BLUE JACKETS NOTES IN THEIR 18th SEASON Columbus is in its 18th NHL season, looking to continue its upward trajectory and earn the sixth winning season in the past seven campaigns. The Jackets completed their 17th season with a 45-30-7 record (97 pts.), finishing fourth in the Metropolitan Division, seventh in the Eastern Conference and 14th overall in the NHL. The 2017-18 campaign marked the second-best regular season in club history after 2016-17’s 50-24-8 (108 pts.) season. The Blue Jackets hit the 42-win mark for the fourth time in the past five seasons. Columbus earned a playoff spot for the second-straight campaign, a first in franchise history, and fell in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals to the eventual Stanley Cup champion once again (Pittsburgh in 2017 and Washington in 2018).

NIGHT OF FIRSTS The Blue Jackets earned their second-straight road win with the help of some new scorers, with Anthony Duclair getting his first goal in a CBJ sweater and Riley Nash also collecting his first point (assist) as a Blue Jacket. Boone Jenner’s first goal of the season was an important one, he tied the game 4-4 in the third, giving the Jackets the chance to take home another road victory. Zach Werenski also scored his first two points of the season with a goal and an assist.

MULTI(POINT) TASKING Thursday’s game against Florida was the second-straight outing that multiple Jackets players had multiple-point nights. Zach Werenski picked up his first two points of the season with a goal and an assist, including the Jackets’ first of the night with a 5-on-3 goal. Cam Atkinson scored the game winner with 2:46 remaining in the third to ensure a regulation win, also notching an assist on Werenski’s goal to give him his first multi-point game of the season. Artemi Panarin had points on four of the Jackets’ five goals (1-3-4), giving him his second multi-point night of the season.

END OF THE ROAD Tonight is the Blue Jackets’ last road game for 12 days (Oct. 25 at St. Louis). They return home for a three-game homestand from Oct. 18-23, facing Philadelphia, Chicago and Arizona. The Jackets’ have won their opening two road games of a season for the third time in club history (also 2010-11 and 2013-14). The club has won three-straight road games to kick off a campaign just once before (2010- 11).
