He thought that maybe it would be interesting—or at least accurate to life on a calamitous South Bronx street, a street of survivors—to commemorate a few of the people he knew who were having trouble surviving the street, even if they were trouble themselves. -

INFOKARA RESEARCH ISSN NO: 1021-9056 Theme of Alienation and ‘Introspection’ in Nissim Ezekiel’s Poetry:A brief Note M.Jayashree, Ph.D Scholar in English (P.T), E.M.G.Yadava College for Women, MADURAI – 625 014. Tamil Nadu, India. Abstract:This is an attempt to project Nissim Ezekiel as one of the major poets in Indian English literature in the current literary scenario, who is the one gifted with the power of influencing the theory and practice of several younger poets in addition to his own pioneering creative contribution to Indian poetry in English. It examines rather significantly how Ezekiel stands for simplicity, clarity, coherence, lucidity in art and literature and his poetic skill in treatment of various themes like loneliness, alienation and introspection, by bringing home the point that his poetry, acclaimed for its quality and vivacity, renders the contemporary themes of alienation, spiritual emptiness, isolation and fragmentation with humor, compassion and irony. Keywords: literary scenario, theory, practice, creative contribution, art, literature, alienation, introspection, compassion irony. Nissim Ezekiel, one of the major poets in Indian English literature, has expressed valuable ideas on literature and life in his letters, critical writings, poetic compositions and also interviews. He was in the vanguard of Indian poets writing in English. Much feted and acclaimed during his life time, Ezekiel was born on 6th Dec, 1924 in Bombay to Jewish (Bene-Israel) parents, who were deeply involved in education. He had his schooling at Antonio D’Souza High School and then studied at Wilson College, Bombay and later at Birbeck College, London (1948-52). -

Immersion Into Noise Critical Climate Change Series Editors: Tom Cohen and Claire Colebrook The era of climate change involves the mutation of systems beyond 20th century anthropomorphic models and has stood, until recent- ly, outside representation or address. Understood in a broad and critical sense, climate change concerns material agencies that im- pact on biomass and energy, erased borders and microbial inven- tion, geological and nanographic time, and extinction events. The possibility of extinction has always been a latent figure in textual production and archives; but the current sense of depletion, decay, mutation and exhaustion calls for new modes of address, new styles of publishing and authoring, and new formats and speeds of distri- bution. As the pressures and re-alignments of this re-arrangement occur, so must the critical languages and conceptual templates, po- litical premises and definitions of ‘life.’ There is a particular need to publish in timely fashion experimental monographs that redefine the boundaries of disciplinary fields, rhetorical invasions, the in- terface of conceptual and scientific languages, and geomorphic and geopolitical interventions. Critical Climate Change is oriented, in this general manner, toward the epistemo-political mutations that correspond to the temporalities of terrestrial mutation. Une action programmatique. Cette exposition s’inscrit dans une séquence de programmation en résonance avec le cinquième accrochage des œuvres de la collection du MAC/VAL qui, sous le titre «Vivement demain», explore le mythe de l’artiste visionnaire. Faisant suite à l’exposition collective « Situation(s) [48°47’34’’ N / 2°23’14’’ E] », où s’est développée une réflexion autour d’un appel à des « Êtres au monde » résistants, et précédant celle de Fiona Banner, artiste attentive à la mise en crise des formes diverses de dominations, l’exposition de Fabrice Hyber résonne particulièrement avec l’histoire de ce musée. Depuis la création du Fonds départemental d’art contemporain au début des années 1980 jusqu’à ses récents développements, le projet du musée se pense en direction de l’Autre. Du public. Les POF mettent en acte quelque chose d’une économie de la Rencontre. Une Rencontre modifie, à jamais, la cartographie du Réel. Le Monde s’en trouve irrémédiablement modifié. De cette aventure, l’œuvre, le visiteur, le musée ne sortiront pas indemnes, et c’est tant mieux. Loin d’une rétrospective qui fige l’œuvre, il s’agit de faire le point, à un instant T, de donner à voir quelque chose du travail en train de se faire, de la pensée en acte. -
