each profession to manage even hidden obstacles at the outset – an aspect that is missing from most general collaborative trainings. Through the use of advanced worksheets Diana L. Cathleen Carol Hughes, and new techniques, participants will learn to improve cost efficiency Martinez, Collinsworth, PhD, LMFT JD CDFA®, MAFF® and facilitate better outcomes with more durable agreements for their collaborative clients.

Eureka Honorees

The Eureka Award recognizes and honors those who “have made significant contributionsand demonstrated an abiding dedication to establishing and sustaining Collaborative Practice in California.” The Eureka Award is not limited to those in any particular practice or career. Previous honorees include members of the core disciplines—mental health, financial, and legal—as well as those who are not licensed in these professions. The Eureka Award was established in 2006 as part of the very first Celebration ofCollaborative Prac- tice in Sonoma, California, and actually pre-dates the founding of CP Cal. In its first two years, the Eureka Award Committee chose to play “catch up” and honored several recipients each year. In 2008, the CP Cal Board chose to limit the Eureka Award to three to five Honorees.
