MY Explorer – Extra Divers Worldwide's new

The new comfortable liveaboard MY Red Sea Explorer was constructed in 2019 and offers trips to the best dive sites in the Red Sea. All popular routes from the famous wrecks of Abu Nuhas in the North, Daedalus and the southern spots in both the marine park and St John's are covered in our itineraries.

This unique liveaboard run by Extra Divers sets new standards within its industry, and provide guests with a marvelous trip as it is equipped with the best of the best. MY Red Sea Explorer is specially designed to afford guests maximum space, comfort, quality and safety. Unlike most in the region, the ship is crafted out of steel rather than wood.

Measuring 43m in length and 9.7m in width, MY Red Sea Explorer shapes up to be one of the largest, most modern and up-to-date liveaboards in the Red Sea. Facilities and technical aspects are truly state-of-art as showcased by exceptionally large guest cabins divided into 4 categories (Superior lower deck, Superior upper deck, master cabins and one spacious Royal suite (nickname “The real big one“). All cabins are equipped with panoramic windows, a spacious bathroom, large beds (single or queen-/king-size), a mini fridge, a safe and a TV.

Some of the onboard features include a 2000HP motor powered by 24 cylinders with a 44 liters engine capacity, approximately 300kW reserve energy, the latest units for navigation and safety including “ENOS“ diver alerts, modern high quality compressors by Bauer and a Mattai membrane unit with a total capacity of more than 1800 liters, a water purification system, aircon with individual controls, WIFI and an array of other remarkable features to make life on board smooth sailing.

This floating hotel is dedicated to the demands and expectations of scuba divers. Not only does the spacious diving deck provide fresh water rinse tanks, fresh water showers, plenty of storage space for dive equipment and a camera table – even Nitrox is complimentary for divers holding a valid certificate! ENOS is also on board - the best diving rescue system worldwide.

The ship:

The 9.7-meter-wide and 43-meter-long liveaboard has an elegant air-conditioned salon with a bar and comfortable seating, TV, WIFI (reception & signal strength depending on route and location of the ship), buffet restaurant, dive platform and a large diver deck. The spacious sundecks invite you to relax. Powerful desalination plants always guarantee enough fresh water, and two generators supply 24-hours of power. The friendly crew ensures the best service!

Cabins:

- 4x Superior Lower Deck with panoramic windows, single beds, bathroom with shower and toilet (including 1 family cabin for 2 adults and 1 child with double bed and the 3rd bed as a sofa bed)

- 4x Superior Upper Deck with large windows, double and single beds, bathroom with shower and toilet

- 3x master cabin main deck with large windows, double bed and single beds, bathroom with shower and toilet

- 1x Royal Suite with approx. 170 ° panoramic view, king size bed, rain shower, toilet and private sundeck

The very spacious and comfortable superior lower deck cabins are equipped with two single beds, air conditioning, TV, large windows, safe, mini fridge, sofa, table, bathroom with shower and toilet, bathrobes, towels. The elegant upper deck superior cabins with double and single beds are almost

identically furnished and located (without a sofa and a table) and located on the upper deck. Three master suites are located on the main deck of the ship and also have a small refrigerator, sofa and table. Located on the upper deck of the ship, the Royal Suite or "the real big one" offers the plus ultra of space and comfort. The suite is equipped with a large king size double bed, spacious seating area, rain shower, TV, minibar (first filling included), Nespresso coffee machine and many other amenities in addition to two private French balconies, a private sundeck and almost 170 ° panoramic all around view.

Meals:

Including full board. Tasty meals are served buffet style three times a day. Afternoon snacks as well as coffee, tea, water and soft drinks are also included in the price. For an additional fee, local wines, beers, coffee specialties and canned drinks are available. The meal service starts with the dinner on the first day and ends with the breakfast on the last day.

Diving:

Eat - Sleep - Dive - Relax! A safari on the MY Red Sea Explorer leaves nothing to be desired. In general, 3 to 4 dives per day including night dives are offered (first and last cruising day: 2 to 3 dives). Before each dive a detailed briefing will be held. Normally there are 2 experienced dive guides on board. Tanks are 12 litre aluminum (80 cu) with DIN and INT valves. 15 litre steel tanks or rental equipment are available through advanced booking and at extra charge on board. Nitrox 32 is free for certified Nitrox divers. On the dive deck and the diving platform there are fresh water showers, sinks, toilet, a camera and boxes/enough storage space for the equipment. Diving is either done by one of the two spacious 6- meter-long and 2.45-meter-wide zodiacs or from the diving platform. Divers need a minimum experience of at least 50 dives. Generally, the maximum depth is 40 meters. ENOS is used on board (GPS-based emergency detection system for divers). The use of a and a buoy is mandatory!

Itinerary:

The arrival and departure is usually on Thursdays. Upon arrival in Hurghada or Marsa Alam, our guests are welcomed by our friendly staff and taken to the port. Check-in on board includes the allocation of the cabin, a short boat orientation and dinner. The departure is the next morning, on the 6th day the ship returns to the harbor in the afternoon. Check-out and transfers to the airport begin after breakfast on the 7th day of the trip.

The MY Red Sea Explorer offers weekly safaris to the top spots of , with departures always on Thursdays. The following tours are offered: Nord & Wrecks, Nord & Tiran, Nord & Brothers, St. John's, Daedalus / Fury Shoal, Daedalus / Zarbagad / Rocky Island, Brothers / Daedalus / Elphinstone (BDE). Note: Some itineraries do not permit night dives due to Egyptian safety regulations. We reserve the right for itinerary changes due to regulations of Egyptian authorities.

Arrival: The liveaboard trips depart from Hurghada or Port Ghalib. The ship is ready for boarding at about 15:00h on the day of arrival, check-out on the last day at 9:00h in the morning and subsequent transport to the airport.

General Information:

Note:

To apply for a diving permit with the Egyptian authorities, we need your passport copy when booking your holiday (for short-term bookings at least 1 week before departure). The passport must be valid for at least 6 months upon departure. In case of non-compliance, we assume no liability if there are delays in the departure.

We require a valid dive certification and logbook as well as a valid doctor’s certificate or a medical statement from each diver. At least 50 dives are required, should not be more than 1 year ago. It is up to the dive guide, to exclude guests who do not meet these requirements or have inadequate diving experience, at some dive sites (, depth, etc.) without compensation.

The max. depth is 40 meters; appropriate training is required. dives are not allowed. Carrying a dive computer and a buoy is mandatory and for your own safety. On certain tours (including BDE, Marine Park) night dives are not or only partially possible.

The exact route is weather dependent and depends on the diving experience of our guests. Routing changes due to official orders might be possible in exceptional cases.

Diving is done with 12 litre (80 cu) aluminum tanks (15 litre steel tanks by surcharge and pre- booking). On the ship are usually neither spare equipment nor parts. Equipment, dive torches and computers can be hired on advance notice (prices upon request).

ENOS, the safety & location system for missing divers on the surface, will be provided free of charge for each diver upon request. In the event of loss or damage to the transmitter, Euro 350, - will be charged to the guest.

We recommend a travel health insurance including decompression chamber treatment.

Transfers from Hurghada to Port Ghalib may have a maximum waiting time of 3 hours (for example due to flight delays or collective transfers).

ITINERARY

North & Wrecks SS. Thistlegorm: One of the most famous and popular wrecks in the Red Sea is certainly the SS Thistlegorm. Rediscovered in 1956 by , the wreck offers one-of-a-kind dives with a variety of marine life and spectacular holds with relics of the Second World War. While diving you can discover trucks and motorcycles. Worth seeing is the stern with its machine guns and the locomotive on the ocean floor next to the wreck. Watch out for ammunition lying around!

Little Gubal: Between 5 and 27 meters’ depth lies the beautifully overgrown wreck of the Ulysses. At Bluff Point there is a remarkable wall with small overhangs and fantastic corals.

Abu Nuhas: Abu Nuhas ship graveyard on the Gubal Strait houses four wrecks at moderate depths. The Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K and Kimon M are overgrown with colourful corals and form artificial reefs for numerous fish, shrimp, octopus and moray eels. Interesting dives are guaranteed, because each of the wrecks is different.

Rosalie Moller: If the weather and current conditions permit, the Rosalie Moller can also be dived. The legendary wreck lies in the Strait of Gubal and is considered one of the most beautiful wrecks in the Red Sea. Thousands of glassfish, jackfish, lionfish and snappers are found here. With a length of over 100 meters, the wreck offers plenty of space for discoveries. Due to the depth - between 20 and 50 meters, the wreck is less suitable for beginners and novice divers.

North & Tiran SS. Thistlegorm: One of the most famous and popular wrecks in the Red Sea is certainly the SS Thistlegorm. Rediscovered in 1956 by Jacques Cousteau, the wreck offers one-of-a-kind dives with a variety of marine life and spectacular holds with relics of the Second World War. While diving you can discover trucks and motorcycles. Worth seeing is the stern with machine guns and the locomotive on the ocean floor next to the wreck. Watch out for ammunition lying around!

Strait of Tiran: The popular reefs of the Strait of Tiran: Jackson, Woodhouse, Thomas and Gordon , promise diversified dives. At Jackson Riff life is buzzing with turtles, anthias and numerous fusiliers. The wonderful soft corals enchant every diver. With a bit of luck, hammerhead sharks can be seen at the outer part of reef or at Gordon Reef. Woodhouse and Gordon offer steep walls, the famous Thomas Canyon and beautiful gorgonians.

Ras Mohamed (Shark & Yolanda): The dive site is located on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula and promises a variety of highlights for divers. The bottomless wall at Shark Reef is beautifully overgrown with soft corals. Especially in the summer months the reef hosts plenty of fish. Schools of snappers, jacks and batfish are gathering in the deep blue at the drop off. With a little luck grey reef sharks and barracudas can be seen. Yolanda Reef is named after the sunken cargo ship. The ship itself has slipped to great depths, its cargo is still scattered on the reef between colourful corals: toilets, bathtubs and even the leftovers of a car are among the attractions. The well- known thresher shark cleaning station on Little Brother, grey reef sharks, hammerheads and Longimanus guarantee exciting dives. The spectacular drop-offs are covered with soft corals, as well as the two wrecks Numidia and Aida at Big Brother.

St.John's St. John's: The diversified dive sites of St. John's are located in the south of Egypt. Many reefs of different sizes rise from the sea. A special dive site is the cavern system Cave Reef. Divers explore the shallow reef formation through unique corridors illuminated by light rays.

Fury Shoal: A potpourri of various reefs and dive sites characterize the Fury Shoals. Plateaus, steep walls, coral gardens and caves with incredible fish diversity can be explored on short journeys. At Abu Galawa a wreck from the 50s lies at 18 m depth. Dolphins can often be seen here.

Brother Islands Brothers: Sharks, wrecks and drop offs - there is almost nothing that does not exist here. The well- known thresher shark cleaning station on Little Brother, grey reef sharks, hammerheads and Longimanus guarantee exciting dives. The spectacular drop-offs are covered with soft corals, as well as the two wrecks Numidia and Aida at Big Brother.

Daedalus / Fury Shoal Shaab Claudio: Diving is very relaxed here because of the shallow depth and little current. A small cave system that is very easy to dive attracts with great light effects and is ideal for photographers. A beautiful hard coral garden, morays and huge napoleons make the dive site worth seeing.

Sha'ab Sataya is also known as "Dolphin House" and is located in the south of the Fury Shoals. The horseshoe-shaped reef includes a large lagoon where dolphins can be encountered quite often. Especially by snorkelling there is the opportunity to experience unforgettable moments with the playful marine mammals. The reef is also great for night dives.

Elphinstone: The reef is known for its two plateaus on the north and south sides, with good chances of hammerhead encounters. A frequent visitor is the curious oceanic whitetip shark (Longimanus). Fantastic corals, napoleon wrasses and turtles make the trip to Elphinstone Reef the perfect ending of the tour.

Daedalus: The large reef lies south of the Brothers and impresses with intact hard coral gardens and the popular anemone city. However, Daedalus has become famous for its legendary hammerhead schools, which guarantee exciting dives.

Daedalus / Zarbagad / Rocky Island Elphinstone: The reef is known for its two plateaus on the north and south sides, with good chances of hammerhead encounters. A frequent visitor is the curious oceanic whitetip shark (Longimanus). Fantastic corals, napoleon wrasses and turtles make the trip to Elphinstone Reef the perfect ending of the tour.

Daedalus: The large reef lies south of the Brothers and impresses with intact hard coral gardens and the popular anemone city. However, Daedalus has become famous for its legendary hammerhead schools, which guarantee exciting dives.

Zabargad: Zabargad Island is around 3.5 km long with many interesting dive sites. A nameless wreck with a length of 70 m lies between 1 and 24 meters on the sandy bottom, at low the mast towers over the water. It is possible to explore the bridge and the engine room. A hard coral garden on the west side and a colorful plateau in the south offer great variety.

Rocky Island: Rocky Island is a tiny island near Zabargad. The legendary dive site is surrounded by a large fringing reef that seems to drop steeply to infinity. The reef is swarming with life and covered with lots of gorgonians, soft and fan corals. With a bit of luck, you can also spot big fish like grey reef sharks, white tip sharks and dolphins

Brothers / Daedalus / Elphinstone (BDE):
