World Approval Wires the Woodbine Mile SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2017 BRISK TRADE CONTINUES AT KEENELAND WORLD APPROVAL WIRES by Jessica Martini LEXINGTON, Ky - The action remained brisk and bidding was THE WOODBINE MILE competitive as the Keeneland September Yearling Sale entered its Book 3 section Saturday in Lexington. A colt by Pioneerof the Nile topped the auction=s fifth session when selling for $525,000 to bloodstock agent Steve Young. The yearling was consigned by Gainesway. In all, 253 horses sold for $31,392,500. The average was $124,081 and the median was $100,000. The buy-back rate was 30.3%. The session topper was one of seven yearlings to better the $400,000 mark and one of 17 at $300,000 or over. While the reformatted 2017 sale makes year-to-year comparisons inexact, last year=s Book 3 opener, held on the sixth day of the sale, saw 269 yearlings gross $23,243,000 for an average of $86,405 and a median of $70,000. The 2016 session topper was $700,000 and there were three yearlings over World Approval | Michael Burns/WEG $400,000 and seven over $300,000. Cont. p3 Live Oak Plantation homebred World Approval (Northern Afleet) scored his first win at the highest level going 1 3/8 miles IN TDN EUROPE TODAY in last term=s GI United Nations S. and has also won multiple CAPRI IS THE ANSWER IN STRONG LEGER races at nine furlongs. Casse also won last year=s renewal of this test with two-time champion Tepin (Bernstein). Away well from his rail draw, World Approval went straight to the front, battling Dragon Bay (Parading) through an opening quarter in :23.77 and a half in :46.45 with a host of other rivals swarming them from all sides. Shrugging off his rivals rounding the far turn, the 2-1 chalk hit a whole new gear in the lane, storming clear under a rail-skimming ride from Hall of Famer John Velazquez to win by 2 1/2 lengths over European invader Lancaster Bomber (War Front). Long On Value (Value Plus) completed the trifecta. AI think he can do anything,@ Casse said. AWe found the mile is what he wants. We're excited to be going to the Breeder's Cup. I'm excited. Mrs. Weber's been a big part of my life for a long, long, long time. We both grew up in Ocala. She's been there and Live Oak has been part of Ocala for 50 years so this was special. It was nice for her to be there. She had never been there for a win before so that was nice."
