Changes to Timetables and Bus Stops You may notice numbers to the left of stop descriptions in several timetables. These numbers are specific stop codes for use in apps such as the traveline app and the nextbus.mobi app on your smartphone. School Holidays are as follows: 21 - 25 October 2013; 15 November 2013; 23 December 2013 - 3 January 2014 14 -19 February 2014; 7 - 21 April 2014 Highland Railcard The Highland Railcard is available to anyone aged 16 or over permanently resident within the following Argyll and Bute postcodes: PA20-38, PA41-49, PA60-78 and G83. A Highland Railcard costs £8.50 and allows 50% off most rail fares when you travel on the West Highland, North Highland and Kyle Lines. Also up to 2 children, accompanied by a Highland Railcard holder, can travel for a flat fare of £2 return each. For information on how to apply ( 01463 239026. Scottish Citylink On Scottish Citylink services priority is given to boarding those passengers who have a reserved ticket. In the case of Concession Card holders they may reserve their journeys in advance of travel at a charge of 50p per journey which then entitles them to the same priority as any other class of reserved ticket holder. Thereafter the driver will take passengers on board in queue order subject to there being any remaining seats available. Seat reservations may be made in advance of travel by telephoning 08705 50 50 50, by visiting www.citylink.co.uk on the web or by visiting any Scottish Citylink Travel Centre or agent. NextBuses is an innovative, new service from Traveline that gives you the next bus times anywhere in the UK via mobile internet. Only pay your normal charges for internet data and receive a response within seconds. How does it work? 1. Log-on to www.nextbuses.mobi on your smart phone 2. Enter a postcode, street name and town, or bus stop code 3. On the map, click on the bus stop you want to use 4. View departure times for that stop on your mobile. It’s that easy! Scheduled bus times are shown if live times are not available. Normal data charges of your mobile operator apply. Speed and access to service is subject to your network connection. 4 Passenger Information For all local and national public transport timetables and journey planning information, call Traveline Scotland on 0871 200 22 33, or visit www.travelinescotland.com. Lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Calls cost 10p per minute from BT Landlines. Charges from mobiles or other providers may vary. Concessionary Travel On 1 April 2006 the Scottish Executive's national transport agency, Transport Scotland, launched a scheme which gives older people and people with disabilities free bus travel anywhere in Scotland. People who live in the area covered by The Strathclyde Concessionary Travel Scheme will also be able to use the card to get cheaper fares on First ScotRail trains and the Glasgow Subway. Highlands and Islands Patient Travel Scheme This scheme was originally set up in recognition of the difficulties and expense involved in travelling to and from hospital for people resident in remote communities. The scheme operates for people who live within Argyll and Bute, part of the NHS Highland area. If you are a patient travelling by public transport to a UK hospital for NHS treatment or appointments you may be able to reclaim part of your travelling expenses under this scheme. Please note that these times relate to when the bus is operational. It may not be possible to uplift you at 0700 exactly or to set you down as late as 1800 (or 2200 on summer Tuesdays) depending on where you are on the Island. Preference will be given to bookings connecting to or from Caledonian MacBrayne ferry sailings. Anyone can use this service. To book a journey contact the operator (Nancy McKechnie trading as John Kennedy) ( 01879 220419. Journeys can be booked up to one week in advance and as late as up to one hour before the time of travel (subject to availability).
