Poetry Collections:

1. DESERT BLOOMS: Calcutta: Writer's Workshop, 1987.

Raghupathi’s Desert Blooms is a poetic journey of experiences in the form of dialogue among the three souls. The dialogue is centered on Philosophy of life from different dimensions in the universe. Each soul argues in its own way commenting, disputing and summing of life not in agreement with the argument of the other two souls. The poet presents his experiences from the tree of life, tree of human life, the world of Illusions, fantasies, surplus life, sack of life, lock of life, infinite and incomplete life, life of darkness and light, life of silence and emptiness, life of connections and disconnections, life as a river of force so on and so forth. Raghupathi philosophizes the mysteries of life, presents the path, the purpose and meaning of life in subtle dimensions by unfolding ‘desert blooms’.

2. ECHOES SILENT, Calcutta: Writer's Workshop, 1988

It is a single long poem in which the poet is disenchanted with many things, especially our educational system and all we were taught in schools and colleges. Instead he is in love with silence. 3. THE IMAGES OF A GROWING DYING CITY, Calcutta: Writers Workshop, 1989.

It is a collection in which Dr.K.V. Raghupathi has presented 81 sordid images of not a particular city but that which represents any other city that is simply growing and dying in terms of values and quality of life. The poet presents a few pertinent images in the course of the city’s evolution from its pristine state to its present state of decay and death. The poet intelligently traces the history of this imaginary city, which was uninhabited, undiscovered, and inaccessible and remained unknown to human species. Soon, it became the land predominantly occupied by human beings who are largely self- conscious. It is now a city that is dazzling and colorful built upon with tireless pursuits and ambitions. Multi-colored structures emerged on the city. Human population exploded day by day like swarms of bees and multiplied by moving in the streets, lanes and by lanes. With the advent of science and technology, the city has developed beyond expectations. All the forests have been cleared; roads and rail routes have been laid like branches of a tree. Factories and machines in city become symbols of pollution. It is all buzzing, zooming and blooming. The poet has captured the decaying images lucidly and vividly.

Dhvanyaloka is a Literary Criterion Centre founded by late Professor C.D.Narasimaiah at Mysore. The serene atmosphere in Dhvanyaloka had further initiated the author into such ecstatic moods which finally yielded in the form of reflections. Their hospitality had touched him deeply and hence he recorded this gratitude in printed words. The poems are full of romantic and transcendental elements.

8. DISPERSED SYMPHONIES, New Delhi, APH Publishing Corporation, 2010. ISBN: 978-8131309629.

Dispersed Symphonies by K. V. Raghupathi is a collection of small scale symphonies charting his spiritual development and the struggle towards faith. The symphonies are published one per page with a black and white drawing on the verso. At a time when much poetry is growing narrower and more self-referential, Raghupathi is a poet who dares to ask the larger questions. Raghupathi’s goal is to create an ethics of memory, a system that will allow the transcendent moment to be relived, but which still admits the growth of spirituality. This clear-headed realism is perhaps the most compelling feature of Raghupathi’s writing, and the source of its authority and elegance. In his work intelligence is an important, obvious, and strong emotion. Reading this yields highly transcendental experience which is richly cherishing.

Covering myriad range of experiences - love, death, accidents, coincidences, art, literature, travel, nature, beauty, etc. -K.V.Raghupathi's 'Between Me and the Babe' is an outpouring of the poet's somber recollections on the human condition. An existentialist note permeates this collection, with the poet meditating on both the meaning of nature and the futility of life. Each poem carries a tone of melancholy at the brevity of life's joys, and also ponders upon the impermanence of sadness. As the poet tries to navigate through and find his own place in the world, he tried to take on the role of the detached observer, but his chronicles betray his deep sensitivity to the goings-on in a world of constant change. Introspective and emotionally charged, these sets of poems are bound to strike a chord with not only his admirers, but also those who appreciate a contemplative stance fast paced modern lives.

Novels:

1. THE INVALID, Allahabad: Cyberwet.net. 2012. ISBN: 978-81-8253-353-0

The book in your hand was written thirty years ago while the writer was just twenty five. This constitutes the first of four books (tetralogy) which were written by him around that time. It might be shocking for you to know that the first one which is before you has been rejected by more than thirty publishers in the last thirty years. Some cited no reason, some said, it is a most horrendous piece of writing... Human world would simply not accept ... burn it. The writer did not burn, but simply kept it along with the other scripts in a box and locked, and then forgot the fate of their print. After thirty years he revived his interest with a hope to introduce them to the educated public. But, much to his consternation and shock, the same story has been repeated, but with a difference. One or two publishers called it fabulous and shocking; some accepted it in the beginning, later abandoned without citing reasons. Yet one signed the contract and vanished. Still another signed the contract and later broke it after six months. The writer is driven to deep frustration. Yet, determined and ready to face adverse and aggressive hostile world, the writer has ventured it on his own with the help of a budding publisher, Cyberwit.net for which the writer expresses his deep sense of gratitude. The book is now before you, in your hands. Read and burn and forget.

2. THE DISAPPOINTED, Allahabad: Cyberwet.net.2014. ISBN: 978-81-8253-475-9

The novel is second in series of four novels (tetralogy) written thirty years ago. The first one ‘The Invalid’ was published by the same publisher in Nov, 2012. ‘The Disappointed’ was born out of writer’s personal experience. It has two Encounters. The first was written 30 years ago; and the brief second one was added 15 years after the first. It was a real experience, and not conceived in imagination. It does not conform to any pattern of writing a novel like the first one as the writer simply does not believe in such stuff of writing. For him human experiences do not constitute any form and pattern. It was just a recorded experience. Nothing else. The novel is before the readers, in their hands, whether they like it or not, it is for them. Read, burn and forget. His story combined with dismay and disappointment, disgust and contempt, hatred and strange feelings produced in me some unique sensation and I left with indelible impressions of that old man. As I rode I felt how certain chance and unexpected and accidental meetings and certain inexplicable and indescribable combination of events and situations speak a great amount of the quintessence of human life.

Books on Yoga:

1. YOGA AND ZEN: A MONOGRAPH, New Delhi, Sarada Publishing House, 2007. ISBN:

81-88934-47-X

India is a home of rich spiritual traditions and philosophies. Yoga and Buddhism are the two greatest systems of philosophies given to humanity. The former expounded by Patanjali remained and lasted as pure tradition, while the latter when it was split into several schools. Zen was born from one such school called Madhyamika as it traveled to the far east., Though originated in India, the two are diametrically opposed in respect of theology, cosmology, methodology and technique. The concise mono graph takes an insightful look into similarities and differences between these two systems which made a deep impact on human life. This small but invaluable study is considered as a rich contribution to the field of comparative study of philosophical systems of religions.

YOGA FOR PEACE, New Delhi, Abinav Publications, 2007. ISBN: 81-7071-483-X

In India and abroad yoga seems to be different things to different people, with the result the original and pure yoga as expounded by the great sage Patanjali two thousand years ago actually has become drained, diluted, remote, shallow, unreachable and unrecognizable. The path of True Yoga actually leads one out of darkness into the light; and it is a perpetual journey into the mysteries of life. It takes up and leads us unfailingly and unerringly to the heights of greater splendor and glory where perfect peace, harmony and wisdom reign supreme. But this goal of yoga can only be reached through a regenerated, spiritual mind; a mind which is pure, subtle and sensitive. Needless to say, this yoga is missing now. It is misunderstood, misconceived into something by various names, gymnastics, fakirism, beauty culture and therapy, health science, sex therapy, meditation technique and so on. Against this backdrop, the essays are framed on the basis of the first two sections, namely, Samadhi Pada andSadhana Pada of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras. These are originally condensed talks delivered at Sri Aurobindo Society, Triupati. In preparing these essays, the writer has drawn both upon his own experience and the Yoga Sutras. Ultimately, the only pure yoga is in living, constantly purifying oneself, leading to the discovering of oneself. The reader will find it useful and perhaps even illuminating to dispel certain misconceptions.

Critical Works: 1. EMERSON’S ORIENTALISM, New Delhi, Prestige Books, 2007. ISBN: 9788175511903. Emerson is a towering personality in the realm of American Literature: a prolific writer, a brilliant speaker and a poet- philosopher. Influenced by oriental thought, chiefly the Vedantic philosophy, he outlined his age by preaching the doctrine of Self-Reliance e and Intuition through his lectures and writings. Nevertheless, he was an original thinker. The present book, based on the doctoral thesis of the author, is a comprehensive study of Emerson and the philosophy of his life. As we turn over the pages of his poems, essays and journals, we find ourselves listening to an oracular voice, uttering words of gnomic wisdom, in clear but almost expressionless tones. The book makes a rich contribution to the area of American- and Oriental Studies.

2. BRAVE NEW WAVE: 21 INDIAN ENGLISH POETS,Jaipur, Book Enclave, 2009. ISBN: 978- 8181522405 Over 150 years of history of Indo-English Poetry as many as 50 anthologies have appeared. Perfection in anthologies is a myth. No anthology can claim itself to be complete, truly representative, objective and judicious. They represent small voices of the big or small streams and rivers. The anthologies hitherto published carried only old voices, hegemonistically promoted as if giving an impression that there were no new significant voices that Indo-English poetry is completely drained and drought-ridden. Against this mythical backdrop, the present one is contemplated and executed meticulously. It is edited with a difference, perhaps the first of its kind to represent the new voices that emerged after 1980’s with biographical sketch, critical appraisal of their poetry, bibliography including primary and secondary sources of the poets in the history of anthologies of Indo-English poetry. The essential idea behind is so present and project the unacknowledged; much ignored and neglected voices both by the publishers and the academic world. 7. Critical Perspectives on the Post-1980 Indian Novel in English, Jaipur: Yking Books, 2016. ISBN: 978-93-85528-59-0.

Indian Novel in English has gained a great momentum in the last three decades since the publication of Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children in 1982. Scores of writers both living in India and abroad have enhanced the prestige of Indian Novel in English in the world of literatures challenging their counterparts in the west. However, this phenomenal increase in their number and quantity of publication and bagging a number of coveted international awards alone cannot guarantee quality, but on the other have raised serious debatable questions. In the backdrop of this, a seminar was organized in April, 2015 to discuss and debate ove these crucial issues. The anthology is the outcome of this seminar comprising 29 articles dealing with various themes. It is an added value to the existing critical literature, and the editor is of the belief that it would act as a secondary source book for further research, both for scholars and teachers.

9. Indan English Poetry: Time and Continuity (Twelve Contemporary Poets) New Delhi: Authorspress, 2015. ISBN: 978-93-5207-17-5.

Indian English Poetry and its yield after 1980 is different. It is no longer an east- west conflict. Years after 1980 signify an entirely fresh elegiac scenario – a little nostalgic also. A predilection for religious doctrines figures out life as transcendental reality while metaphysical inquiries disturb. No obvious signs regarding narrow religious mind sadden but secular and universal qualities surface. Poetry reveals religious, psychological, philosophical-existential identity and contemporary disquiet in amicable phrase. Poets of seventies and eighties with strong and rural background hold adequate experience of urban life, and stressful city woes with freshness in ennui and monotony of urbanity frighten and drive to rational and meditative thoughts. To locate identity and roots distresses bards as onerous past and contemporary void ironically haunt like a lethal spectre of disturbance, death and consequential vainness. H.S.Bhatia, O.P.Arora, T.V.Reddy, R.K. Bhushan, D.C.Chambial, Manas Bakshi, Pasupathi Jha, P.Raja, K.V. Raghupathi, Arbind Kumar Choudhury, P.Gopichand and P. Nagasusheela are included in the present anthology. They underline poetic characteristics of the age, and speak of man and society with understanding and empathy.
